Options Market Statistics: Tesla Shares Jump 8% as Barclays Raises Price Target to $325; Options Pop
$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ Newsstock jumped 8%, on Wednesday, with the most traded calls are contracts of $400 strike price that expire on Jan 17 and the total volume reaching 75,866 with the open interest of 29,710, while the most traded puts are contracts of $390 strike price that expire on Jan 17 and the total volume reaching 41,607 with the open interest of 7,975.
Analyst Dan Levy from Barclays boosted the target to $325 from $270 and kept an Equal-weight rating. He said that Tesla's stock momentum has not previously moved with the fundamentals. According to him, the spike is attributed to market excitement surrounding autonomous vehicles (AV), artificial intelligence (AI) and their total addressable market (TAM). Although the recent U.S. elections shouldn't be good for the electric vehicle (EV) sector, Tesla has been quite resilient.
$MicroStrategy(MSTR)$ shares rose 5% with the most traded calls are contracts of $395 strike price that expire on Jan 17 and the total volume reaching 10,391 with the open interest of 10,628. The most traded puts are contracts of $300 strike price that expire on Jan 17 and the total volume reaching 13,104.
MicroStrategy's next method of raising capital is to buy bitcoin through perpetual preferred stock, which was announced to the market on Jan. 3. MicroStrategy has announced a capital raise of $2 billion through one or multiple offerings, according to Benchmark.
Benchmark hosted a recent investor meeting with MicroStrategy executive chairman Michael Saylor at the ICR conference in Orlando to discuss the perpetual preferred stock offering.
