In fact, they’ve shot up by around 40% since the end of May.Why are investors suddenly keen on the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) company? And is the stock worth buying at $10? Let’s take a look.A change of tackTesla kicked off an EV price war last year when it started lowering vehicle prices. This has since forced around 40 brands operating in the Chinese EV market to follow suit.In April, though, NIO founder and chief executive William Li said: “For us, we will certainly not join the price war”.However, last month, the automaker announced that it too would finally be cutting prices. It would reduce them by 6% to 9% (around $4,100) on all models from 12 June.Investors took to this news, assuming that the discounts will stoke demand.Further pragmatismNIO is known for its advanced innovative technology. It has made battery swapping a key selling point, enabling customers to purchase vehicles at a lower price if they sign up for its battery-as-a-service offering. It has built nearly 1,500 swapping stations to date and intends to operate 5,000 by 2030.However, in another pragmatic move, the company will end its free battery-swapping services for new buyers.Separately, it also announced it would start charging drivers 380 yuan (or around $52) a month to use its latest driver-assistance system. This software assists with things like parking and highway lane changes.These changes seem necessary. The firm’s gross margin was just 1.5% in the first quarter of 2023, down from 14.6% in the first quarter of 2022. Price cuts are hardly going to improve things here, so it needs additional ways of bringing in money.A welcome cash injectionIn Q1, NIO delivered 31,041 vehicles. This was a 20.5% increase from the same period last year, though it did represent a 22.5% decline from the fourth quarter of 2022. The good news though is that it has released a handful of new models this year, which should fuel further growth.That said, it still posted a massive $690m quarterly net loss. This left it with $5.5bn in cash and equivalents, as of 31 March, down from $8.4bn a year earlier.So investors cheered an update from the firm on 20 June announcing a strategic $1.1bn investment from an Abu Dhabi government fund. This cash is intended to help fund NIO’s international growth.Buying the stock todayNIO is a hard stock to value. It has no earnings, so most traditional valuation metrics are useless. On a price-to-sales (P/S) multiple, however, the stock looks quite attractive today. It has a P/S of 2.4, which is the lowest that metric has been since 2019.Whether that proves to be good value in future is anyone’s guess at this point. NIO’s market cap of $17.6bn could prove to be unreasonably small if the firm starts generating big profits. If upgraded on a yearly basis, the cost is RMB 9,800 per year.Prior to Nio's launch of the flexible battery upgrade program, half of the customers chose the standard range battery pack at the time of purchase, and the other half chose the 100-kWh long range battery pack.After the program became available, 90 percent of customers chose the standard range pack, while the number of customers choosing the long-range pack was reduced to 10 percent, which can help save 17 percent of battery materials, Nio co-founder and president Qin Lihong said at today's event.20-kW V2G chargersNio is actively engaged in its replenishment system's interaction with the power grid, beyond providing battery swap stations and charging stations available to vehicle owners.The company today unveiled its 20-kW V2G (vehicle-to-grid) charger, which adds a discharge function in addition to charging.With the help of this charger, vehicles can interact with the grid, allowing EVs to receive power when the grid is idle and release power when the grid load is high.Nio owners can choose to charge their vehicles during low-priced hours and make the excess power available to the grid through this V2G charger.For the grid, this makes it possible for vehicles to participate in load regulation, helping to improve grid efficiency and reliability.Nio has partnered with Qilian Mountain National Park to build the world's first V2G photovoltaic self-cycling energy replenishment system, which will be officially put into operation in August, Qin said.Infrastructure target could be realized ahead of scheduleTo date, Nio has 1,564 battery swap stations and 1,509 supercharging stations providing 7,394 charging piles in China.Nio's battery swap stations in China are expected to reach 1,600 in the next week, with the probability of adding more than 100 new battery swap stations in July, Qin said.The company currently has three battery swap stations assembly plants in China, and Nio will be able to deploy these stations faster as the plants ramp up capacity.Nio is likely to meet its goal of adding 1,000 battery swap stations this year one month ahead of schedule, and will continue to push ahead with its aggressive infrastructure program next year, Qin said.Nio's first third-generation battery swap station deployed in Europe is in Sweden and is expected to be available to customers in August.150-kWh battery may be slightly delayedOn May 24, at the launch of the new ES6, Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li announced that its 150-kWh