Broad Market Indicators
Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV rose. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) fell 0.4%.
US equity indexes were mixed, with technology leading the decliners and most government bond yields trading higher after midday Thursday.
Energy
iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) added about 0.6% each.
Technology
Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) shed 0.5%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were in the red.
SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) lost 0.3%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) fell 0.9%.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) rose 0.6%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) climbed 1.9%, and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) dipped 1.6%.
Commodities
Crude oil fell 0.4%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) lost 0.5%. Natural gas fell 1.9%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) shed 2.4%.
Gold was down 0.2% on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) eased 0.1%. Silver dipped 2%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) fell 1.1%.
Consumer
Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) rose fractionally; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were higher.
Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was up fractionally; retail fund VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) was up slightly, and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) added 0.9%.
Health Care
Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) was up 0.9%, and iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were higher. IShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) added 0.6%.
Industrial
Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) added 1.1%, and Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) were higher.
