BYD at Forefront of Crafting China's First Mandatory L2 Autonomous Driving Standard

Deep News07-09 22:39

Byd Company Limited (BYD) has announced its deep involvement as a principal drafter of China's inaugural mandatory national standard for Level 2 automated driving systems. The standard, officially titled "Safety Requirements for Combined Driving Assistance Systems for Intelligent Connected Vehicles" and referred to as the "L2 Assisted Driving New National Standard," was recently released. It was formulated under the organization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and executed by the National Technical Committee of Auto Standardization. This new regulation is scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027.

This standard addresses a previous gap in safety regulations for assisted driving systems by establishing binding requirements for system safety. BYD's role as a key contributor to the drafting process underscores its leading technical capabilities. The company has stated that the performance of its full range of vehicles equipped with the "Tian Shen Zhi Yan" (Heavenly Eye) advanced driver-assistance system surpasses the requirements set by this new national standard. This not only validates the reliability and safety of BYD's technology but also aligns with its mission to make advanced, trustworthy technology accessible and reassuring for all consumers.
