knows that Warren Buffett is one of the best investors in the world. The Oracle of Omaha, as he is called, is not only intelligent, but he also has the patience and tenacity to sift out quality companies. He has a list of criteria for the stocks that he holds for the long term within his portfolio. These companies should have a strong competitive moat, pay healthy dividends, and generate good free cash flow.If Buffett were to invest in the Singapore stock market, here are three Singapore stocks that he could consider purchasing.VICOM (SGX: WJP)VICOM is a leading provider of inspection and technical testing services. The group not only inspects vehicles but also conducts a comprehensive range of inspection and testing services in fields such as mechanical, biochemical, civil engineering, and non-destructive testing.VICOM is also a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro Corporation (SGX: C52), a land transport operator. For 2024, the group inspected a total of 525,108 vehicles, giving it a close-to-73% market share of the vehicular inspection market. This dominant market share should make it attractive in the eyes of the Oracle of Omaha, as this means VICOM has limited competition in this area. The group released an encouraging set of earnings for the first quarter of 2025 (1Q 2025).Revenue jumped nearly 19% year on year to S$33.3 million while operating profit increased by 8.7% year on year to S$9 million.Net profit improved by 7.5% year on year to S$7.5 million. The business also generated a positive free cash flow of S$4.5 million for the quarter.VICOM is continuing with the installation of the on-board unit (OBU) for Electronic Road Pricing 2.0 and has, during the quarter, installed more than 53,000 OBUs.However, management warned that trade tensions, along with Trump’s tariffs, could dampen the growth of Singapore’s economy and negatively impact its non-vehicle testing segment.DBS Group (SGX: D05)DBS is the largest of the three local banks by market capitalisation and is one of the key pillars of Singapore’s economy.Buffett has investments in several US banks, and he should look upon DBS favourably as Singapore’s largest bank reported impressive financials and metrics. For 2024, the lender’s net profit hit a record of S$11.4 billion, up 11% year on year. Its return on equity (ROE) was also an impressive 18%, maintained from the previous year.Fast forward to 1Q 2025, and profit before tax also came in at a record S$3.4 billion as total income grew 6% year on year to a new high of S$5.9 billion.ROE came in at 17.3%.The lender also drew in record fee income from wealth management and credit card fees.To manage its excess capital, DBS declared an ordinary interim dividend of S$0.60 and a capital return dividend of S$0.15, taking its total 1Q 2025 dividend to S$0.75.This dividend is nearly 39% higher than the S$0.54 paid out a year ago.The bank has strengthened its balance sheet allowances in light of potential trade disruptions amid higher tariffs. However, CEO Tan Su Shan sees opportunities in new growth corridors and sectors.Continued wealth inflows should also maintain DBS’s fee income, while loans may grow faster should interest rates fall.Raffles Medical Group (SGX: BSL)Raffles Medical Group, or RMG, is an integrated healthcare player with a network of four hospitals and more than 100 multi-disciplinary clinics. The group offers a comprehensive range of healthcare and medical services, including health screening, specialist care, dental, and TCM.Buffett will likely favour RMG’s multi-disciplinary approach, its strong brand, and its long track record of healthy financial performance. For 2024, the group reported a mixed set of earnings as revenue from COVID-19 diagnostics and procedures tailed off.Revenue rose 6.3% year on year to S$751.6 million, but operating profit declined 28.7% year on year to S$82.5 million.Net profit fell by 31% year on year to S$62.2 million. The integrated healthcare player declared a final dividend of S$0.025.Management also intends to buy back up to 100 million ordinary shares in the next two years as a way of enhancing its earnings per share.RMG announced several initiatives and collaborations in China over the past few months. In April, the group signed a collaboration agreement with Renji Hospital in Shanghai to advance a new model of collaborative development between public hospitals and international medical groups.Just last month, RMG and the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Municipality signed a cooperation agreement to integrate international expertise with local strengths to enhance the overall medical service capabilities of Chongqing.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"C52.SI":1,"ROE":1,"BSL.SI":1,"WJP.SI":1,"RJAW.SI":0.9,"D05.SI":1,"BRK.B":1,"ORCL":0.8,"V01.SI":0.6}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":514,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":454233335181608,"gmtCreate":1751927405572,"gmtModify":1751939273466,"author":{"id":"4181693140227582","authorId":"4181693140227582","name":"LTCGT","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/1a080a8473844a39c6eefd834d99cab2","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4181693140227582","authorIdStr":"4181693140227582"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"When investors hoping that CEO Elon Musk would stay out of politics after leaving his position in the Trump administration are going to be sorely disappointed -- again.

