Hi Tigers 🐯, Welcome to "What the Tigers say." 👋
Tesla’s quarterly earnings and Roadster reveal have Tigers weighing delivery performance against its robotics, autonomy, and engineering ambitions. The debate spans operational resilience, rocket-inspired technology, and competition from Chinese automakers.
Before today's session played out, the community was already doing the heavy lifting. Let's rewind to the three sharpest takes from @JC888 (https://ttm.financial/personal/3570103090255456/), @Shernice軒嬣 2000 (https://ttm.financial/personal/3560184106659134/), and @Kentzw (https://ttm.financial/personal/4252393041885622/):
JC888 | TSLA Q3 : from EVs to Robotics, AI & FSD ? @JC888
-
Deliveries Beat Forecasts: $$Tesla Motors(TSLA$$ delivered 486,532 vehicles in Q3 2026, ahead of Bloomberg’s 463,761 estimate and Tesla’s compiled forecast of 462,000.
-
Annual Decline Persists: Q3 2026 deliveries fell 2.0% YoY despite exceeding both delivery forecasts.
-
Premarket Reward: Shares rose more than 2.0% in premarket trading after the October 2, 2026 announcement, despite the US $7,500 EV tax credit having expired in September 2025.
-
Autonomy Burden Remains: $$Tesla Motors(TSLA$$ enters earnings with an expensive valuation and a high burden of proof on robotics and autonomy, leaving investors to weigh Q3 resilience against slow progress.

@JC888 weighs Tesla’s Q3 delivery beat against its valuation and the burden of proving its robotics and autonomy ambitions. @Shernice軒嬣 2000 explores the Roadster’s rocket-inspired engineering and three configurations. @Kentzw questions how that spectacle fits Tesla’s broader strategy as Chinese automakers rise.

The new Roadster is certainly exciting from an engineering perspective, especially its rocket-inspired technology. However, I see it more as a showcase of Tesla’s innovation than a major revenue driver. I would rather see Tesla turn its ambitious technologies into commercially viable products that can scale.
I remain bullish on Tesla’s long-term vision, but I also understand the market demands execution, not just promises. Chinese automakers are becoming increasingly competitive, so Tesla cannot afford to stand still. I will continue holding with a long-term perspective while watching for tangible progress in autonomy and robotics.

The Roadster is technologically fascinating, and I understand @Shernice軒嬣 2000’s focus on its engineering. However, I also share @Kentzw’s concern about strategic priorities. Chinese EV manufacturers are becoming increasingly competitive on price, technology and product cycles, so Tesla cannot afford to neglect its core automotive business while pursuing futuristic projects.
What would change my view? Clear evidence that FSD or robotaxis can scale commercially with improving margins and regulatory acceptance. If Tesla can demonstrate that, the Roadster becomes part of a broader technology story rather than merely an impressive engineering showcase.
For now, I would prioritise execution over spectacle.
