As of Oct 22, U.S. stock index futures performed as follows: Dow Jones futures fell 0.55%, S&P 500 futures fell 0.93%, and Nasdaq 100 futures fell 1.55%. The decline in the Nasdaq 100 was the steepest, suggesting pressure remained concentrated in growth and technology shares. Broader market sentiment was weaker as rate-sensitive and chip-linked names also showed notable pre-bell softness.

Notable Stock Movers: Among large-cap movers, Tesla fell 3.5%, Micron fell 3.25%, Alphabet fell 1.68%, Meta fell 3%, NVIDIA fell 2% and Advanced Micro Devices fell 4.2%.

On the gain side, Biohaven (BHVN) rose 34% after an FDA update on its brain disorder drug, while Spotify (SPOT) gained 6% after reporting stronger subscriber growth and profit outlook.

In the Chinese ADR complex, Alibaba (BABA) fell 3.96% to $100.28, Baidu (BIDU) fell 2.06% to $77.20, and JD.com (JD) fell 2.41% to $25.17.

Additional movers included Hesai Group (HSAI), NetEase (NTES), XPeng (XPEV), and Hesai Group among the sharper decliners, while smaller-cap names such as MMTec (MTC) and Quhuo (QH) also saw outsized losses. The overall tape pointed to a risk-off opening, with selling pressure centered in AI, chip, and internet-related names rather than the broader market.

Key News

1. Biohaven secured FDA review of its resubmitted brain disorder treatment, lifting shares sharply premarket. The U.S. FDA accepted Biohaven’s resubmitted new drug application for Vyglxia for review. The filing includes additional supportive analyses for treating spinocerebellar ataxia, a rare neurodegenerative disorder that affects movement and balance. The agency also plans to convene an advisory committee before issuing its target decision in the first quarter of 2027.

2. Spotify reported stronger premium subscriber growth and a better operating-income outlook. The company said its premium subscriber base reached 306 million, above its prior guidance. Spotify also projected operating income of 820 million euros for the current quarter, ahead of expectations, while keeping revenue guidance at 5.2 billion euros. The update reinforced the view that its AI-driven product investments are beginning to support monetization.

3. Union Pacific beat quarterly profit and sales estimates and kept capital spending plans intact. The railroad reported adjusted earnings per share of $3.53, above the analyst estimate of $3.47, and revenue of $7.197 billion, also ahead of expectations. Net income rose to $2.076 billion, and the company reiterated full-year capital expenditure guidance of $3.5 billion. The results point to stable freight demand and disciplined cost control.

4. London Stock Exchange Group raised its outlook and announced a major credit-data acquisition. The exchange operator lifted its fiscal 2026 outlook after reporting stronger trading across data, subscriptions, and markets. It also said it will acquire Octus for $3.535 billion in cash, expanding its private-credit and risk-intelligence franchise. The deal extends LSEG’s push into higher-growth data products.

5. ADNOC’s XRG entered talks to buy a stake in Eni’s Libya oil and gas business. The discussions are at an early stage and may not lead to a transaction. Eni has operated in Libya for decades through a joint venture structure, and the business remains strategically important for the Italian group. Any deal would support XRG’s broader expansion in gas and energy solutions outside the Gulf.

6. Johnson & Johnson presented positive ablation study results for VARIPULSE Pro and OMNYPULSE. The company said VARIPULSE Pro achieved 100% acute procedural success in the study, while OMNYPULSE showed sustained rhythm control and improved quality of life. 7. Fort Point Capital completed the sale of its stake in AMS Fulfillment to Stord. The Boston-based private-equity firm exited its investment in the fulfillment company after backing its expansion since 2019. AMS Fulfillment built a national network and automation-enabled platform serving consumer brands in beauty and wellness. The transaction underscores continued consolidation in logistics and e-commerce enablement.

8. Fusion Fuel agreed to a share exchange that restructures acquisition obligations tied to QIND. The company entered a $2 million share exchange with its majority-owned subsidiary to rework obligations related to the Al Shola Gas acquisition. If completed, the deal would reduce remaining purchase-price obligations and remove certain financing commitments. The structure also creates a fallback cash payment requirement if shares are not issued on schedule.

9. NevGold expanded mineralization at its Limousine Butte project in Nevada. The company said drilling extended oxide gold-antimony mineralization by more than 100 meters east of the current resource area. Several holes returned notable grades, and more assays remain pending. The project’s preliminary economic assessment is targeted for completion in the first quarter of 2027.

10. ZenaTech unveiled AI software intended to speed drone-survey processing. The software is designed to automate LiDAR point classification and feature extraction, with a target of cutting post-processing time by up to 80%. ZenaTech said the tool could compress data delivery from days to minutes once fully developed. The company plans to test the software across surveying and infrastructure-monitoring projects as part of a broader SaaS strategy.