Disappointment is rarely good for stock prices.

On Saturday, Musk announced he was forming the "America Party," after running a poll on X asking if a new political party should be created. Musk has more than 225 million followers on X, and the poll garnered almost 79 million votes, with 65.4% saying "Yes" to a new party.

The move comes after Musk's strong opposition to President Donald Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill," which was signed into law on Friday. The bill includes tax cuts and will increase the national debt by almost $4 trillion over 10 years, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. Musk, who led Trump's efforts to slash the government while at the Department of Government Efficiency, opposes the debt increases.

But Musk's political activities couldn't come at a worse time for his businesses, according to Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives. Tesla is in the midst of launching long-expected self-driving taxis, which Ives and other Wall Street analysts believe can be worth between hundreds of billions to trillions of dollars for Tesla. What's more, Tesla plans to start selling significant quantities of humanoid robots in 2026.

"Very simply, Musk diving deeper into politics and now trying to take on the Beltway establishment is exactly the opposite direction that Tesla investors/shareholders want him to take during this crucial period for the Tesla story," wrote Ives on Sunday.

In a post on his own social media platform, Trump said third parties rarely work, and he lashed out at Musk.

"I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely "off the rails," essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks," Trump said using his characteristic capitalization for emphasis. "He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States -- The System seems not designed for them. The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS."

AI-trained taxis and robots haven't generated significant sales for Tesla yet. That still comes mainly from electric vehicles, and Tesla's EV business needs repair. Tesla sold about 721,000 vehicles in the first half of 2025, down 13% from a year ago. Wall Street, at the end of 2025, expected first half sales to land closer to 970,000 vehicles on the way to selling some 2.1 million cars this year. Now, analysts project 1.7 million vehicles sold, down from 1.8 million sold in 2024.

Politics played some role in the disappointing sales results, with Musk turning off some core EV buyers, namely politically left-leaning people looking to go green. Tesla management acknowledged brand challenges on their first quarter earnings conference call in April. Tesla reports second-quarter earnings on July 23. That will be an interesting conference call.

Coming into Monday trading, Tesla stock was up 25% since the Nov. 5 election, down 22% year to date, up 17% since news that Musk was likely to leave DOGE in early April, and down 8% since a spat broke out between Trump and Musk on social media in early June.

"While the core Musk supporters will back Musk at every turn no matter what, there is [a] broader sense of exhaustion from many Tesla investors that Musk keeps heading down the political track," added Ives. "After leaving...DOGE, there was initial relief from Tesla shareholders and big supporters of the name that Tesla just got back its biggest asset, Musk. That relief lasted a very short time and now has a taken a turn for the worst with this latest announcement."

Ives expects Tesla stock to be under pressure on Monday. He still rates shares a Buy and has a $500 price target.

Fairlead Strategies founder and market technician Katie Stockton has noted recently that Tesla stock has support in the $300 range. That is a level investors can watch on Monday.

Stockton isn't making a fundamental call on shares. She is using stock charts and market history to understand where investors have tended to buy and sell Tesla stock in the past.

As for the impact on the country, that's harder to say.

Politics played some role in the disappointing sales results, with Musk turning off some core EV buyers, namely politically left-leaning people looking to go green. knows that Warren Buffett is one of the best investors in the world.

Musk provided few specifics. "In the near term, the America Party idea appears likely to make [life] even more unpredictable," says Carl Tobias, Williams Chair in Law at the University of Richmond. In "the looming 2026 midterm elections...the GOP and Democrats will do all possible to win razor-thin majorities in the Senate and House."

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNN's State of the Union on Sunday that while the cost-cutting principles of DOGE were popular with voters, Musk was not.

"I believe that the boards of directors at his various companies wanted him to come back and run those companies," Bessent told CNN. "So, I imagine that those boards of directors did not like this announcement yesterday and will be encouraging him to focus on his business activities, not his political activities."

