So far, about half of my fleet has been sold. Of course, used cars were not so easy to sell during the epidemic, and the discount was higher than usual, about 60-30% off. After a year like this, I still couldn't stand it anymore. I didn't have any income this year, which was equivalent to losing millions of RMB. In addition, after a long rest, people inevitably panicked, so I finally chose to return to China. The epidemic has broken out like dominoes all over the world. Even in 2021, the overseas epidemic still shows no signs of easing, which has caused heavy losses to the global tourism industry.

According to the data released by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the number of international tourists decreased by about 1.1 billion in 2020, with a decrease of 70% to 75%; The loss of international tourism revenue is $1.1 trillion, resulting in a loss of $2 trillion to the world economy.

There are eggs under the overturned nest. The outbreak of the global epidemic has also caused tour guides who used to \"travel abroad\" to face the most difficult year in their careers. For many overseas tour guides, this year may be \"0 tourists, 0 income\", or even have lost their jobs. So how did these overseas tour guides spend this year? What hard or interesting stories have happened to them?

After the first two issues focused on overseas house purchases and overseas intermediaries, \"Personal Experience\" turned the \"lens\" of the story to overseas tour guides. This issue focuses on four tour guides who have been engaged in overseas travel in France, Britain and Japan for a long time. During the epidemic, some of them lost millions of dollars and had to return to China. Some took advantage of this free opportunity to study short videos and maintain normal income through bringing goods and promotion... The following are the \"epidemic stories\" of these four tour guides:

1

In 2020, I was unemployed and lost nearly one million at home. I sold half of my fleet and returned to China

Narrator: Mr. Wang

File: In 2005, he worked in the tourism industry in Scotland, England, and received domestic tour groups

I started working in the overseas travel industry in 2005, mainly in Scotland, England, and have been doing it for 15 years now.

At first, I started as a single tour guide. Later, after I got experience, I set up my own small company with a motorcade, and would hire some drivers and tour guides to receive domestic tour groups together.

Before the epidemic, I had to receive hundreds of domestic groups a year, including some companies, schools, MBA colleges, summer camps, official inspections, exhibitions and other large and small tour groups. Basically, it will be busy from April to December, and there will be a small peak at Christmas, so it will be busy for about 9 months. In the off-season of the remaining months, it is the rest time for the whole family.

Before the epidemic, although our income was not particularly high, there was definitely no problem in supporting our team and family. The annual income would be about 100,000 pounds. At the same time, because of the off-season, we could give ourselves a holiday every year and rest in the UK. Whether it's or returning to China, life is relatively OK.

Unexpectedly, the entire year of 2020 will be shrouded in the shadow of the epidemic. First, the domestic Wuhan epidemic broke out, and then the recent large-scale outbreak in the UK. It is conceivable that Chinese people will definitely not take this risk to travel overseas, let alone the UK, so our tourism work is equivalent to being completely suspended, and a large number of tour guides and fleet workers engaged in domestic travel to the UK are also unemployed.

Fortunately, the UK is also giving us and the tourism industry some subsidies. This subsidy is 80% of your monthly salary in the month you previously filed tax returns, which also ensures that you will have a basic living income every month. For example, if your monthly income is 5,000 pounds, if you file tax returns normally, the government will give you a subsidy of 4,000 pounds this month. Of course, the extent of subsidies may vary according to the situation of companies and individuals.

So when the epidemic came, because I still had savings and government subsidies, my life was actually not affected. It was equivalent to taking a year's vacation in the UK, cleaning up the garden at home, playing golf, etc.

The actual situation is that not everyone will file taxes normally. The proportion of tax revenue in the UK is between 20-30%. For example, if some tour guides wanted to keep more money in their own hands before the epidemic, they would report less taxes or not file taxes at all.

But this subsidy rule is that if you filed more tax returns before, you can get more subsidies this time. If you didn't file tax returns before, then you won't get subsidies and can only be self-reliant.

If there are no subsidies and savings, even if there is a risk of infection, you will have to find some other things to do, such as working in Chinese restaurants, take-out shops, or delivering goods, and some will do some things including picking up international students, returning to China, and moving.