semisolid battery pack would be available in July.However, judging by Qin's words today, the ultra-long-range battery pack will likely be slightly delayed, perhaps not available until August.There's a slight change in the availability of Nio's 150-kWh packs, but it's coming soon, and there will be a dedicated event for it, Qin said.The development and validation of that 150-kWh pack has taken longer than expected, but Nio's operational readiness for the pack has been moving forward, he said.The model of upgrading the battery on a day-to-day basis was originally meant for the 150-kWh battery pack, as upgrading it on a monthly basis might seem expensive, he said.Nio unveiled the 150-kWh semi-solid-state battery when it launched its flagship sedan Nio ET7 at the Nio Day 2020 event on January 9, 2021, claiming that it would give the vehicle a range of more than 1,000 km.Since then, the battery's delivery schedule has been delayed several times, and Nio filed for the use of the pack in its models in early May this year.Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology, the supplier of the semi-solid-state battery cells, began delivering the cells to Nio on June 30, and the latter updated the user manuals for its vehicles earlier this month to include the 150-kWh packs.Vehicle sales pick upNio's sales pickup in June was expected, and July will have a number that gives further confidence, according to Qin.There is indeed some internal cannibalization between different models, but in terms of strategic thinking across the lineup, a premium brand will tend to offer users a more personalized product, Qin said in response to a question about whether Nio has too many EV models.The more premium a brand is, the more personalized the product will be, and the more mass-market it is, the easier it is to standardize the product, he said.As a premium brand, Nio won't have very few products, but compared to German premium carmakers BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi, Nio has a lot fewer models, Qin saidNio delivered 10,707 vehicles in June, up 73.96 percent from May, as deliveries of several new models began recently.Nio sold 3,900 units last week, up 25.81 percent from 3,100 units the week before, according to data shared by Li Shutterstock.comJuly thus far has been a great month for electric vehicle stocks, and Nio (NYSE:NIO) stock is no exception.Already trending higher at the start of the month, NIO stock has kept climbing, making its way back to double-digit prices for the first time in months.Some of the latest rally for the China-based EV maker has been driven by company-related news. However, much of it is rising bullishness for the EV industry at-large.Strong monthly delivery numbers from several EV makers, plus news perceived to be bullish for EV sales growth in China, has further convinced investors that Nio will come along for the ride. Even so, I’m not convinced.Instead, while conceding that the current sentiment for Nio could hold in the near-term, the most relevant facts still point to disappointment and big losses ahead for this EV stock.NIO Stock: Latest Delivery Numbers Mixed at BestChances are you’ve seen recent headlines touting better-than-expected delivery numbers for major EV makers, and not only Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA).Several high-profile U.S. and Chinese EV contenders have also reported solid results as of late. Nio, though, is not in that category.Sure, NIO stock did move higher after the release of Nio’s latest monthly delivery update, but was it for the right reasons?The market focused only on the positive aspects of the update, and none on the negative aspects. For instance, during June, the company delivered a total of 10,707 vehicles.Compared to Nio’s May delivery results (6,155 vehicles), this appeared to be a sign of massive growth re-acceleration.Yet while sales were up on a sequential (month-over-month) basis, on a year-over-year basis, sales were down by around 17%. In short, far from “crushing it” as its rivals may be right now, for the prior month, Nio’s delivery numbers were mixed at best.Still, I don’t assume investors will quickly come to the same conclusion. However, the view that sequential sales growth, plus strong overall demand growth for EVs, bodes well for the company can only prevail for so long.The Bear Case Keeps StrengtheningPreviously, I have discussed a possible bearish scenario for NIO stock between now and year’s end. There are two ways the company could underwhelm investors. Even if just one happen, it may lead to a big reversal for shares.First, high competition from Tesla and local-based EV companies could hinder sales growth this quarter and next quarter.Second, Nio’s move to slash vehicle prices, which is the result of the intensifying competition, will negatively affect vehicle margins. In turn, resulting in greater-than-expected operating losses.Market confidence in the bull case may be growing right now. However, recently additional factors have emerged pointing to the bear case ultimately playing out. Tesla has once again cut prices for its vehicles in China.A prominent China-based EV maker, BYD Company Limited (OTCMKTS:BYDDF), is gearing up to launch a vehicle that could leave Tesla and Nio’s respective premium midsize