and advise","content":"
In a new interview, Elon Musk agreed with some scathing criticism of Telsa Inc. vehicles, and advised against buying Tesla vehicles during a production ramp-up.
\n
The extraordinarily candid interview — even for an extraordinarily candid CEO like Musk — with engineering consultant Sandy Munro aired Tuesday on the “Munro Live” YouTube channel and podcast.
\n
Musk had a blunt answer when asked about quality control issues: “It took us a while to kind of iron out the production process. Friends ask me: ‘When should I buy a Tesla?’ And I’m like: ‘Well, either buy it right at the beginning, or when the production reaches a steady state. During that production ramp, it’s super hard to be in vertical climb mode and get everything right on the little details.”
\n
Paint issues also cropped up in December, Musk said, in the push to produce as many cars as possible before year’s end. “One of the things that was happening when we were ramping production was the paint wasn’t necessarily drying enough,” he said. “So, it’s like, if you go faster… it’s like, you just discover these things. Like, If we knew them in advance, we would fix them in advance.”
\n
“Production is hell,” Musk said.
\n
That could be worrying to future buyers, since TeslaTSLA,-2.07%plans to open new factories in Texas and Germany in the coming months, and start production of the Cybertruck pickup and the Semi big rigby the end of the year.
\n
Duringa harsh 2018 teardown, Munro compared Tesla’s Model 3 sedan with a shoddy, 1990s-era Kia. “I can’t imagine how they released this,” he said at the time. (Munrolater came aroundand liked later versions of the Model 3.)
\n
In the interview, Musk said he agreed with Munro. “I thought your criticism was accurate,” Musk said.
\n
Musk also admitted the seats in early versions of the Model S were terrible, “probably had the worst seat of any car I ever sat in,” Musk said, noting he used to call the seat a “stone toadstool.” That spurred a much more comfortable seat design in the Model 3, which Munro complimented.
\n
Munro isn’t the only one to criticize Tesla’s quality. Consumer Reports last year ranked Tesla second from the bottom on a reliability survey. “Only the Model 3 sedan is reliable,”Consumer Reports said in November, knocking the Model S, Model X SUV and Model Y compact SUV as subpar.
\n
That hasn’t hurt Tesla much though. The company delivered nearly 500,000 vehicles last year, and analysts expect that number to growto 800,000 this year. Tesla shares have skyrocketed more than 480% in the past 12 months.
","source":"lsy1603348471595","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Don’t buy a Tesla during a production ramp, Elon Musk warns
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nDon’t buy a Tesla during a production ramp, Elon Musk warns\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-02-04 10:47 GMT+8 marketwatch\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
In a new interview, Elon Musk agreed with some scathing criticism of Telsa Inc. vehicles, and advised against buying Tesla vehicles during a production ramp-up.\nThe extraordinarily candid interview — ...
\n\nSource Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/164dc5093528f308c456aef1ad173b1e","relate_stocks":{"TSLA":"特斯拉"},"source_url":"https://www.marketwatch.com/story/dont-buy-a-tesla-during-a-production-ramp-elon-musk-warns-11612406222?mod=home-page","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1150284862","content_text":"In a new interview, Elon Musk agreed with some scathing criticism of Telsa Inc. vehicles, and advised against buying Tesla vehicles during a production ramp-up.\nThe extraordinarily candid interview — even for an extraordinarily candid CEO like Musk — with engineering consultant Sandy Munro aired Tuesday on the “Munro Live” YouTube channel and podcast.\nMusk had a blunt answer when asked about quality control issues: “It took us a while to kind of iron out the production process. Redfin

Biden's housing plan calls for a new tax credit of up to $15,000 for first-time homebuyers. By helping to offset the costs of buying a home, Biden's plan could ignite a housing boom, particularly as the economy recovers once the pandemic subsides.

Redfin(NASDAQ: $(RDFN)$)is an excellent way for investors to profit from a surge in new home sales. The tech-powered real estate services company is rapidly increasing its share of the $80 billion U.S. brokerage market, thanks to the large savings it often provides to home sellers.

