million), as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to spur demand for hospital equipment.
\n
Analysts polled by the company on average had expected adjusted earnings before interest, taxes and amortisation (EBITA) to rise to 519 million euros in April-June, up from 390 million euros a year earlier.
\n
Philips sells products ranging from toothbrushes to medical imaging systems, and is a main competitor of General Electric and Siemens Healthineers .
\n
Comparable sales increased 9%, beating an average expectation of a 7.3% rise. However, sales in its connected care division fell, dragged lower by its sleep and respiratory care business.
\n
The company booked an additional provision of 250 million euros, following an earlier provision in the first quarter of this year, as it works to repair and replace millions of sleep devices it recalled earlier in June.
\n
Last month, Philips recalled up to 4 million breathing devices and ventilators because of a foam part that might degrade and become toxic, potentially causing cancer.
\n
\"We are in discussions with the relevant regulatory authorities to obtain authorisation to start deploying the repair kits and replacement devices that we are producing,\" Philips Chief Executive Frans van Houten said in a statement.
\n
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration last week classified the recall of Philips' breathing devices and ventilators as the most serious type of recall, saying the use of these devices may cause serious injuries or death.
\n
The Amsterdam-based company confirmed its forecast of low- to mid-single-digit comparable sales growth for the whole of 2021.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Analysts say a drop in the stock price that followed the news represents a buying opportunity.
\n
Last week, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said people should stop using Peloton’s Tread+ machine if they had small children or pets at home, asking the exercise equipment maker to recall the product.Peloton on Saturday called the warning “inaccurate and misleading.”
\n
Shares of Peloton (ticker: PTON) tumbled 9.6% on Monday. They are down more than 30% this year compared with a 10.7% gain in the S&P 500.
\n
The regulator cited 39 incidents, including the death, saying it believes the treadmill poses serious risks to children for abrasions, fractures, and death. It urged people who have children at home to stop using the machine.
\n
On Saturday, Peloton said there was no reason to stop using it, adding that children under 16 years old should not use it and that owners should keep children and pets away from it.
\n
Stifel analyst Scott Devitt confirmed his Buy rating on the stock and his target of $170 for the share price, saying the decline is a chance to buy.
\n
“While we don’t believe the event will have lasting consequences for the company, the timing of it isn’t great given the short-term vulnerability the stock has to increased human mobility,” he said in a note.
\n
Peloton, best known for its nearly $2,000 stationary bicycles and subscription spinning classes, won over customers in the past year because the closing of gyms and exercise studios as a result of the pandemic have forced people to work out from home. Perhaps because of the surge in popularity, the company also has struggled to keep up with demand, pledging to spend millions to speed up shipping and delivery.
\n
Now, the concern iswhether Peloton can hold on to its popularityas gyms reopen. Wall Street remains positive.
\n
JP Morgan analyst Doug Anmuth also said the stock-price drop is a buying opportunity, reiterating his Overweight rating on the shares.
\n
Peloton warned about the accident involving its treadmill last month. It has since taken steps to ensure the safety of the product, Anmuth said in a note. It won’t stop selling or recall the treadmills, he said, and it isn’t expected to delay the introduction of a lower-priced model next month.
\n
Truist analyst Youssef Squali also kept a Buy rating on Peloton shares, with a $160 price target. The CPSC warning is a “black eye” for the company, but won’t affect revenue and profit, he said.
\n
His target implies a 52% gain from the current price.
\n
Squali cited several reasons the CPSC’s warning will have little effect on Peloton’s near-term results. First, he said, it isn’t clear whether Tread+ is more dangerous than other treadmills. He cited CPSC data that 22,500 emergency-room visits were linked to treadmills in 2019. Peloton introduced Tread+ in 2018.
\n
Second, the analyst said, treadmills are popular, with more than 5 million sold annually. The demand has only increased because of the pandemic.
\n
Third, Peloton is projecting that treadmills will account for a bigger portion of its equipment sales in the coming year, he said.
\n

","source":"market_watch","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Peloton Stock Fell After Treadmill Warning. Ed Perlmutter, a Colorado Democrat, that would prohibit banking-system regulators from penalizing banks or credit unions that do business with a \"cannabis-related legitimate business,\" their servicer providers or state or local governments with jurisdiction over the businesses.
\n
\"After years of bringing up this issue, I'm thrilled to see overwhelming support for this bipartisan, commonsense legislation in the U.S. House once again. I feel optimistic about the path forward for the SAFE Banking Act and, more broadly, reforms to our federal cannabis laws,\" Perlmutter said in a statement.
\n
The bill would exempt cannabis business transactions from being considered proceeds from illegal activity and subject to anti-money-laundering laws. It would also prohibit banking regulators from asking banks to terminate a customer account unless there was a valid reason aside from reputation risk.
\n
The bill had passed the House before, in 2019, only to die in the Senate . The 2019 vote was 321-103.
\n
How the bill will fare in the Senate this time, while it is under Democratic control, is unclear and one industry analyst in January warned against investors becoming overly optimistic about the bill's chances.
