Since the event was announced a few months ago, everyone has been waiting to hear about the company's next generation vehicle platform, as well as other items that will be key for shareholders going forward. Unfortunately, the event turned out to be more hype than anything else, and thus for TSLA stock, it was another \"buy the rumor, sell the news\" event.Perhaps the biggest piece of news was that Tesla is indeed going to build another gigafactory, this time in Mexico. There have been rumors of this location for several weeks now, as local politicians have talked about it coming and various meetings with Tesla CEO Elon Musk have been reported. There was no timeline provided for this project, but this factory will be used for the next generation vehicle platform. It will be built just outside Monterrey in Nuevo León, with Tesla's official rendering seen below.Tesla Gigafactory Mexico(Investor Day Presentation)As was expected, Tesla's future plan is about the transitioning the world to sustainable energy. This came with a large math lesson, which can be seen here if you need to know the exact details. However, the keys involve powering the grid with renewable energy sources, increasing the number of electric vehicles in use, and reducing the extraction of minerals. On the EV side, Tesla believes its next generation vehicle can be produced for 50% less, which then will allow it to become more affordable. Part of the reduction in cost is making the production process much simpler. That reduces the time it will take to build the vehicle, which then can allow for higher production over time.Investors and consumers had high hopes that Tesla would unveil its $25,000 vehicle at this week's event. This is a vehicle that Musk has teased for several years now, but it was not shown off here. Management said that this next generation platform will get a proper reveal in the future, but again, there was no timeline provided for when that will be. This more affordable vehicle is expected to be a key part of Tesla's battle in China against many local brands, so for now the company will be limited to the Model 3 and Y there. In an article I had published recently, I discussed how previous statements around full self-driving (\"FSD\") capabilities and robo-taxis could lead to significant liabilities for Tesla down the road. There were hopes that more concrete information would be delivered Wednesday about the robo-taxi platform and service, but we didn't get a lot of details outside of how FSD and Autopilot have improved over the years. There also wasn't a major discussion about FSD Hardware version 4 or whether or not it is in cars yet, so perhaps an official announcement about that will come in the coming weeks or months.Tesla did use the event to show off its latest Cybertruck prototype and focused on some of its key features. Management reiterated that production will start this year, which will be about three years late. However, there was some disappointment that no official timeline was given, and Tesla didn't update on the price of the vehicle. Mass production won't occur until 2024 at the earliest, so investors shouldn't be banking on a major contribution to overall results in the next couple of quarters. One of the biggest disappointments for shareholders in the near term was the financial discussion. Tesla CFO Zach Kirkhorn discussed how the company's working capital needs to bounce around throughout the quarter, and what the cost of this sustainable energy future will cost. As a result, there was no official announcement of a share repurchase plan that would at least offset some of the dilution investors are facing over time. This has been a key part of the bull case in recent months, with some major Tesla fans and investors pushing the company to put its large cash pile to use. For now, however, the plan is to build the business, and then return capital afterwards.I have listened to many of Tesla's presentations and quarterly earnings calls, and this one was perhaps the most painful. The main presentation featured at least 10 key parts and was over two and a half hours long, and I counted at least 17 different executives that spoke. There was a lot of discussion about things that have already happened in Tesla, much of which I don't think needed to be regurgitated. For example, we didn't need to hear for a few minutes how a Tesla produces less emissions than a Toyota Corolla. The average investor doesn't need to know every single detail about how Tesla reacted to some event from several years ago or every last technical specification about certain vehicle components.I mentioned that this event was another example of buy the rumor, sell the news. Tesla shares had more than doubled from their early 2023 lows, partially on the hopes for this week's event. Unfortunately, the lack of critical details on many fronts left investors with a sour taste. As the chart below shows, selling in the after-hours session started almost immediately once the event started, ended with a loss of 5.66% or nearly $11.50 a share.Tesla March 1st Trading (CNBC)In the end, Tesla's Investor Day was more fluff than anything else. The company is certainly making progress on some of its goals, but investors wanted to hear more specific details about upcoming products, a potential buyback, etc. The presentation was just too long and wordy for the average investor, which may have fueled some of the selling in the after-hours session. Given the lack of key details, it wouldn't surprise me if there's more selling in the near term until Tesla opens things up a bit.