Authorities reported that on Monday afternoon local time, a Tesla Motors vehicle crashed into the outdoor dining area of the Urban Cafe in Simi Valley, California, resulting in one fatality and five injuries.

Simi Valley police stated the collision occurred around 2:30 p.m. at a busy shopping center located at the intersection of Tierra Rejada Road and Madera Road.

The Ventura County Fire Department confirmed one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while five others sustained minor injuries.

Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased, and no further detailed information regarding the injured parties is currently available.

Earlier this month, a Tesla Motors Model 3 crashed into a residential home in Katy, Texas, resulting in a woman's death. The victim's family subsequently filed a lawsuit against both Tesla Motors and the driver involved, alleging the vehicle's driver-assistance system contributed to causing the crash.

Tesla Motors has denied these allegations, stating the driver manually overrode the system by pressing the accelerator pedal. U.S. federal safety regulators are currently investigating that incident.

Authorities have not yet indicated whether any driver-assistance technology was engaged at the time of Monday's crash.