A friend of mine is like this. He was helping international students move, pick them up and return to China. Finally, in the car where he sent international students back to China, an international student was finally diagnosed, and he was extremely panicked. Fortunately, he was fine in the end, but it also reflected the helplessness of his living conditions.

In addition, because I have a travel agency, unlike individuals, in addition to subsidies, the government will give me an interest-free loan according to my turnover. If I need it, I will use this interest-free loan.

Of course, in order to reduce expenses, I am still doing some things to ensure cash flow. For example, my fleet has some cars that are not in so good condition, and I am considering updating them in the future. I have sold almost all of them. I have sold about half of my fleet so far. Of course, used cars were not so easy to sell during the epidemic, and the discount was higher than usual, about 60-30% off.

In terms of employees, because we don't have a long-term employment relationship with tour guides, most of them are settled on a daily basis, that is, you get one day's salary every day you work, and their team is not necessarily fixed, so fortunately, I don't need to pay employees a fixed basic salary every month, so this piece relieves me.

However, after a year like this, I still couldn't stand it anymore. I had no income this year, which was equivalent to losing millions of RMB. In addition, after a long rest, people inevitably panicked, so I finally chose to return to China.

I just arrived in Beijing in mid-January, 2021. I first flew to Shanghai, where I was quarantined for 21 days. Now I am observing according to the requirements of epidemic prevention in Beijing until relevant personnel inform me that I can go out.

The big reason for returning to China is the judgment of the epidemic situation in the UK. I think it will take at least 4-5 years for the British tourism industry to return to before the epidemic. If I rely solely on the British tourism industry, I will lose my job in the next few years, and with the UK Brexit actually has a relatively large impact on the local economy, so I can't always sit and wait.

I'm from Beijing, and my house and relatives are all in Beijing, so I decided to return to China and think about what I want to do in the next few years.

It's just that it will be more difficult to return to China and transform. Domestic travel agencies have actually been impacted by the epidemic. In addition, compared with domestic tour guides, I may not have more advantages; When I go to work in the company, I'm in my 40s. I don't want to give me 8,000 yuan, but I'm willing to give me 50,000 yuan. But why is the company looking for me? He can definitely find a young elite, so he still has to find his own right direction.

Now it seems more realistic that I may do some golf projects with my friends, and I have visited many golf clubs. I have studied the operation of golf before. During this period, I also met many people in the domestic golf industry, so I plan to go to Shenzhen or Yunnan to do a youth golf operation or training ground, but this is also a preliminary idea, and it has not yet reached the stage of putting it into action.

As for the tourism industry in the UK, if the global epidemic situation improves, I will still return to this industry. After all, I have been engaged in this industry for so many years, and I love this industry very much. In order to better attract my group customers, I have learned a lot. I have also studied in-depth the knowledge of golf and wine. I don't want to give up like this. I also especially hope that the epidemic will pass and travel abroad will rebound in retaliation, but at least for now, this idea is a bit too optimistic.

2

If you have nothing to do, focus on studying short videos. The epidemic has made British takeaways popular

Dictator: British Brother Bao

Character files: I have settled in the UK for nearly 20 years, and I mainly take Chinese tour groups every day

When the epidemic first broke out in 2020, the situation in the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy was relatively serious. I thought that the epidemic would affect the tourism industry in Europe, but I didn't expect it to last for so long, but I still thought that there should be no problem in 2021., but now I feel that this year is tough enough.

After the epidemic came out, many Chinese tourists stopped coming. The groups I receive are more high-end, personal tailor, and some large MBA study tours and business groups. In January and February 2020, there were some family-based group trips, but most people began to cancel their reservations from March to May. By March, when the UK was closed, there would be no more tourists.

Later, on May Day and summer vacation, the domestic epidemic eased, and some people would come to consult, but there were no groups. All the tours plus summer camp, didn't come. Many of our Chinese tour guides in the UK may have three or four hundred full-time tour guides, basically changing careers and returning to China, so this incident has dealt a great blow to the group of tour guides.

