AI Programming Startup Cursor in Talks for $20 Billion Funding Round with NVIDIA's Participation

Deep News03:23

Artificial intelligence programming startup Cursor is engaged in advanced negotiations with investors to raise approximately $20 billion in a new funding round, with its post-money valuation projected to exceed $50 billion.

According to informed sources, existing investor Andreessen Horowitz will co-lead the financing round, with NVIDIA planning to participate and Thrive Capital also in discussions to join.

Cursor is recognized as one of Silicon Valley's fastest-growing startups. Its AI programming tools significantly enhance developers' coding efficiency. As of February 2026, Cursor's annualized revenue surpassed $20 billion, doubling from $10 billion just three months prior. Approximately 150 million lines of enterprise code are generated daily through Cursor, with over two-thirds of Fortune 500 companies utilizing its services.

However, Cursor faces intense competition from Anthropic's Claude Code. Data indicates that within approximately one year of its launch, Claude Code's annualized revenue has exceeded $25 billion, surpassing Cursor in absolute terms. As AI autonomous coding capabilities mature rapidly, market attention is focused on whether Cursor can successfully transition from an application-layer company to a combined model and platform enterprise.

Cursor previously completed a $23 billion funding round in November last year at a $29.3 billion valuation, with investors including Accel, Thrive, Coatue Management, NVIDIA, and Alphabet. If the current funding round succeeds, its valuation would achieve an approximate 70% increase.
