$SanDisk Corp.(SNDK)$ An analyst from Lynx Equity Research thinks this panic is overblown. The argument is that the threat isn't as big as people think for two reasons.
First, China can't actually produce the chips at the quality Apple needs. CXMT has only been approved to supply one low-volume Mac model and hasn't been approved for iPhones at all. More importantly, CXMT's yield rate on the high-speed memory Apple needs is too poor for CXMT to supply Apple at meaningful scale.
Second, China doesn't have spare supply anyway. YMTC hasn't been qualified to supply Apple any products, and it's already allocated its latest chips to domestic use, including Android phones, electric vehicles, and Lenovo.
The bottom line is that even if Washington gives political permission, the actual practical barriers mean these Chinese companies can't meaningfully take business away from Micron and SanDisk any time soon.