By paying its agents a salary, rather than commissions, Redfin can sell homes for fees as low as 1%. Compared to the typical agent commission of 2.5%-3%, Redfin can save home sellers as much as $5,000 on a $250,000 home.

Together with its fast-growing mortgage, title, andiBuyingbusinesses, Redfin's rapidly expanding brokerage operations give investors many ways to win.

2. Brookfield Renewable

Biden believes climate change is the \"No. 1 issue facing humanity.\" He wants the U.S. to generate more energy fromrenewablesources to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. And he's willing to invest $2trillionin clean energy projects to reach that goal.

Biden's climate plan would be a boon forBrookfield Renewable(NYSE: BEP)(NYSE: $(BEPC)$). Brookfield owns a wide array of renewable energy investments, including hydroelectric, wind, and solar projects.

Brookfield passes the profits it generates from these projects on to its investors via a rising cashdividend. And with Biden's plan likely to create more investment opportunities in green energy projects, Brookfield Renewable is set to reward its investors with even larger cash returns in the years ahead.

3. Tesla

In addition to clean energy, Biden wants the U.S. to be the global leader in electric vehicles (EVs). His auto industry plan calls for the government to incentivize the purchase of EVs for federal, state, and local fleets. RedfinBiden's housing plan calls for a new tax credit of up to $15,000 for first-time homebuyers. By helping to offset the costs of buying a home, Biden's plan could ignite a housing boom, particularly as the economy recovers once the pandemic subsides.Redfin(NASDAQ: $(RDFN)$)is an excellent way for investors to profit from a surge in new home sales. The tech-powered real estate services company is rapidly increasing its share of the $80 billion U.S. brokerage market, thanks to the large savings it often provides to home sellers.By paying its agents a salary, rather than commissions, Redfin can sell homes for fees as low as 1%. Compared to the typical agent commission of 2.5%-3%, Redfin can save home sellers as much as $5,000 on a $250,000 home.Together with its fast-growing mortgage, title, andiBuyingbusinesses, Redfin's rapidly expanding brokerage operations give investors many ways to win.2. Brookfield RenewableBiden believes climate change is the \"No. 1 issue facing humanity.\" He wants the U.S. to generate more energy fromrenewablesources to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. And he's willing to invest $2trillionin clean energy projects to reach that goal.Biden's climate plan would be a boon forBrookfield Renewable(NYSE: BEP)(NYSE: $(BEPC)$). Brookfield owns a wide array of renewable energy investments, including hydroelectric, wind, and solar projects.Brookfield passes the profits it generates from these projects on to its investors via a rising cashdividend. And with Biden's plan likely to create more investment opportunities in green energy projects, Brookfield Renewable is set to reward its investors with even larger cash returns in the years ahead.3. TeslaIn addition to clean energy, Biden wants the U.S. to be the global leader in electric vehicles (EVs). His auto industry plan calls for the government to incentivize the purchase of EVs for federal, state, and local fleets. Biden also wants to install 500,000 charging stations across the country.Biden's plan is likely to accelerateTesla's(NASDAQ: $(TSLA)$)growth. The EV leader's sales are already growing rapidly, and Biden's intentions to boost American demand for clean vehicles could turbocharge Tesla's profit generation over the next decade.Due in part to the Biden administration's support, Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives predicts that EVs could account for 10% of global auto sales by 2025, up from 3% today. In turn, he believes Tesla could deliver 5 million EVs annually by 2030, up from just under 500,000 in 2020.If Ives is correct, Tesla's vehicle sales could rise tenfold over the coming decade, while way.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1990,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":315287801,"gmtCreate":1612257263603,"gmtModify":1704868772974,"author":{"id":"3568594083285468","authorId":"3568594083285468","name":"wenhaooo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f3a4fa4ed029d8d89de352606eb5e98d","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3568594083285468","idStr":"3568594083285468"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hi//<a market is largely out of reach for day traders, unless through a proxy, so it would seem safe from the dynamics that have launched volatility in equities like GameStop Corp.

But it's not, exactly.

The stunning ascent this month of GameStop $(GME)$, AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. $(AMC)$ and other heavily shorted stocks targeted by day traders huddled in online forums in a battle against Wall Street short sellers has been met by lofty moves for the company's corporate bonds too.

