pandemic, a senior executive says.","content":"
Software giant Adobe is benefiting as the economy reopens as the Covid-19 pandemic wanes, a senior executive says. The company's beat-and-raise quarterly report provided proof of that. ADBE stock jumped on Friday.
\n
The maker of digital media and marketing software late Thursday reported fiscal second-quarter earnings that easily topped expectations. Adobe also guided above views for the current quarter.
\n
The San Jose, Calif.-based company earned an adjusted $3.03 a share on sales of $3.84 billion in the quarter ended June 4. On a year-over-year basis, Adobe earnings rose 24% while sales climbed 23%.
\n
For the current quarter, Adobe expects to earn an adjusted $3 a share, up 17%, on sales of $3.88 billion, up 20%.
\n
ADBE Stock Rises After Earnings Report
\n
In morning trading on the stock market today, ADBE stock advanced 2.2%, near 563.35. Earlier in the session, ADBE stock notched a record high 570.
\n
\"All three of our businesses — Creative Cloud, Document Cloud and Experience Cloud — just killed it this quarter with excellent performance,\" Chief Financial Officer John Murphy told Investor's Business Daily. \"Content creation and customer experience engagement in personalized ways are resonating across all of our businesses. And it's really driving the momentum and acceleration in the business.\"
\n
That momentum will continue in the company's seasonally weaker fiscal third quarter, Murphy said. The current quarter includes the summer months of June, July and August.
\n
\"The macroeconomic stability is giving a lot of enterprises confidence to invest again,\" Murphy said. \"Companies are prioritizing digital transformation.\"
\n
The reopening of the economy and return to offices after the pandemic should provide a tailwind for Adobe's business, he said.
\n
Analysts Raise Price Targets On Adobe Stock
\n
At least 15 Wall Street analysts raised their price targets on ADBE stock after the earnings report.
\n
Mizuho Securities analyst Gregg Moskowitz reiterated his buy rating on ADBE stock and upped his price target to 640 from 600.
\n
\"Adobe's expansive portfolio of software solutions has made it the gold standard in content creation, consumption, and collaboration,\" Moskowitz said in a note to clients. \"Adobe is very well positioned to benefit from digital transformation with its comprehensive end-to-end offering that differentiates it from competitors.\"
\n
On June 11, ADBE stock broke out of a 40-week consolidation period at a buy point of 536.98, according to IBD MarketSmith charts.
\n
However, IBD Leaderboard analysis offered investors an earlier buy point of 525.54 from a cup base within the larger consolidation pattern.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Adobe Getting Lift From Economic Reopening Post-Pandemic
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nAdobe Getting Lift From Economic Reopening Post-Pandemic\n
\n\n
\n\n\n<div class=\"head\" \">\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Investors
\n
2021-06-18 23:28
\n
\n\n
\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
Software giant Adobe is benefiting as the economy reopens as the Covid-19 pandemic wanes, a senior executive says. Zaslav emai","content":"
May 17 (Reuters) - It all started with two friends commiserating.Discovery Inc CEO David Zaslav emailed his counterpart at AT&T Inc , John Stankey, on a Sunday afternoon in February to lament how the COVID-19 pandemic had led to them missing the AT&T Pebble Beach golf tournament in California, where the two friends had planned to meet.
\n
After reading Zaslav's email, which included emojis of a person playing golf and another one with sunglasses, Stankey got on the phone, and the pair spoke for two hours.
\n
The conversation turned to business. That led barely three months later to the announcement on Monday of a merger deal between Discovery and AT&T's WarnerMedia with an enterprise value of more than $120 billion.
\n
This account of how the transaction came together is based on details from interviews with Stankey and Zaslav as well as from sources close to the deal.
\n
WarnerMedia, which AT&T acquired for $108.7 billion in 2018, had become an albatross for Stankey, who came in as CEO last year. He wanted to reduce the strain on AT&T's finances. The company was investing heavily in the race for 5G phone services, including spending $23.4 billion in a wireless spectrum auction in February.
\n
Stankey felt that no matter how well WarnerMedia, which owns HBO, CNN and TNT, performed, its value would not be reflected in AT&T's share price. Investors still valued the company primarily as a wireless carrier.
\n
Zaslav, on the other hand, wanted to double down in media. The rise of TV streaming had left Discovery, owner of lifestyle networks such as Food Network, TLC and OWN, competing against Netflix Inc , Walt Disney Co and Amazon.com Inc.
\n
Zaslav believed Discovery needed scale and felt its $14.6 billion acquisition of Scripps Networks Interactive in 2018 was not enough. BTC was up 4.46% at $57,201.19 and ETH was higher by 3.71% at $3,484.ETC is trading 10.43% below the all-time high of $100.03 it reached on Wednesday.Ethereum Classiccame into existenceafter a hard fork of the Ethereum blockchain took place in 2016 due to prevailing disagreements at the time in the community.Barry Silbert — CEO of Digital Currency Group, which owns Grayscale — is a well-known proponent of ETC.On Wednesday, Ethereum Classic noted that theGrayscale Ethereum Classic Trust(OTC:ETCG) has over $1 billion in assets under management.ETCG closed 27.76% higher at $67.15 on Wednesday. Why It Matters:ETC has caught the attention of the social media investment crowd. The cryptocurrency’s ticker featured in the Stocktwits list of top 10 trending streams at press time. The rise in ETC is despite the fact that it is not typically classified as an “Ethereum Killer,” which is thecase with several coinssuch asPolkadot(DOT),Solana(SOL), andCardano(ADA).Synergia Capital’s head of research, Denis Vinokourov, said that the rise in ETC “appears to be dominated by ‘cheaper’ Ethereum play and retail flow that has pushed DOGE to sky-high levels,” CoinDeskreported, dubbing the surge in ETC as a sign of froth in the cryptocurrency market.ETC’s retail fueled rise is similar to the story ofDogecoin(DOGE), which has soared 13,604.64% since the year began. However, even DOGE’s weekly gains of 102.68% are weaker than those of ETC. DOGE traded 6.63% higher at $0.63 at press time.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":432,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":105123408,"gmtCreate":1620279918604,"gmtModify":1704341275314,"author":{"id":"3579816021405986","authorId":"3579816021405986","name":"pokimon","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579816021405986","authorIdStr":"3579816021405986"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/105123408","repostId":"2133652936","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":552,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":195535096,"gmtCreate":1621300996915,"gmtModify":1704355375281,"author":{"id":"3579816021405986","authorId":"3579816021405986","name":"pokimon","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579816021405986","authorIdStr":"3579816021405986"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Okay ?","listText":"Okay ?","text":"Okay ?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/195535096","repostId":"2136295438","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2136295438","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1621286069,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2136295438?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-18 05:14","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Wall St ends lower, pulled down by tech stocks","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2136295438","media":"Reuters","summary":"* Discovery down after deal to merge with AT&T's media unit* Indexes down: Dow 0.16%, S&P 0.25%, Nas","content":"
* Discovery down after deal to merge with AT&T's media unit