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3008,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9957705290,"gmtCreate":1677540146811,"gmtModify":1677540150543,"author":{"id":"3570593382729221","authorId":"3570593382729221","name":"Benzz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/05492ca80eadb47ced7a52ab97d09507","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3570593382729221","idStr":"3570593382729221"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":13,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9957705290","repostId":"2314592524","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2423,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9957420261,"gmtCreate":1677502686854,"gmtModify":1677502690530,"author":{"id":"3570593382729221","authorId":"3570593382729221","name":"Benzz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/05492ca80eadb47ced7a52ab97d09507","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3570593382729221","idStr":"3570593382729221"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9957420261","repostId":"9957464092","repostType":1,"repost":{"id":9957464092,"gmtCreate":1677501418116,"gmtModify":1677501627589,"author":{"id":"3527667628464496","authorId":"3527667628464496","name":"Tiger_Newspress","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3527667628464496","idStr":"3527667628464496"},"themes":[],"title":"Pre-Bell|Dow Futures Jump Over 150 Points; The Ark Invest CEO has seen all of her firm's eight funds outperform the market year to date. It's too soon to know whether this outperformance will persist for the rest of 2023, but some companies that are among her favorite holdings have excellent long-term prospects, regardless of what happens to their shares this year. Among them are Block and Roku, two stocks that are worth holding onto for the next decade.1. BlockShares of fintech specialist Block are already up 35% year to date, but that's not even close to the best reason to consider investing in the company, at least not for those with a long-term mindset. Instead, investors should look at Block's lucrative Square and Cash App platforms.Block helps small- and medium-sized businesses run their operations through its Square ecosystem with payment processing solutions and a suite of other services such as payroll services, inventory management, and the ability to integrate brick-and-mortar and e-commerce transactions. The great thing about Block's offerings is that they're interconnected. Once a company is plugged into Square, it becomes difficult to leave without risking business disruptions. High switching costs give Square a competitive edge.On the other side of the coin, the company's peer-to-peer (P2P) payment app, Cash App, competes with traditional banks in many ways. It offers stock and crypto trading, a debit card, \"buy now, pay later\" options, and more. Both of these segments performed well last year. In the third quarter, Block recorded net revenue of $4.52 billion, up 17% year over year. Its gross profit jumped 38% to $1.57 billion, with gross profits for Square and Cash App rising 29% and 51%, respectively. Block remains unprofitable, and it booked a $15 million net loss in the third quarter. The company has also seen decreasing revenue related to its Bitcoin services. But both of the company's main ecosystems have plenty of opportunities ahead of them. Management foresees a $120 billion (and growing) annual gross profit opportunity. That's substantially more than it records now. And the company has historically attracted more customers by adding services that render its ecosystems even more valuable.Investors can expect more of that in the future. Block's stock price moves may or may not maintain their recent torrid pace for the rest of the year, but the company looks to be in an excellent position to ride the fintech revolution over the next 10 years and beyond while rewarding shareholders in the process.2. RokuRoku gathers many of the giant content providers of the video streaming world into one place, making it an ideal platform for consumers as more and more of people's viewing time is spent with streaming services. In early January, the company reported that it had surpassed 70 million active accounts, up from 60.1 million at the end of 2021. This massive ecosystem is a prime target for advertisers, especially as streaming hours continue to grow -- which they have been doing for years. The more that people choose to watch shows and movies on their preferred streaming services -- and which ones those are makes little difference to Roku -- the more businesses will seek out this platform to target potential customers with ads. In addition to growing viewing hours, it's worth noting that 70 million active accounts is a relatively small number given the size of the worldwide market.Roku claims it is the leading television streaming platform in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico based on hours streamed. These three countries alone have a combined population of almost 500 million. Roku's penetration in most other markets is certainly much lower than it is in those nations. It's true Roku's stock was hammered last year due to a general slowdown in the advertising business. Also, inflation and supply chain issues increased the manufacturing costs of its streaming devices, but the company chose to absorb the higher expenses rather than pass them on to consumers. The inevitable economic cycles will sometimes swing in the wrong direction, but they usually bounce back. And importantly, nothing happened in 2022 that fundamentally changed Roku's prospects. Advertising spending will increase eventually as the economy recovers. Meanwhile, Roku will keep growing its ecosystem with more active accounts and greater engagement. So long as the migration from old linear television continues -- a trend that should remain healthy for many years -- Roku will still have room to grow.Being at the