Honestly, I feel like I've unlocked the ultimate achievement of experiencing all 8 of these painful trading moments firsthand. From watching a stock rocket right after I sold to holding a bag after buying the top, the market always finds a way to humble us.

The one that definitely hurt the most is #5: Big gains on paper… but now it’s red. Watching a position sit comfortably at +50% and refusing to lock in profits, only to ride it all the way down into a 10% loss, is a unique kind of emotional damage.

Another classic facepalm moment is #7: Picked the winner... but bought too little. I remember nailing the research and picking a massive winner, but only putting in a tiny allocation, watching it surge +100% while my heavy-conviction positions stayed completely flat!

Overconfidence hurt the most. Once I was short a leverage etf, I’m so confident the short squeeze will revert and even added more shorts. Eventually, my account blew up, all positions were force liquidated at the peak. The trade then turned in my direction after I blew up. $0 balance left in acc

😂 Too many of these feel personal!
🚀 #1: Sell after months of waiting, then watch it jump 30%!
📉 #3: Buy the dip at -10%, average down at -20%, and panic at -40%!
😭 #4: Sell at a loss, then watch it rebound the next day.💸 #5: Up 50%, feeling like a genius… now down 10%!
🤦‍♂️ #7: The stock you bought with $50 doubles, while your big positions do nothing!
Lesson learned: patience, risk management and taking profits matter!
Which one hurts the most? I’m voting #3! 😂

Honestly all the 8 moments I have encountered. The most painful one is I experienced is number 6 - Saw it coming and never buy. The share is $NVIDIA(NVDA)$ . I have monitored this share since year 2023 and till now I still never buy a single share. The 2nd most painful one is number 4 - U cut your losses then it rebound. The share is $Intel(INTC)$ as I buy at $50 since few years back and I gone through it drop till $22. Last year, I cannot wait and cut losses to sell at less than $50, then it shot up more than $100 now.

🌟🌟🌟The trading experience that hurts the most is No.5 - Big Gains on paper but now is Red.  A good example that I have experienced this week is the USD 1 trillion memory stock rout that dragged $Roundhill Memory ETF(DRAM)$ down 16.7% to USD46.45.

I bought at the peak, experienced big gains on paper but now it is red.

The lesson I learnt is when I sit at unrealised gains of 30%, it is a paper illusion.  It teaches me the most critical discipline in wealth building:

The stock market does not pay you for being right.  It only pays when you hit sell.

The reason I got trapped is the toxic belief that a skyrocketing stock will go up forever.  When DRAM ETF was flying high at USD 81, I did not lock in gains.

I did not implement a trailing stop loss or a profit taking blueprint.

An unrealised loss is a failure of risk management.

    As Paul Tudor Jones said:

"Don't focus on making money, focus on protecting what you have."