crossover offerings in the dust.That’s not all. Along with the fact competitive pressures keep rising, the further threat of a price war has not gone away. As InvestorPlace’s Eddie Pan reported July 11, Chinese antitrust law has squashed an attempt to implement a “price war truce.”Don’t End Up Stuck Holding the BagSince June, a bullish stance has paid off for NIO investors. However, as some of them decide to take profit, don’t be tempted to buy what they are selling. You could end up stuck holding the bag.Monthly deliveries may not rise meaningfully over the next six months. The ongoing price war could do even greater damage to Nio’s margins. If one or both things play out, expect the stock to experience a big reversal.Yes, there have been some developments recently that could change the story in the long run. Local EV startup Nio, Inc. has joined EV leader Tesla, Inc. in suspending production at its plant.What Happened: Shanghai-headquartered Nio said it is halting car production, CnEVPost reported, citing a statement posted by the company on its mobile app. The company blamed the predicament on issues with several of its suppliers, which had to shutter plants is several places, including Jilin, Shanghai and Jiangsu.These companies are yet to resume production in full swing.\"There will be a delay in the delivery of vehicles for many customers in the near future, and we ask for your understanding.\"Nio reportedly said it will work with its supply chain partners to resume production and meet delivery obligations as soon as possible. At the same time, the company said it will adhere with the COVID protocols put in place.Why It's Important: Nio shares are stuck in a rut after peaking at $66.99 in early January 2021. Faced with production disruptions, the company had to rein in deliveries during the year.That was all expected to change with the dawn of 2022, as the company planned to roll out at least three new models over the course of the year. Nio began deliveries of one of the three models – the ET7 sedan – in late March.The COVID outbreak in China appears to be pouring cold water on the company's recovery plans. Nio reported earlier this month it delivered 25,768 cars in the first quarter, a quarterly record.Incidentally, Tesla's Giga Shanghai is currently under a shutdown. It sunk to a new 52-week low of $56.80 in the early afternoon on Thursday.So whatIt's becoming clear that Novavax is falling behind its peers in its ongoing efforts to get an Emergency Use Authorization (EAU) for its COVID-19 vaccine to be used as a booster shot in the U.S.On March 29, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) amended the EUAs for the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines produced by Moderna and the Pfizer-BioNTech partnership to allow second booster shots to be given to individuals 50 and over and to people who are immunocompromised.Novavax's vaccine, NVX-CoV2373, is protein-based, not mRNA-based, and has been approved already in 35 countries, including Australia, Canada, Great Britain, and all of the members of the European Union -- but not in the U.S. The concern among investors is that by the time Novavax does get U.S. approval for its vaccine, the potential market for the shot here will have shrunk considerably.Part of the problem is that Novavax didn't complete its U.S. EAU request until Jan. 31. Given the delays that have stalled its vaccine approval here, it may be too late to catch up.Now whatIt's not all bad news. The company sold plenty of vaccines elsewhere. Last year, thanks mostly to its COVID-19 vaccine, the company reported sales of $1.1 billion, up from $476 million in 2020. However, its sales in the fourth quarter slowed year over year to $222 million compared to $280 million in the prior-year period. For the year, the company had a net loss of $1.7 billion compared to a loss of $418 million in 2020. In Q4, it reported a loss of $846 million, compared to a loss of $178 million in the same period in 2020.Management says it expects the biotech company to finally turn things around this year, guiding for 2022 revenue in the $4 billion to $5 billion range.Based on management's outlook, the stock is trading at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 2.78, so if it hits its targets, investors should look back on today's share prices as a great bargain. In a race to disrupt residential real estate, one of the largest markets in the world, Opendoor's long-term potential could bring big returns for patient investors.</p>\n<p>Despite the upside, the market hasn't yet appreciated Opendoor's accomplishments; the stock is down more than 50% from its highs. There are three important clues that Opendoor could be a compelling investment idea for bold investors.</p>\n<h3>1. Opendoor is winning the iBuying battle</h3>\n<p>The traditional home-buying process in the United States is slow and handled by multiple parties, including agents, lawyers, inspectors, and bankers. This creates a lot of back and forth paperwork and drags the process out to more than 30 days, on average.