China's Ministry of Commerce said the new US restrictions on artificial intelligence-related exports are overly broad and harmful to international trade, Xinhua News Agency reported Tuesday.
A ministry spokesperson said the restrictions create obstacles and interference for third parties engaged in normal trade with China and the move exemplified the misuse of export controls and violated international multilateral trade rules.
The action "severely hindered" normal trade between countries and damaged global business interests, including those in the US, the spokesperson said.
China will take necessary steps to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests, the spokesperson added.
