Market Chatter: Alphabet's Google to Be Fined by EU Antitrust Regulators Next Year

MT Newswires Live12-12

Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google is anticipated to be given a penalty by EU antitrust regulators in 2026 for falling short of compliance with EU's Digital Markets Act, Reuters reported Thursday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

To avoid a fine, Google can still make changes to comply with rules against preferring its own services and products in search results, the sources told the media outlet.

Google was charged by the European Commission in March with pushing its own services such as Google Hotels, Google Shopping, and Google Flights over competitors, according to the report.

Google did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