</p>\n<p>Opendoor pioneered the concept of \"iBuying,\" where the buying and selling of a house are digitized, and a company like Opendoor works directly with sellers to provide them with a cash offer and a digital closing process. The company then resells the house on the market. The iBuying process cuts out agents and some of the fees associated with traditional closings, such as agent commissions. Opendoor then resells the house on the market and charges a service fee of up to 5% on the transaction.</p>\n<p>After seeing Opendoor steadily grow with its iBuying concept, competitors have also begun to offer iBuying services, including&nbsp;<b>Zillow Group</b>&nbsp;and Offerpad. Because of how capital intensive the business is (a lot of money is needed to buy and sell thousands of houses) and how price competitive the housing market is, these companies are racing to get as big as possible. As the companies buy and sell more homes, they have the ability to become more profitable by leveraging outsourced contractors to save money, and its pricing algorithm improves as it sees more transactions.</p>\n<p>According to iBuyerStats, a website dedicated to tracking the competitors found in iBuying, Opendoor has consistently had the most housing inventory available for sale. It currently has roughly 3,300 houses for sale, 53% more than Zillow and more than four times as many as Offerpad.</p>\n<h3>2. Revenue growth is ahead of schedule</h3>\n<p>When companies go public viaSPACmerger, they lay out a public presentation of their business, often including long-term growth projections. Opendoor laid out its pre-merger investor presentation about a year ago, in September 2020.</p>\n<p>Fast forward to the company's recent 2021 Q2 earnings call. CEO and founder Eric Wu said on the earnings call, \"... based on our current progress, our second half revenue run rate is on track to exceed our 2023 target, a full two years ahead of plan.\"</p>\n<p>In other words, if Opendoor were to operate for 12 months at the level the business currently is, it would surpass the $9.8 billion in revenue it projected for 2023. This is an underlooked point because if Opendoor is already two years ahead of its original growth curve, where will it be by 2023? Sure, a dip in the housing market or other events could disrupt the company's speed of growth, but Opendoor is showing the world that the business is operating at a high level.</p>\n<h3>3. SPACs are out of favor with the market... opportunity?</h3>\n<p>Investors have overlooked this strong performance, focusing instead on the fact that Opendoor joined the public market via SPAC merger. It has hardly mattered what operating results or earnings have looked like for former SPACs; the stock market has been selling off virtually all SPAC-based stocks for several months now.</p>\n<p>Investors have been spooked by a handful of \"bad apple\" companies turning up fraudulent, and other companies have wildly missed on the projections they made before going public. These instances have burned those involved, and investors have taken a much more cautious attitude toward SPACs as a whole.</p>\n<p>But if companies like Opendoor keep blowing away estimates, the market is likely to come around eventually. When it does, the stock price could move aggressively. If we take Eric Wu's comments about revenue and assume that Opendoor does sales of $10 billion in 2022 (in other words, Opendoor stops growing and maintains its current pace over the following year), the stock currently trades at aprice-to-sales(P/S) ratio of just 1.0. That's a bargain-bin valuation.</p>\n<p>Competitor Zillow Group trades at a P/S ratio of more than 3, reflecting Opendoor's discount as a former SPAC.</p>\n<h3>Here's the bottom line</h3>\n<p>Real estate is a huge market, and it's a complicated industry because of the clash between traditional agents and the \"new kids\" on the block trying to bring technology into homebuying. Opendoor is winning the iBuying battle\nThe traditional home-buying process in the United States is slow and handled by multiple parties, including agents, lawyers, inspectors, and bankers. This creates a lot of back and forth paperwork and drags the process out to more than 30 days, on average.\nOpendoor pioneered the concept of \"iBuying,\" where the buying and selling of a house are digitized, and a company like Opendoor works directly with sellers to provide them with a cash offer and a digital closing process. The company then resells the house on the market. The iBuying process cuts out agents and some of the fees associated with traditional closings, such as agent commissions. Opendoor then resells the house on the market and charges a service fee of up to 5% on the transaction.\nAfter seeing Opendoor steadily grow with its iBuying concept, competitors have also begun to offer iBuying services, including Zillow Group and Offerpad. Because of how capital intensive the business is (a lot of money is needed to buy and sell thousands of houses) and how price competitive the housing market is, these companies are racing to get as big as possible. As the companies buy and sell more homes, they have the ability to become more profitable by leveraging outsourced contractors to save money, and its pricing algorithm improves as it sees more transactions.\nAccording to iBuyerStats, a website dedicated to tracking the competitors found in iBuying, Opendoor has consistently had the most housing inventory available for sale. It currently has roughly 3,300 houses for sale, 53% more than Zillow and more than four times as many as Offerpad.