In addition, Britain's own domestic tourism is also quite depressed. The British still listen to the government. If the government says that the city is closed and they are not allowed to walk around casually, they will really stay at home and not come out to wander around. Therefore, many scenic spots in the UK are not open at all. Some big scenic spots, such as the British Museum, are booked online in advance to limit the flow of people and passengers, and some one-way routes will be made in it to ensure the safety of visitors.

I myself went to Scotland in November 2020, which was not considered a trip. I used to do some errands and stay in a hotel. After staying for four days, I could feel the excitement of the entire tourism industry, including the particularly luxurious hotels in the city center. The hotel is very cheap, and it can be seen that the flute is indeed a mess.

Therefore, from the perspective of tour guides, there was basically no business in the past year, so we could only do something else. I started making short videos in 2019. The main purpose was to promote my travel business. Later, I did pick up some guests from the platform, and my fans reached more than 300,000.

After the outbreak of the epidemic, I began to study this thing seriously, slightly changed the video style, and introduced the local customs and customs of the UK. Taking advantage of this opportunity, I set up my account, which now has more than 2 million fans. So, I am now equivalent to being a We Media person.

My videos have done some monetization, one is to bring goods and the other is to promote advertising. In 2020, I received some promotional advertisements, and the income was not bad, which was equal to the income of my previous tour guides.

The government will also give some subsidies. But for us, there is actually not much. The subsidies in other industries are basically 80%, such as hotels, but for our tour guide industry, the salary is not easy to measure, because it gives money if there is a group, and doesn't give money if there is a group. The subsidy is not so much, so we can only apply for a small fixed amount.

There are not many people doing purchasing agents around me. I have several brands or merchants here. They have small programs. I help them promote small programs, and they can buy things on small programs. In fact, it is quite difficult to purchase on behalf of others now. The epidemic situation in the UK is relatively serious, and domestic consumers are also very worried about all aspects of logistics. Many domestic people don't want to buy things that are mailed back directly from the UK for fear of carrying the virus, so I know some purchasing agents Friends also complained.

The restaurant industry is also less than ideal in the UK, because dining and tourism are also linked. Large luxury restaurants have been hit harder, and the government will give them certain compensation and support. Some of them can still survive, and some of them have closed down. But take-out is quite booming. The epidemic is equivalent to changing the consumption habits of British people and local Chinese. They are more willing to order online, and take-out software is also more popular.

3

Domestic tourism in France is particularly popular, and the occupancy rate of some rural homestays reaches 120%.

Narrator: Mr. Y

Character profile: settled in France for decades, freelancing, such as contributing to domestic media, organizing business groups, etc

In the past year, almost a single overseas tourist on my side has not been exposed to it. There are two kinds of Chinese who return to France. The first one is the Chinese who have lived in France for a long time. After visiting relatives or doing business from home, they return to France, and the other is overseas students. There are no other Chinese people. How can anyone travel to France in this extraordinary period?

There are fewer Chinese people, but the domestic tour in France is very good. After the epidemic hit, international tourism basically lost about 70% and 80%, but domestic tourism only lost about 20%. Therefore, the turnover of the entire French tourism industry did not drop sharply, mainly because domestic tourism had a positive impact.

In 2020, most French people choose to spend their holidays in China. The characteristic of this holiday is to carry out green tourism. In some places with fewer people, including many Parisian citizens, they have gone to their second residence in the countryside, or rent a house in the countryside, where they are \"isolated\", which leads to the development of tourism in many remote places in France. In addition, seaside tours were also hot last year, especially in summer, when tourism in the Mediterranean area was hot, and the Cote d 'Azur reached 70% and 80% of the usual reception volume.

There are also some scenic spots in big cities, such as the Louvre and Versailles, which are greatly affected. During the French ban, these scenic spots are closed, and they will not be opened to the public until the ban is lifted. But even if it is open, there are personnel restrictions. You have to make an appointment online and calculate how many people can enter. These places are mainly visited by international tourists, so their overall income has dropped sharply. The income of Louvre and Versailles probably exceeds 50%.