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
What Musk’s \"America Party\" Means for Tesla Stock (Hint: It Isn’t Good)
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhat Musk’s \"America Party\" Means for Tesla Stock (Hint: It Isn’t Good)\n
\n\n
\n\n\n<div class=\"head\" \">\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Dow Jones
\n
2025-07-07 13:30
\n
\n\n
\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n

Tesla investors hoping that CEO Elon Musk would stay out of politics after leaving his position in the Trump administration are going to be sorely disappointed -- again.

Disappointment is rarely good for stock prices.

On Saturday, Musk announced he was forming the "America Party," after running a poll on X asking if a new political party should be created. Musk has more than 225 million followers on X, and the poll garnered almost 79 million votes, with 65.4% saying \"Yes\" to a new party.The move comes after Musk's strong opposition to President Donald Trump's \"One Big Beautiful Bill,\" which was signed into law on Friday. The bill includes tax cuts and will increase the national debt by almost $4 trillion over 10 years, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. Musk, who led Trump's efforts to slash the government while at the Department of Government Efficiency, opposes the debt increases.But Musk's political activities couldn't come at a worse time for his businesses, according to Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives. Tesla is in the midst of launching long-expected self-driving taxis, which Ives and other Wall Street analysts believe can be worth between hundreds of billions to trillions of dollars for Tesla. What's more, Tesla plans to start selling significant quantities of humanoid robots in 2026.\"Very simply, Musk diving deeper into politics and now trying to take on the Beltway establishment is exactly the opposite direction that Tesla investors/shareholders want him to take during this crucial period for the Tesla story,\" wrote Ives on Sunday.In a post on his own social media platform, Trump said third parties rarely work, and he lashed out at Musk.\"I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely \"off the rails,\" essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks,\" Trump said using his characteristic capitalization for emphasis. \"He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States -- The System seems not designed for them. The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS.\"AI-trained taxis and robots haven't generated significant sales for Tesla yet. That still comes mainly from electric vehicles, and Tesla's EV business needs repair. Tesla sold about 721,000 vehicles in the first half of 2025, down 13% from a year ago. Wall Street, at the end of 2025, expected first half sales to land closer to 970,000 vehicles on the way to selling some 2.1 million cars this year. Now, analysts project 1.7 million vehicles sold, down from 1.8 million sold in 2024.Politics played some role in the disappointing sales results, with Musk turning off some core EV buyers, namely politically left-leaning people looking to go green. Tesla management acknowledged brand challenges on their first quarter earnings conference call in April. Tesla reports second-quarter earnings on July 23. That will be an interesting conference call.Coming into Monday trading, Tesla stock was up 25% since the Nov. 5 election, down 22% year to date, up 17% since news that Musk was likely to leave DOGE in early April, and down 8% since a spat broke out between Trump and Musk on social media in early June.\"While the core Musk supporters will back Musk at every turn no matter what, there is [a] broader sense of exhaustion from many Tesla investors that Musk keeps heading down the political track,\" added Ives. \"After leaving...DOGE, there was initial relief from Tesla shareholders and big supporters of the name that Tesla just got back its biggest asset, Musk. That relief lasted a very short time and now has a taken a turn for the worst with this latest announcement.\"Ives expects Tesla stock to be under pressure on Monday. He still rates shares a Buy and has a $500 price target.Fairlead Strategies founder and market technician Katie Stockton has noted recently that Tesla stock has support in the $300 range. That is a level investors can watch on Monday.Stockton isn't making a fundamental call on shares. She is using stock charts and market history to understand where investors have tended to buy and sell Tesla stock in the past.As for the impact on the country, that's harder to say. Musk provided few specifics. \"In the near term, the America Party idea appears likely to make [life] even more unpredictable,\" says Carl Tobias, Williams Chair in Law at the University of Richmond. In \"the looming 2026 midterm elections...the GOP and Democrats will do all possible to win razor-thin majorities in the Senate and House.\"Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNN's State of the Union on Sunday that while the cost-cutting principles of DOGE were popular with voters, Musk was not.\"I believe that the boards of directors at his various companies wanted him to come back and run those companies,\" Bessent told CNN. \"So, I imagine that those boards of directors did not like this announcement yesterday and will be encouraging him to focus on his business activities, not his political activities.\"","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSYW.SI":0.6,"TSLA":1,"TSLL":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":672,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
