Kevin Warsh to Assume Fed Chairmanship in White House Ceremony Led by President Trump

Deep News04:05

An official stated that Kevin Warsh will be sworn in as the Chairman of the Federal Reserve on Friday during a ceremony at the White House presided over by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Warsh will succeed Jerome Powell as the 17th leader of the Federal Reserve. Powell, whose formal term as Chairman concluded last week, is currently serving as interim Chairman. A White House official, speaking anonymously ahead of the formal announcement, confirmed the arrangements.

The U.S. Senate earlier this month confirmed Warsh's appointment with a vote of 54 in favor and 45 against, marking the narrowest confirmation margin in the history of nominations for the Federal Reserve Chair.

Warsh is set to take the helm of the Federal Reserve at a complex juncture. The war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran is elevating inflationary pressures, complicating the Federal Reserve's policy outlook. Critics have expressed concerns about his ability to maintain sufficient independence from the White House.
