$Apple(AAPL)$ John Ternus officially took over as Apple's CEO on Sept 1, 2026, marking the end of Tim Cook's 15-year run. Cook has moved into the role of Executive Chairman of the Board. Ternus, 51, is a 25-year Apple veteran and a mechanical engineer by training, and unlike Cook, who came from operations and supply chain, Ternus is more of a product guy. He joined Apple's product design team in 2001, and his first assignment was working on a monitor that wasn't particularly successful. He stuck with it and eventually climbed the ranks to become Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering in 2021. He has directly overseen major hardware lines including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, AirPods, and Apple Watch, and he led Apple's transition to in-house Apple Silicon M-series chips for Macs. On a personal note, I also find him attractive.
