AI gets the headlines.
But there’s another battle happening quietly in the background:
Cybersecurity.
As companies, governments and consumers become more dependent on connected systems, the cost of being hacked keeps getting higher.
And that changes the spending equation.
Companies can delay a new software project.
They can cut discretionary spending.
But cutting security spending is a much harder decision when the alternative could be a major breach.
That’s why cybersecurity has caught my attention. 👀
The recent market action has been interesting too, with cybersecurity names showing strength even while parts of the technology sector have been under pressure.
The bigger trend I’m watching:
🔐 More data moving online
☁️ More cloud infrastructure
🤖 AI creating new attack surfaces
🏢 Businesses becoming increasingly digital
💰 Security becoming a necessity rather than a “nice to have”
And there’s an interesting twist:
AI could actually make cybersecurity MORE important.
The same technology being used to automate businesses can also make attacks faster and more sophisticated.
So the question isn’t whether companies will spend money on cybersecurity.
It’s how much they’ll need to spend to stay ahead.
That’s a trend I’ll be watching long after today’s headlines disappear.
🛡️ Cybersecurity: defensive sector, or the next growth trade?
