Garmin's (GRMN) Autoland emergency landing system is now installed on more than 2,500 aircraft, the company said Wednesday.

Nearly 250 aircraft received Autoland through retrofits after delivery and the system is available on more than 15 aircraft models.

Autoland can be activated by a passenger or automatically if the system detects no pilot interaction. It then selects a suitable airport, navigates around terrain and adverse weather, and lands the aircraft without human intervention, Garmin said.