While individual investors using Reddit's WallStreetBets or other online forums still have little direct influence on the broader debt markets, speculative stock-buying can cause real ripple effects.

\"There is very little individual investor presence in the corporate bond market,\" said John McClain, portfolio manager at Diamond Hill Capital Management, but he also pointed to the \"GameStop side effect,\" namely, that skyrocketing stock prices can trigger a company to issue shares and use that money to strengthen a balance sheet, boost its liquidity position or to pay down existing debt.

\"If the equity of GameStop goes parabolic,\" McClain said, it can significantly boost the company's market capitalization, and \"in theory, the debt is somewhat better protected.\"

The problem, McClain argued, is that the co-mingling of pandemic stimulus from policy makers and the rise of commission-free stock apps that allow anybody to trade equities with a swipe can lead to real risks for individual investors, while creating headaches for debt-market participants.

\"The casino is open and everybody is invited in,\" McClain said. \"It's free booze and basically free chips.\"

This chart shows AMC's bonds not only rallied in January, but were the most actively traded debt from a list of Russell 3000 Index stocks included in MarketWatch's short squeeze list for 2021:

AMC bonds, while still under pressures due to the pandemic, have garnered $2 billion worth of trades since the beginning of January, according to debt tracking platform BondCliq.

At last check, its popular 12% bonds due in June 2026 were fetching prices of $73.50, up from $23.99 on Jan. 6, according to BondCliq.

Some cold water was splashed on surging GameStop and AMC shares on Thursday, after several brokerages limited buying and lawmakers called for new restrictions.

But they bounced back in extended trading after online trading platform Robinhood said it would \"allow limited buys\" of GameStop and other volatile stocks beginning Friday.

Read: GameStop, AMC stocks bounce back after Robinhood says it will allow some buying Friday

At Thursday's close, AMC's stock still was still up 300% year to date, according to FactSet data.

For its part, AMC has already raised $600 million as some its outstanding 2.95% notes were converted to 44.4 million shares at a conversion price of $13.51 a share, holdings which slid 30% in a matter of hours as brokerage restrictions limited trade.

See: Investors overall impact in the broader bond market from recent ructions in equity trading, pointing to 10-year Treasury yields holding around 1.06%.

\"Could they use the equity market as a source of capital?\" Flahive asked. \"Theoretically, they could do that. Traders took profit after Monday’s 11% surge, which was Tencent’s biggest in almost a decade. Adding caution were comments by an advisor to China’s central bank to local media indicating that excessive liquidity and ultra-low borrowing costs were creating bubbles in the stock market.

Read more: China Asset-Bubble Warning Threatens Stock Frenzy in Hong Kong

The prospect that China will tighten funding conditions threatens to derail Tencent’s stock rally, which has been underpinned by a relentless flow of capital from the mainland. Onshore funds purchased a record amount of Hong Kong shares this month, with about a quarter of that targeting Tencent. As more than a billion people use its WeChat social-media platform, Tencent is ubiquitous to Chinese investors who have no access Hong Kong shares of rival Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. through the stock links.

Tencent was the most recent mega-cap company to benefit from investor enthusiasm for the tech sector, with its looming milestone a marker for the euphoria sweeping the stocks globally. Before Tuesday, the stock had added $251 billion in January alone -- by far the biggest creation of shareholder wealth worldwide. Warnings are rising that easy monetary policy is fueling bubbles in global equities, especially in the U.S., where gains have been led by the Nasdaq.

As investors seek cheaper alternatives, they’ve been piling into Hong Kong equities. That’s helped make the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index the best performing among the world’s major benchmarks in the past month.

While Tencent has long been an investor favorite in Asia, returning more than 100,000% since its 2004 initial public offering, there are other risks to the rally.

In 2018, a government crackdown on China’s online gaming industry squeezed Tencent’s most profitable business, which at the time accounted for about 40% of its revenue. Coupled with a slowing Chinese economy and a weakening yuan, Beijing’s nine-month halt on approvals for new games contributed to a 22% slump in the shares.