* Indexes down: Dow 0.16%, S&P 0.25%, Nasdaq 0.38%

May 17 (Reuters) - Wall Street ended lower on Monday, weighed down by tech shares as signs of growing inflation worried investors about the potential for tighter monetary policy.

Of the 11 major S&P sectors that declined, technology, utilities and communication services were the biggest losers, each down between 0.7% and 0.9%.

\"What is causing the decline, no surprise to anybody, is the worry about inflation and interest rates,\" said Sam Stovall, chief investment strategist at CFRA Research in New York.

\"As a result that's causing the growth group, in particular technology and consumer discretionary stocks, to experience weakness, while some of the more value-oriented groups are holding up a bit better.\"

The S&P 500 scored its biggest one-day jump in more than a month on Friday as investors picked up beaten-down stocks following a pullback earlier in the week on worries about inflation and a sooner-than-expected tightening by the U.S. Federal Reserve.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 56.34 points, or 0.16%, to 34,326.01; the S&P 500 lost 10.56 points, or 0.25%, at 4,163.43; and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 50.93 points, or 0.38%, to 13,379.05.

Earnings this week will be scrutinized for clues on whether rising prices had any impact on consumer demand and if retailers can sustain their strong earnings momentum.

Cryptocurrency-related stocks like Marathon Digital, Riot Blockchain and Coinbase fell between 3% and 7% as bitcoin swung in volatile trading after Tesla Inc boss Elon Musk tweeted about the carmaker's bitcoin holdings.

With the earnings season at its tail end, overall earnings for S&P 500 companies are expected to have climbed 50.6% from a year ago, according to Refinitiv IBES, the strongest pace in 11 years.

AT&T Inc, owner of HBO and Warner Bros studios, and Discovery Inc , home to lifestyle TV networks such as HGTV and TLC, said on Monday they will combine their content assets to create a standalone global entertainment and media business.
