据知情人士透露，通用汽车旗下自动驾驶汽车公司Cruise正在谈判收购自动驾驶技术初创公司Voyage。Voyage主要在佛罗里达的退休社区开展业务。知情人士表示，收购Voyage将有助于Cruise发展无人驾驶出租车业务。
报道称，两年前，投资者认为自动驾驶汽车可以相对较快地上路，但Cruise和Alphabet旗下自动驾驶部门Waymo在部署付费服务方面的延迟，导致一些投资者退出。自那以后，自动驾驶汽车创业公司要么倒闭，要么被更大的公司收购。例如，Starsky Robotics Inc.去年倒闭了，Zoox公司则被亚马逊收购。
据悉，为推进自动驾驶技术的商业化，Cruise不断拓展相关业务。该公司已与沃尔玛建立了配送试点项目，并于今年1月聘请达美航空高管Gil West担任首席运营官。