A campaign against monopolistic practices since late last year has targeted many of the industries in which Tencent and rival Alibaba operate, including the online payments industry. But while increasing regulatory risk has left Alibaba’s shares about 16% lower than their October peak, Tencent has closed at seven fresh records in the past eight sessions. One factor contributing to the divergence: Alibaba’s Hong Kong stock is not included in trading links with mainland exchanges.

Tencent would be the second Chinese firm to join the trillion-dollar club after PetroChina Co., which was briefly worth more than that in late 2007 before collapsing in value. U.S. tech giants Apple Inc., Amazon.com Inc., Alphabet Inc. and Microsoft Corp. are also worth more than $1 trillion each, as is Saudi Arabian Oil Co.

Tencent was founded in 1998 by four college classmates and a friend from Shenzhen who devised a Chinese version of the instant messaging service ICQ. Led by “Pony” Ma Huateng -- ma is Chinese for “horse” -- the company’s chat software became the primary communication tool for a generation of young Chinese.

Still, Tencent’s surge has outpaced all but the most bullish analysts’ forecasts. The stock’s closing level of HK$766.50 on Monday was almost 10% higher than the consensus 12-month price target compiled by Bloomberg, the widest gap since 2014.
","source":"lsy1584348713084","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Tencent Tumbles After Stock Approached $1 Trillion Valuation
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nTencent Tumbles After Stock Approached $1 Trillion Valuation\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-01-26 11:31 GMT+8 Yahoo\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
(Bloomberg) -- Tencent Holdings Ltd. slumped after a world-beating surge in the stock pushed its market value to the cusp of $1 trillion for the first time. The Chinese Internet behemoth lost as much ...
\n\nSource Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{},"source_url":"https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tencent-nears-1-trillion-latest-200000826.html","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1151296738","content_text":"(Bloomberg) -- Tencent Holdings Ltd. slumped after a world-beating surge in the stock pushed its market value to the cusp of $1 trillion for the first time. The Chinese Internet behemoth lost as much as 5.5% in Hong Kong on Tuesday, putting its market capitalization below $900 billion. Coupled with a slowing Chinese economy and a weakening yuan, Beijing’s nine-month halt on approvals for new games contributed to a 22% slump in the shares.A campaign against monopolistic practices since late last year has targeted many of the industries in which Tencent and rival Alibaba operate, including the online payments industry. But while increasing regulatory risk has left Alibaba’s shares about 16% lower than their October peak, Tencent has closed at seven fresh records in the past eight sessions. One factor contributing to the divergence: Alibaba’s Hong Kong stock is not included in trading links with mainland exchanges.Tencent would be the second Chinese firm to join the trillion-dollar club after PetroChina Co., which was briefly worth more than that in late 2007 before collapsing in value. U.S. tech giants Apple Inc., Amazon.com Inc., Alphabet Inc. and Microsoft Corp. are also worth more than $1 trillion each, as is Saudi Arabian Oil Co.Tencent was founded in 1998 by four college classmates and a friend from Shenzhen who devised a Chinese version of the instant messaging service ICQ. Led by “Pony” Ma Huateng -- ma is Chinese for “horse” -- the company’s chat software became the primary communication tool for a generation of young Chinese.Still, Tencent’s surge has outpaced all but the most bullish analysts’ forecasts. The stock’s closing level of HK$766.50 on Monday was almost 10% higher than the consensus 12-month price target compiled by Bloomberg, the widest gap since 2014.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2617,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":312899348,"gmtCreate":1612083069584,"gmtModify":1704867182073,"author":{"id":"3568594083285468","authorId":"3568594083285468","name":"wenhaooo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f3a4fa4ed029d8d89de352606eb5e98d","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3568594083285468","idStr":"3568594083285468"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"We getting richhh","listText":"We getting richhh","text":"We getting richhh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/312899348","repostId":"1181933127","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2254,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":315694735,"gmtCreate":1612239514327,"gmtModify":1704868597711,"author":{"id":"3568594083285468","authorId":"3568594083285468","name":"wenhaooo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f3a4fa4ed029d8d89de352606eb5e98d","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3568594083285468","idStr":"3568594083285468"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hahahaa","listText":"Hahahaa","text":"Hahahaa","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/315694735","repostId":"1109554256","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1970,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":312012278,"gmtCreate":1611972524194,"gmtModify":1704866719600,"author":{"id":"3568594083285468","authorId":"3568594083285468","name":"wenhaooo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f3a4fa4ed029d8d89de352606eb5e98d","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3568594083285468","idStr":"3568594083285468"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Niceee","listText":"Niceee","text":"Niceee","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/312012278","repostId":"2107218222","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2306,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":319089361,"gmtCreate":1611412548853,"gmtModify":1704860243472,"author":{"id":"3568594083285468","authorId":"3568594083285468","name":"wenhaooo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f3a4fa4ed029d8d89de352606eb5e98d","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3568594083285468","idStr":"3568594083285468"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$BlackBerry(BB)$ . market is largely out of reach for day traders, unless through a proxy, so it would seem safe from the dynamics that have launched volatility in equities like GameStop Corp.

