CEO of $NVIDIA(NVDA)$ Jensen Huang says we'll use quantum computers in less then 5 years.
Here's his full quote:
“Let’s say we get 10x as many logical qubits every 5 years. That would put us at around 20 to 100 logical qubits within the next 5 years. With 100 logical qubits, the number of states it could represent would already be sufficient for early biomolecular or chemistry work, as well as materials research that could be quite useful.
The approach is not to have quantum computers run every simulation directly. Instead, the idea is to use quantum computers to generate ground-truth electron simulations, essentially behaving like an electron state, and then produce large amounts of synthetic data to train AI models with.
So this quantum-classical hybrid is gaining a lot of momentum right now, and I think everybody is getting excited. We can kind of see it being two or three years out from doing some real work. But in the meantime, what I said is true: every single supercomputing center is going to go quantum-classical, 100%. I have not met one that is not going to go quantum-classical. And that is why CUDA-Q is such a revolution. We are basically working with everybody in the quantum computing industry on CUDA-Q.”