top of an expanding market will allow the company to deliver solid returns over the course of the next decade and more","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"ARKIU":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":776,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9955265809,"gmtCreate":1675467510801,"gmtModify":1676539004459,"author":{"id":"3570593382729221","authorId":"3570593382729221","name":"Benzz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/05492ca80eadb47ced7a52ab97d09507","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3570593382729221","idStr":"3570593382729221"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":19,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9955265809","repostId":"1139466231","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":864,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9955913239,"gmtCreate":1675128739322,"gmtModify":1676538977933,"author":{"id":"3570593382729221","authorId":"3570593382729221","name":"Benzz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/05492ca80eadb47ced7a52ab97d09507","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3570593382729221","idStr":"3570593382729221"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":11,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9955913239","repostId":"1147905501","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":960,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9952467723,"gmtCreate":1674897601662,"gmtModify":1676538965436,"author":{"id":"3570593382729221","authorId":"3570593382729221","name":"Benzz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/05492ca80eadb47ced7a52ab97d09507","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3570593382729221","idStr":"3570593382729221"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":11,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9952467723","repostId":"2306400111","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":646,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9952595634,"gmtCreate":1674796830328,"gmtModify":1676538959414,"author":{"id":"3570593382729221","authorId":"3570593382729221","name":"Benzz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/05492ca80eadb47ced7a52ab97d09507","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3570593382729221","idStr":"3570593382729221"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9952595634","repostId":"1163545742","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1163545742","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1674791852,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1163545742?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-01-27 11:57","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Intel: A True Disaster","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1163545742","media":"Seeking Alpha","summary":"SummaryIntel Corporation Q4 results come in below street estimates.Q1 guidance tremendously worse th","content":"
\n
SummaryIntel Corporation Q4 results come in below street estimates.Q1 guidance tremendously worse than expected.Intel Corporation shares likely to continue their underperformance.JasonDoiyBack in ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"seekingalpha_fund","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The company's CFO had issued comments then that suggested street estimates may be too high movingforward, which I thought could lead to a guidance miss at this week's report. Well, Intel reported its Q4 results after the bell on Thursday, and as bad as they were, things are looking much worse in the current period. For Q4, Intel came in with revenues of $14 billion. This figure matched the low end of management's guidance, and was down 28% over the prior year period when excluding the divested NAND business. The street was looking for about $14.5 billion in total sales, the midpoint of guidance, so this end result was an obvious disappointment. The weakness was led by the Client Computing group, which saw revenues down 36% year-over-year, and the DataCenter segment that was down 33%.The revenue shortfall led to further pain down the income statement. Gross margins came in at just 43.8% on a non-GAAP basis, more than a full percentage point below guidance. The situation will get even worse moving forward, which I'll get to, but inventories have certainly surged now. Intel finished 2022 with inventory up $2.5 billion over the end of 2021, despite full year adjusted revenues being down more than $11.5 billion. These numbers finished off a terrible year for Intel as the graphic below details.Intel 2022 Overview (Company Q4 Report)The pinch on revenues and margins hurt the rest of the income statement, where management couldn't deliver enough cost savings. Intel finished last year with an increase of more than 10,000 employees, despite the huge decline in revenues. As a result, the two main operating expenses were actually up $140 million on a non-GAAP basis over Q4 2021. The company's tax rate also surged unexpectedly, leading to just a dime of non-GAAP earnings per share. That was half of what the street was looking for, with the company actually losing more than $660 million on a GAAP basis. With all of these results falling short, Intel's adjusted free cash flow was a negative $4.075 billion for the full year in 2022. This was a negative swing of $7 billion from 2021, and was slightly worse than the bottom end of guidance. While the company isn't in any financial difficulty currently, cash burn is not a welcome sight when you are paying $6 billion in annual dividends a year. For now, that will mean more debt added to the balance sheet, especially as Intel goes through a major capital expenditure cycle.Unfortunately, as bad as