See: Investors that converted AMC bonds to stock see value of holdings slide 30% in a matter of hours

Even so, John Flahive, head of fixed income investments at BNY Mellon Wealth, said he still sees a limited overall impact in the broader bond market from recent ructions in equity trading, pointing to 10-year Treasury yields holding around 1.06%.

\"Could they use the equity market as a source of capital?\" Flahive asked. \"Theoretically, they could do that. But given the volatility in the marketplace it would be viewed as unlikely.\"
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
The GameStop and AMC drama doesn't stop with the stock market
\n\na,abbr,acronym,address,applet,article,aside,audio,b,big,blockquote,body,canvas,caption,center,cite,code,dd,del,details,dfn,div,dl,dt,\nem,embed,fieldset,figcaption,figure,footer,form,h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6,header,hgroup,html,i,iframe,img,ins,kbd,label,legend,li,mark,menu,nav,\nobject,ol,output,p,pre,q,ruby,s,samp,section,small,span,strike,strong,sub,summary,sup,table,tbody,td,tfoot,th,thead,time,tr,tt,u,ul,var,video{ font:inherit;margin:0;padding:0;vertical-align:baseline;border:0 }\nbody{ font-size:16px; Friends ask me: ‘When should I buy a Tesla?’ And I’m like: ‘Well, either buy it right at the beginning, or when the production reaches a steady state.
Friends ask me: ‘When should I buy a Tesla?’ And I’m like: ‘Well, either buy it right at the beginning, or when the production reaches a steady state. During that production ramp, it’s super hard to be in vertical climb mode and get everything right on the little details.”\nPaint issues also cropped up in December, Musk said, in the push to produce as many cars as possible before year’s end. “One of the things that was happening when we were ramping production was the paint wasn’t necessarily drying enough,” he said. “So, it’s like, if you go faster… it’s like, you just discover these things. Like, If we knew them in advance, we would fix them in advance.”\n“Production is hell,” Musk said.\nThat could be worrying to future buyers, since TeslaTSLA,-2.07%plans to open new factories in Texas and Germany in the coming months, and start production of the Cybertruck pickup and the Semi big rigby the end of the year.\nDuringa harsh 2018 teardown, Munro compared Tesla’s Model 3 sedan with a shoddy, 1990s-era Kia. “I can’t imagine how they released this,” he said at the time. (Munrolater came aroundand liked later versions of the Model 3.)\nIn the interview, Musk said he agreed with Munro. “I thought your criticism was accurate,” Musk said.\nMusk also admitted the seats in early versions of the Model S were terrible, “probably had the worst seat of any car I ever sat in,” Musk said, noting he used to call the seat a “stone toadstool.” That spurred a much more comfortable seat design in the Model 3, which Munro complimented.\nMunro isn’t the only one to criticize Tesla’s quality. Consumer Reports last year ranked Tesla second from the bottom on a reliability survey. “Only the Model 3 sedan is reliable,”Consumer Reports said in November, knocking the Model S, Model X SUV and Model Y compact SUV as subpar.\nThat hasn’t hurt Tesla much though.
