Industrials Up on Hopes of Limited Tariffs -- Industrials Roundup

Dow Jones03-25

Shares of industrial and transportation companies rose as traders bet tariffs will be more limited in scope than previously indicated.

The U.S. will announce automotive tariffs "very shortly," and will unveil pharmaceutical tariffs "at some point," said President Donald Trump during a cabinet meeting.

The Trump administration has played down threats of sweeping tariffs. Sector-specific tariffs are now not likely to be announced on April 2 as Trump had vowed, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Trump also said he could offer exemptions to reciprocal tariffs.

Transportation equipment maker Wabash National said an appellate court has slashed the amount of punitive damages it owes in litigation tied to a deadly trailer crash, reducing the amount by more than 75% to $108 million.

The Chicago Federal Reserve's National Activity Index increased to 0.18 in February from minus 0.08 in January, according to new and revised figures.
