The European Commission has awarded a six-year cloud services tender valued at up to 180 million euros ($212.3 million) to support efforts to strengthen the European Union's digital sovereignty.

Four European providers secured the contracts, including Post Telecom with CleverCloud and OVHcloud, StackIT, Scaleway, and Proximus with S3NS, a joint venture between Thales and Alphabet's (GOOG/GOOGL) Google Cloud, along with Clarence and Mistral, the European Commission said.

The tender allows EU institutions to procure sovereign cloud services aligned with the Commission's framework, focusing on security, compliance, operational control, and supply chain transparency, it added.