\n2. Revenue growth is ahead of schedule\nWhen companies go public viaSPACmerger, they lay out a public presentation of their business, often including long-term growth projections. Opendoor laid out its pre-merger investor presentation about a year ago, in September 2020.\nFast forward to the company's recent 2021 Q2 earnings call. CEO and founder Eric Wu said on the earnings call, \"... based on our current progress, our second half revenue run rate is on track to exceed our 2023 target, a full two years ahead of plan.\"\nIn other words, if Opendoor were to operate for 12 months at the level the business currently is, it would surpass the $9.8 billion in revenue it projected for 2023. This is an underlooked point because if Opendoor is already two years ahead of its original growth curve, where will it be by 2023? Sure, a dip in the housing market or other events could disrupt the company's speed of growth, but Opendoor is showing the world that the business is operating at a high level.\n3. SPACs are out of favor with the market... opportunity?\nInvestors have overlooked this strong performance, focusing instead on the fact that Opendoor joined the public market via SPAC merger. It has hardly mattered what operating results or earnings have looked like for former SPACs; the stock market has been selling off virtually all SPAC-based stocks for several months now.\nInvestors have been spooked by a handful of \"bad apple\" companies turning up fraudulent, and other companies have wildly missed on the projections they made before going public. These instances have burned those involved, and investors have taken a much more cautious attitude toward SPACs as a whole.\nBut if companies like Opendoor keep blowing away estimates, the market is likely to come around eventually. When it does, the stock price could move aggressively. If we take Eric Wu's comments about revenue and assume that Opendoor does sales of $10 billion in 2022 (in other words, Opendoor stops growing and maintains its current pace over the following year), the stock currently trades at aprice-to-sales(P/S) ratio of just 1.0. That's a bargain-bin valuation.\nCompetitor Zillow Group trades at a P/S ratio of more than 3, reflecting Opendoor's discount as a former SPAC.\nHere's the bottom line\nReal estate is a huge market, and it's a complicated industry because of the clash between traditional agents and the \"new kids\" on the block trying to bring technology into homebuying. It's too early to say that Opendoor will become the \"Amazon\" of home buying, but what seems certain is that the company is poised to be a big player in real estate's future if it keeps performing like Shutterstock.comJuly thus far has been a great month for electric vehicle stocks, and Nio (NYSE:NIO) stock is no exception.Already trending higher at the start of the month, NIO stock has kept climbing, making its way back to double-digit prices for the first time in months.Some of the latest rally for the China-based EV maker has been driven by company-related news. However, much of it is rising bullishness for the EV industry at-large.Strong monthly delivery numbers from several EV makers, plus news perceived to be bullish for EV sales growth in China, has further convinced investors that Nio will come along for the ride. Even so, I’m not convinced.Instead, while conceding that the current sentiment for Nio could hold in the near-term, the most relevant facts still point to disappointment and big losses ahead for this EV stock.NIO Stock: Latest Delivery Numbers Mixed at BestChances are you’ve seen recent headlines touting better-than-expected delivery numbers for major EV makers, and not only Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA).Several high-profile U.S. and Chinese EV contenders have also reported solid results as of late. Nio, though, is not in that category.Sure, NIO stock did move higher after the release of Nio’s latest monthly delivery update, but was it for the right reasons?The market focused only on the positive aspects of the update, and none on the negative aspects. For instance, during June, the company delivered a total of 10,707 vehicles.Compared to Nio’s May delivery results (6,155 vehicles), this appeared to be a sign of massive growth re-acceleration.Yet while sales were up on a sequential (month-over-month) basis, on a year-over-year basis, sales were down by around 17%. In short, far from “crushing it” as its rivals may be right now, for the prior month, Nio’s delivery numbers were mixed at best.Still, I don’t assume investors will quickly come to the same conclusion. However, the view that sequential sales growth, plus strong overall demand growth for EVs, bodes well for the company can only prevail for so long.The Bear Case Keeps StrengtheningPreviously, I have discussed a possible bearish scenario for NIO stock between now and year’s end. There are two ways the company could underwhelm investors. Even if just one happen, it may lead to a big reversal for shares.First, high competition from Tesla and local-based EV companies could hinder sales growth this quarter and next quarter.Second, Nio’s move to slash vehicle prices, which is the result of the intensifying