I saw international tourists in Paris, but they mainly came from neighboring countries, Belgians, Dutch, British, Germans and Spaniards, who came to France to travel. Because Europeans still regard pneumonia as a flu, for a period of time, the border was not blocked or checked at all. They came by car or by train, and I had the idea of driving to Italy to have fun. In June and July, Europeans felt that there was nothing to be afraid of, because you were wearing a mask and just paid attention to the hotel. Everyone thought so.

The Chinese tour guide industry in France is in decline, but there is a very important reason why people still feel that they can survive. France's assistance is very high.

If you work in a travel agency and are employed by a business as a tour guide, the travel agency pays you a salary. During the pandemic, you will get 83% of your salary, which is regulated by the government, so you are not greatly affected. If you are a freelancer and an individual tour guide business, the state will reduce the loan pressure for you, and give you a monthly subsidy of at least 1,500 euros.

Therefore, although the tour guide business in 2020 is cold and the income cannot be compared with before, it is still no problem to maintain a normal standard of living, and the medical resources are also quite developed. Whether you are sick or not, there is no money for testing. This is Still quite good.

I heard that some tour guides started to do overseas purchasing this year, but now this situation is not something you can do if you want. There are several important factors for overseas purchasing. First, you have to have your own customer base first. Second, the customs restrictions on purchasing are getting stricter and stricter. Third, during the grounding period, many shops are closed, and it is quite difficult for you to do purchasing.

But if you run a homestay in the countryside, it will be quite good. There is a characteristic of France. In rural areas, farmers have the right to rent their own houses for tourists, and the government collects very low taxes, just to encourage rural tourism. In the past year, rural hotels were very popular, and many popular tourist areas were fully booked in summer, reaching an occupancy rate of about 120%.

However, like Airbnb, it is relatively weak in rural areas. They are mainly homestays in big cities, such as Paris, and there are very few tourists. Therefore, this year, the tourism industry in Paris is in a state of relatively collapse, including Airbnb's big cities in France. It has also been hit hard.

The catering industry will be hit harder because the government allows it to operate for few hours. Of course, the government subsidies are also very strong. If high-end hotels don't open their doors, they can get most of the loan assistance from the state, and employees who don't go to work can also get most of their wages. This is called technical unemployment wages, which are borne by the government.

In addition, there were indeed a lot of takeout phenomenons in low-end and mid-end hotels last year. There have been many hotels in Paris that can be ordered online. Some restaurants can't open their doors normally, so they have transformed into online takeout ordering business. This is indeed true.

4

We haven't worked for a year, and we haven't seen Chinese grabbing masks in Japan

Dictator: Mr. D

File: Arrived in Japan in 2006, an employee of a local travel agency

When the epidemic first broke out in Japan in 2020, my colleagues and I had the same idea. We felt that if we controlled it, it would be fine by the May Day Golden Week. But when it came to May Day, the epidemic was still spreading, so I could only look forward to the National Day again. As a result, the National Day still didn't work, and I could only look forward to the New Year's Day. As a result, the New Year's Day still didn't work. The current inner state is to look forward to recovering this year.

But after the whole year of last year, everyone knows about the epidemic. There is no way to do it in the short term. It will take some time for everyone to get vaccinated when the vaccine comes out. This year, it may not be so optimistic.

Later, Japan issued several notices, prohibiting all overseas imports and all foreigners from entering Japan, but for us, such notices are no longer feeling anything, because no matter how anxious we are, no one will come and there is no way to do business.

The greater impact on everyone should have been in March, April and May last year. Everyone got used to it in the future. No matter what prohibition or opening up, everyone knows in their hearts that as long as the epidemic does not end, no matter how open it is, it will be short-lived. It may be open for a week and then stopped again.

Since February 2020, there have been basically no foreign tourists, but Japan has a policy to allocate some budget to subsidize tourism products in order to support its tourism industry and hotels. It has been implemented intermittently since last year, and as soon as the epidemic is serious, it will be stopped.

Domestic tours are in this state, and overseas tours are basically not expected. Although the government has no punishment measures for taking foreign groups now, travel agencies will not take risks to do this. First, no one will come, and the cost of business is not proportional to the income; Second, if someone in this group is infected, the company will be unable to do its future business, and this negative impact will still be great.