\n
In February, Sen. Sherrod Brown, chairman of the Senate Banking Committee that would have jurisdiction over the bill once it arrived in the Senate, was reported as saying he wanted cannabis banking changes tied to an overhaul of prison sentences for drug-related offenses.
\n
In a statement late Monday, Brown's office said damage done to minority families from the war on drugs must be addressed but also noted the need for the banking legislation.
\n
\"Sen. Brown supports medical marijuana and decriminalization, and while he is not a cosponsor of the SAFE Banking Act he believes that we need to find real ways to allow the cannabis industry to access the banking system,\" his office said late Monday in a statement.
\n
\"As chairman of the Senate Banking and Housing Committee, Sen. Brown will continue to look for ways to ensure that the Black and brown communities, including minority-owned small businesses, most impacted by the war on drugs are able to participate in the cannabis economy and banking systems as decriminalization efforts move forward.\"
\n
In floor debate Monday, supporters said the bill would help businesses related to cannabis and also cut down on crime related to the cash nature of those businesses.
\n
\"Most importantly, this will reduce the risk of violent crime in our communities. Analysts say a drop in the stock price that followed the news represents a buying opportunity.
Analysts say a drop in the stock price that followed the news represents a buying opportunity.\nLast week, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said people should stop using Peloton’s Tread+ machine if they had small children or pets at home, asking the exercise equipment maker to recall the product.Peloton on Saturday called the warning “inaccurate and misleading.”\nShares of Peloton (ticker: PTON) tumbled 9.6% on Monday. They are down more than 30% this year compared with a 10.7% gain in the S&P 500.\nThe regulator cited 39 incidents, including the death, saying it believes the treadmill poses serious risks to children for abrasions, fractures, and death. It urged people who have children at home to stop using the machine.\nOn Saturday, Peloton said there was no reason to stop using it, adding that children under 16 years old should not use it and that owners should keep children and pets away from it.\nStifel analyst Scott Devitt confirmed his Buy rating on the stock and his target of $170 for the share price, saying the decline is a chance to buy.\n“While we don’t believe the event will have lasting consequences for the company, the timing of it isn’t great given the short-term vulnerability the stock has to increased human mobility,” he said in a note.\nPeloton, best known for its nearly $2,000 stationary bicycles and subscription spinning classes, won over customers in the past year because the closing of gyms and exercise studios as a result of the pandemic have forced people to work out from home. Perhaps because of the surge in popularity, the company also has struggled to keep up with demand, pledging to spend millions to speed up shipping and delivery.\nNow, the concern iswhether Peloton can hold on to its popularityas gyms reopen. Wall Street remains positive.\nJP Morgan analyst Doug Anmuth also said the stock-price drop is a buying opportunity, reiterating his Overweight rating on the shares.\nPeloton warned about the accident involving its treadmill last month. It has since taken steps to ensure the safety of the product, Anmuth said in a note. It won’t stop selling or recall the treadmills, he said, and it isn’t expected to delay the introduction of a lower-priced model next month.\nTruist analyst Youssef Squali also kept a Buy rating on Peloton shares, with a $160 price target. The CPSC warning is a “black eye” for the company, but won’t affect revenue and profit, he said.\nHis target implies a 52% gain from the current price.\nSquali cited several reasons the CPSC’s warning will have little effect on Peloton’s near-term results. First, he said, it isn’t clear whether Tread+ is more dangerous than other treadmills. He cited CPSC data that 22,500 emergency-room visits were linked to treadmills in 2019. Peloton introduced Tread+ in 2018.\nSecond, the analyst said, treadmills are popular, with more than 5 million sold annually. The demand has only increased because of the pandemic.\nThird, Peloton is projecting that treadmills will account for a bigger portion of its equipment sales in the coming year, he said.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"PTON":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1630,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":371012939,"gmtCreate":1618891851621,"gmtModify":1704716447690,"author":{"id":"3572357833590827","authorId":"3572357833590827","name":"Mang0Tang0","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d68fea41d85a92394ea71e1269f630cd","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3572357833590827","idStr":"3572357833590827"},"themes":[],"htmlText":".","listText":".","text":".","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/371012939","repostId":"2128815837","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2128815837","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Dow Jones publishes the world’s most trusted business news and financial information in a variety of media.","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Dow Jones","id":"106","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/150f88aa4d182df19190059f4a365e99"},"pubTimestamp":1618889220,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2128815837?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-20 11:27","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Cannabis-banking bill approved by House; future in Senate uncertain","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2128815837","media":"Dow Jones","summary":"Measure aims to make it easier for cannabis-related businesses to get access to financial services.\n","content":"
\n Measure aims to make it easier for cannabis-related businesses to get access to financial services.\n
\n
Marijuana-related businesses would have one industry obstacle -- access to the U.S. banking system -- made less burdensome under a bill that passed the House on Monday evening.
\n
The House, on an 321-101 vote, approved a bill sponsored by Rep.