competition, will negatively affect vehicle margins. In turn, resulting in greater-than-expected operating losses.Market confidence in the bull case may be growing right now. However, recently additional factors have emerged pointing to the bear case ultimately playing out. Tesla has once again cut prices for its vehicles in China.A prominent China-based EV maker, BYD Company Limited (OTCMKTS:BYDDF), is gearing up to launch a vehicle that could leave Tesla and Nio’s respective premium midsize crossover offerings in the dust.That’s not all. Along with the fact competitive pressures keep rising, the further threat of a price war has not gone away. As InvestorPlace’s Eddie Pan reported July 11, Chinese antitrust law has squashed an attempt to implement a “price war truce.”Don’t End Up Stuck Holding the BagSince June, a bullish stance has paid off for NIO investors. However, as some of them decide to take profit, don’t be tempted to buy what they are selling. You could end up stuck holding the bag.Monthly deliveries may not rise meaningfully over the next six months. The ongoing price war could do even greater damage to Nio’s margins. If one or both things play out, expect the stock to experience a big reversal.Yes, there have been some developments recently that could change the story in the long run. In a race to disrupt residential real estate, one of the largest markets in the world, Opendoor's long-term potential could bring big returns for patient investors.</p>\n<p>Despite the upside, the market hasn't yet appreciated Opendoor's accomplishments; the stock is down more than 50% from its highs. There are three important clues that Opendoor could be a compelling investment idea for bold investors.</p>\n<h3>1. Opendoor is winning the iBuying battle</h3>\n<p>The traditional home-buying process in the United States is slow and handled by multiple parties, including agents, lawyers, inspectors, and bankers. This creates a lot of back and forth paperwork and drags the process out to more than 30 days, on average.</p>\n<p>Opendoor pioneered the concept of \"iBuying,\" where the buying and selling of a house are digitized, and a company like Opendoor works directly with sellers to provide them with a cash offer and a digital closing process. The company then resells the house on the market. The iBuying process cuts out agents and some of the fees associated with traditional closings, such as agent commissions. Opendoor then resells the house on the market and charges a service fee of up to 5% on the transaction.</p>\n<p>After seeing Opendoor steadily grow with its iBuying concept, competitors have also begun to offer iBuying services, including&nbsp;<b>Zillow Group</b>&nbsp;and Offerpad. Because of how capital intensive the business is (a lot of money is needed to buy and sell thousands of houses) and how price competitive the housing market is, these companies are racing to get as big as possible. As the companies buy and sell more homes, they have the ability to become more profitable by leveraging outsourced contractors to save money, and its pricing algorithm improves as it sees more transactions.</p>\n<p>According to iBuyerStats, a website dedicated to tracking the competitors found in iBuying, Opendoor has consistently had the most housing inventory available for sale. Revenue growth is ahead of schedule</h3>\n<p>When companies go public viaSPACmerger, they lay out a public presentation of their business, often including long-term growth projections. Opendoor laid out its pre-merger investor presentation about a year ago, in September 2020.</p>\n<p>Fast forward to the company's recent 2021 Q2 earnings call. This is an underlooked point because if Opendoor is already two years ahead of its original growth curve, where will it be by 2023? Sure, a dip in the housing market or other events could disrupt the company's speed of growth, but Opendoor is showing the world that the business is operating at a high level.</p>\n<h3>3. SPACs are out of favor with the market... opportunity?</h3>\n<p>Investors have overlooked this strong performance, focusing instead on the fact that Opendoor joined the public market via SPAC merger. It has hardly mattered what operating results or earnings have looked like for former SPACs; the stock market has been selling off virtually all SPAC-based stocks for several months now.</p>\n<p>Investors have been spooked by a handful of \"bad apple\" companies turning up fraudulent, and other companies have wildly missed on the projections they made before going public. At the same time, the company said it will adhere with the COVID protocols put in place.Why It's Important: Nio shares are stuck in a rut after peaking at $66.99 in early January 2021. Faced with production disruptions, the company had to rein in deliveries during the year.That was all expected to change with the dawn of 2022, as the company planned to roll out at least three new models over the course of the year. Nio began deliveries of one of the three models – the ET7 sedan – in late March.The COVID outbreak in China appears to be pouring cold water on the company's recovery plans. Nio reported earlier this month it delivered 25,768 cars in the first quarter, a quarterly record.Incidentally, Tesla's Giga Shanghai is currently under a shutdown.