At present, there is no pure land in Japan to provide tourists, especially in Hokkaido, where the epidemic situation is very serious. Because at the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, Hokkaido entered the ice and snow season, and many foreign guests passed by, and then the virus was brought to Hokkaido. So when the epidemic first broke out in Japan, Hokkaido was the worst. In addition, other big cities like Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya have hundreds of confirmed cases a day.

Of course, there are also some places where the situation is slightly better, such as Yamayuki Prefecture and Akita Prefecture, where the economy is not very developed and the population mobility is not very large. Relatively speaking, the number of infected people is relatively small, and the daily growth is single digits. However, these individual counties will not open international routes alone to receive guests. If it is really open, it must be in a stable state of the whole country, otherwise it will be fully open, otherwise it will not be open. This can only be the case.

For more than a year, we have hardly had any jobs. Those who are engaged in tourism business have no guests, so it's useless to save ourselves. Now we can only make some videos, or do some publicity overseas through live webcasts, so as to accumulate some popularity for the future recovery of tourism industry. Anyway, Japanese people won't be idle, just find something to do when they have nothing to do.

Because I work in a company, my salary is guaranteed, but many friends, who are engaged in tourism business themselves, such as chartered car drivers, will be under greater pressure and will engage in some purchasing agents to make a living.

When it comes to purchasing, many people say that Chinese tourists bought masks in Japan in January, but I really didn't notice this. To be honest, Japanese masks are more expensive. The normal price of Japanese masks is fifty or sixty yuan a pack, which is not cheap compared with the time when domestic masks are in short supply. So there may be individuals coming to Japan to buy masks, but it is not a common phenomenon.

My income here has definitely decreased, and there is not so much business, so there is no overtime pay and subsidies, so the overall income has decreased somewhat. Because Japan's consumption is relatively high, it needs to provide housing, and families need to spend more places, so the past year has indeed been a bit tight.
","source":"txcj","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
I am a tour guide overseas: I have to return home after losing millions
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nI am a tour guide overseas: I have to return home after losing millions\n
\n
\n
\n腾讯财经2021-01-23 08:53\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Some of my fleet cars are not in so good condition.

\n
\n\n\n
,"home_visible":1,"media_name":"老虎资讯综合","id":"102","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1614430939,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1121615825?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-02-27 So far, about half of my fleet has been sold.

