Baidu Group-SW (09888) saw its shares climb more than 3% in Hong Kong trading, with a 3.3% gain to HK$93.9 at the time of writing, on a turnover of HK$396 million.
The company announced this morning that it will voluntarily convert its secondary listing status on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange to a primary listing. The conversion is set to take effect on September 1, 2026. Following this date, Baidu will be dual primary listed on both the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Nasdaq.
Market analysts suggest that, based on past precedents, if Baidu completes the conversion before the September 3 review date, it could secure a spot in the upcoming Stock Connect adjustment window, with a potential inclusion as early as the week of September 7.
Baidu's second-quarter 2026 earnings report revealed that its core AI-driven business revenue reached RMB 12.5 billion, up 25% year-over-year, accounting for 50% of its overall business revenue. In the first quarter of this year, that figure stood at 52%. This marks the second consecutive quarter where AI-related operations have contributed half of Baidu's general business revenue.
