U.S. stocks rallied in overnight trading. President Donald Trump on Monday agreed to a 30-day pause on his tariff threats against Mexico and Canada as America’s two largest trading partners took steps to appease his concerns about border security and drug trafficking.
Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average traded 116 points, or 0.3%, higher. S&P 500 futures added nearly 0.4%, while Nasdaq 100 futures gained 0.5%.
Data analytics firm Palantir forecast first-quarter and annual revenue above Wall Street estimates on Monday, betting on robust demand for its software from companies adopting generative AI, sending its shares up about 22% in overnight trading.
Big tech stocks gained in overnight trading. Nvidia rose 1.6%; Tesla rose 1.3%.
Besides Nvidia, other chip stocks also rallied in overnight trading. Super Micro Computer rose 8.5%; Marvell Technology rose 2.1%; Arm and AMD rose 1.9%; TSMC rose 1.6%; Broadcom rose 1%.
Chinese ADRs advanced in overnight trading as investors gained confidence that trade negotiations are taking place after US President Donald Trump said he would speak with China. YINN rose 5%; XPeng rose 7%; Bilibili rose 6%; Li Auto and NIO rose 5%; iQiyi rose 4%; JD.com rose 3%; PDD Holdings and Baidu rose 2%; Alibaba rose 1%.
