Today is the 4th Day of the Lunar New Year, traditionally known as the "Day of the Sheep." It is a significant day for welcoming back the deities and the Kitchen God to the mortal realm.

As we prepare for the "Opening of Fortune's Door" on the 5th day, Day 4 marks the time to organize our hearts and businesses for a prosperous start.

In the Year of the Horse, nothing warms the heart like a reunion meal filled with blessings. Whether it is the Yee Sang (Prosperity Toss) for a "high-flying" year or a massive Pen Cai (Treasure Pot) symbolizing "overflowing pockets," which dish is the "Lead Horse" of your table?

Share a snapshot of your reunion feast and celebrate the vibrant flavors of Nanyang with our community!

🧧🧧🧧Yee Sang is The High Flyer   of Reunion Dinner.  It is the Prosperity Toss & is the only dish in the world where adults are encouraged to behave like excited children - tossing food into the air while shouting blessings at full volume.

In the Year of the Fire Horse, the rule is simple:

The higher you toss, the higher your success.  (Just try not to redecorate the ceiling).

This is the moment when our families gather, chopsticks ready, hearts full and everyone becomes a High Flyer - literally and symbolically.

Yee Sang isn't just a dish.  It is a special moment.

A Reunion.  A shared Laugh.  A Joyful message that says :

We are together.  We are Hopeful.  We are ready for a prosperous year ahead.

To Everyone In The Tiger Family:

May we toss higher, laugh louder & welcome the Year of the Fire Horse with our hearts as full as our Yee Sang platter.

The Higher We Toss, The Higher Our Success!🧧🧧🧧🌈🌈🌈💰💰💰🐯🐯🐯

This year, I’m proudly in The Deep Pocket (Abundance Feast) camp! I cooked a full plate of 盆菜 (Treasure Pot) for my family — my very first attempt. From carefully layering the ingredients to slow-simmering the broth, it felt like building a strong foundation for the year ahead. When we lifted the lid, the rich aroma already felt like prosperity in the air.

盆菜 symbolizes abundance and unity, with premium ingredients stacked layer by layer — just like compounding wealth over time. Thankfully, it turned out delicious and exceeded my expectations. Seeing my family enjoy it made the effort truly worthwhile. It was truly a heartwarming reunion moment for all of us.

As we get ready for the “Opening of Fortune’s Door,” this successful first trial feels like a great start to the Year of the Horse. I’ll definitely be making it again next year — bigger and better! 🐎🍲

For our family, a steamed fish is a must for the reunion dinner and it is served as the last dish as it resembles "年年有余" "May you have abundance every year" symbolises a prosperous life and plentiful wealth, meaning that even at the end of the year, there will still be surplus grain or savings. This New Year's dish embodies people's beautiful wishes for a better life, a house full of gold and jade, and good fortune in the coming year. It usually signifies that the year will be filled with plenty of food and clothing, and the family will be prosperous.
