Nio Unlikely to Hit Sales Target for New Brand, DB Says -- Market Talk

Dow Jones2024-12-24

0428 GMT - The sales outlook for Nio's new brand "Firefly" remains uncertain, Deutsche Bank analyst Bin Wang writes in a note. The carmaker is planning to launch a hatchback under the brand will in April with and has set a pre-sale price of CNY148,800. That positions the car in the high-end small vehicle segment, pitting it against the likes of the Mini EV, the Geely and Mercedes joint venture's Smart, Lynk & Co's Z20 and Zeekr's X model. DB has a relatively conservative view on how Firefly sales will perform due to the model's unique exterior design. The brokerage expects Nio to sell 1,500 units a month, lower than the company's forecast of several thousand units a month. (jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
