Amazon's (AMZN) low-earth-orbit satellite business and SpaceX's Starlink could receive part of Europe's mobile satellite spectrum next year under a proposal expected to be unveiled Wednesday, Reuters reported late Tuesday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The proposal would reserve about two-thirds of the spectrum that allows mobile devices and vehicles to communicate seamlessly, even in remote locations, for European companies, according to the report.
The European Union's IRIS2 project would be among the European initiatives to receive some of the spectrum, the report said.
British and Norwegian companies could also bid for a license, the sources told Reuters.