\n
\n\n\n
玩的。6月份、7月份的时候,欧洲人的感觉就是没有什么好怕的,因为你戴着口罩,到酒店注意一点就好了,大家都是这么认为的。\n在法国的华人导游业处于一片凋零,但是为什么大家还觉得能够过下去,有一个很重要的原因,法国的援助力度是非常高的。\n如果你是在旅行社工作,受雇于企业当导游,旅行社给你工资。疫情期间,你会得到83%的工资,这是政府规定的,所以你没受大的影响。如果你是自由职业者,个人做导游业务的,国家给你减轻贷款压力,此外每个月起码给你1500欧元的补助。\n所以,尽管2020年导游生意冷淡,收入不能跟以前比,但是维持正常的生活水准还是没问题的,医疗资源也挺发达,你是生了病还是没有生病,做检测都不要钱的,这点还是相当不错的。\n我听说有导游今年开始做海外代购,但是现在这个情况也不是你想做就能做。海外代购有几个重要因素,第一你要先有自己的客户群,第二海关对于代购的限制越来越严了,第三在禁足期间,很多商店都关门了,你要做代购也是相当困难。\n但如果你是在乡村开民宿的,就会相当不错。法国有一个特点,在乡村地区,农民有权利出租自己的房子给游客住,政府收税很低,就是为了鼓励乡村旅游的。过去一年农村酒店非常火,很多热门旅游地带在夏天期间全部订满,达到 120%左右的入住率。\n但像爱彼迎在乡村地区比较弱,他们主要是在大城市的民宿,比如巴黎,来旅游的人很少,所以今年巴黎的旅游业就处于一种比较崩溃的状态,包括爱彼迎在法国的大城市也受到了很大的打击。\n餐饮业受到的打击会比较大,因为政府允许它营业的时间很少。当然政府补助的力度也是非常大的。高档饭店不开门,就可以从国家拿大部分的贷款援助,不上班的员工也能拿到大部分工资,这个叫技术性失业工资,由政府承担。\n此外,中低档饭店做外卖的现象去年确实也挺多的,巴黎已经出现了很多可以网上订购的饭店,有些餐馆无法正常开门营业,就转型专门做网上订购外卖的业务,这个确实是有的。\n4\n我们已经一年没有活干了,没看到中国人在日本抢口罩\n口述人:D先生\n人物档案:2006年到日本,当地某旅行社员工\n2020年疫情在日本刚刚爆发的时候,我和同事的想法都一样,觉得控制一下,到了五一黄金周就好了。但是等到了五一,疫情还在蔓延,只能又盼十一,结果十一还是不行,又只能盼元旦,结果元旦还是不行,现在的内心状态就是盼着今年能恢复一些。\n但是经历了去年一整年,大家也知道疫情这个事情,短期没有办法,疫苗出来大家都接种要看一段时间,今年搞不好没那么乐观了。\n后来日本发布过几次通知,禁止一切境外输入,禁止所有外国人进入日本,但对于我们来说,这样的通知,已经没啥感觉了,因为再着急,也没人来,没办法开展业务。\n对大家比较大的影响应该是在去年三四五月份,后续大家都很习惯了,再有什么禁止也好,开放也好,大家心里都明白,只要疫情不结束,再怎么开放,也都是短暂的,说不定开放一个礼拜,又被叫停了。\n从2020年二月份至今,国外游客基本就没有了,但日本有一个政策,为了扶持本国的旅游业、酒店,拨出来一些预算给旅游产品做补贴。从去年开始断断续续的执行,只要疫情一严重,就把它停了。\n国内游都是这个状态,海外游基本没人期待,虽然现在带国外团,政府没有什么处罚措施,但是旅行社也不会去冒险做这个事情。第一是不会有人来,营业的成本和收入不成正比;第二,万一要是这个团有人感染,公司以后的业务就没有办法做了,这个负面影响还是很大的。\n目前看日本已经没有什么净土可以提供给游客了,尤其是北海道,疫情非常严重。因为2019年年底和2020年年初,北海道进入到冰雪季,很多国外客人的都过去了,然后就把病毒带到北海道。所以疫情刚在日本爆发的时候,北海道是最严重的。此外,其他像东京、大阪、名古屋这些大城市,一天的确诊病例都是成百上千人。\n当然,也有一些地方的情况稍微好一点,像山行县、秋田县这些经济不是很发达、人口流动不是很大的地方,相对来说感染人数比较少,每天的增长是个位数。但是这些个别的县也不会单独开通国际航线来接待客人,如果真是开放了,它一定是全国整体的稳定状态,要不然就全开,要不然就不开,只能是这样。\n这一年多,我们几乎没有什么工作,做旅游生意的,没有客人来,怎么自救也没用。我们现在只能做一些视频,或者通过网络直播,针对海外做一些宣传,为之后旅游业恢复,积累点人气。反正日本人不会闲着,没事就找事干。\n因为我是在公司上班,是有工资做保障的,但是很多朋友,自己在做旅游生意的,比如包车司机,他们的压力会比较大,会搞一些代购,维持生计。\n提到代购也说一点,很多人都说1月份有中国游客在日本大肆购买口罩,但这个我确实没注意到。说实话日本口罩比较贵。日本口罩正常价格是五六十块钱一包,跟国内口罩最紧缺的时候相比,卖的也都不便宜。所以可能会有个别人来日本买口罩,但不是普遍现象。\n我这边的收入肯定也是减少了,没有那么多业务了,也就没有加班费和补助费了,所以整体收入是有一些减少。因为日本的消费比较高,要供房,家庭需要开销的地方比较多,所以过去一年日子确实过得有点紧巴巴。","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1354,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