Q4 results were, guidance was many times worse. I had mentioned in my previous article that Intel's CFO had talked about normal seasonality in Q1, which usually meant a 5% to 7% decline in revenues from Q4 levels. Going into the report, the street was looking for a little more than a 3% sequential decline to $14.02 billion. However, management is calling for a midpoint of just $11 billion, plus or minus half a billion, which is roughly a $3 billion shortfall against the street. Last year's Q1 saw $18.4 billion, so this is a dramatic plunge for a company of this size. With revenues coming in low, gross margins aren't expected to fare any better. Non-GAAP margins are forecast to be 39% in Q1 2023, down from 53.1% in the prior year period and 58.8% two years earlier. With the company's chip performance falling behind peers, not only have revenues disappeared, but the company has lost a bit of pricing power. For the bottom line, management is calling for a non-GAAP loss per share of $0.15 in the period, whereas analysts were looking for a 25 cent profit. On a GAAP basis, Intel expects a loss of $0.80 per share. This outlook, especially on the bottom line, looks much worse when you consider the following benefit the company is receiving from a major accounting change it is making.Effective January 2023, Intel increased the estimated useful life of certain production machinery and equipment from five years to eight years. When compared to the estimated useful life in place as of the end of 2022, Intel expects total depreciation expense in 2023 to reduce by roughly $4.2 billion, including an approximate $2.6 billion increase to gross profit, a $400 million decrease in R&D expenses and a $1.2 billion decrease in 2023 ending inventory values. Intel’s Q1 2023 outlook includes an estimated $350 million to $500 million benefit to operating margin or $0.07 to $0.10 benefit to EPS from this change, split approximately 75% to cost of sales and 25% to operating expenses. The change in depreciable life will not be counted toward the $3 billion in cost savings in 2023 or the $8 billion to $10 billion exiting 2025 communicated at Q3 2022 earnings. In my previous article, I mentioned how Intel shares could drop to the mid $20s range, which was based on current estimates at that time. Shares did drop to that level before rebounding, but they are now down more than 8% in Thursday's after-hours session, trading below $28 again. Going into this earnings report, analysts thought the name was worth more than $31 a share, but I believe we'll see a lot of price target cuts on these results.Given how bad this guidance was, I now think the mid to low $20s is a range that investors should target if they want to buy Intel Corporation, but I'm not going to put a concrete target on the stock until we see more results in the space so I can value Intel compared to its competitors for this year and 2024. However, it would not surprise me if shares re-test their 52-week lows, unless we get a dramatic market rally next week on a potential Federal Reserve pivot. In the end, Thursday's Q4 earnings report for Intel was a true disaster. The company reported a revenue result at the bottom end of its guidance range, which itself was a major disappointment when originally issued. Margins continued to be weak and thus the adjusted bottom line fell well short of estimates. Worse yet, Intel Corporation Q1 revenues are forecast to be much worse than even the most bearish analysts were looking for, and the company is expected to swing to a Q1 loss, even on a non-GAAP basis. With the turnaround here not looking good at the moment, it's hard to recommend buying Intel Corporation shares unless the price comes down quite a bit more in the coming days. This article is written by Bill Maurer for reference only. While he is still confident in the company's ability to monetize unique intellectual property, Morris is taking \"a modestly more conservative view\" of a sustained growth trajectory in streaming revenue and recorded music margin expansion.Deutsche Bank analyst George Brown downgraded Logitech(LOGI) to Hold from Buy with a price target of CHF 54, down from CHF 68. The current downturn in the PC market is more severe than anticipated and the stock's risk/reward is more balanced given the extended replacement cycles, Brown tells investors in a research note.Guggenheim analyst Ronald Jewsikow downgraded Tesla(TSLA) to Sell from Neutral. Jewsikow forecasts a \"sizable\" gross margin miss in Q4 to be driven mainly by price reductions and incentive actions taken during the quarter.Top 5 Initiations:Deutsche Bank analyst Benjamin Goy reinstated coverage of Credit Suisse(CS) with a Hold rating and CHF 3.40 price target. The bank is taking the right steps but lowering costs, regaining operational momentum, and reducing the complexity of funding costs will take time, Goy tells investors in a research note.Jefferies analyst Vedvati Shrote initiated coverage of Teradyne(TER) with a Buy rating and $115 price target as the analyst launched coverage on a pair of Back-End Test Equipment stocks. The industry has transformed into a high-single- to low-double-digit growth segment after \"a decade uninspiring growth,\" said Shrote, who calls out view Teradyne as a test equipment beneficiary as the market leader with 50% share.Truist analyst Keith Hughes initiated coverage of Summit Materials(SUM) with a Buy rating and $40 price target. The analyst believes that the strong pricing in aggregates and cement will continue and offset cost, leading to EBITDA growth this year.UBS analyst Rayna Kumar initiated coverage of Pagaya(PGY) with a Neutral rating and $1.25 price target. While Kumar estimates that from 2022E-2025E, Pagaya's AI-powered network could fuel a 26% network volume and 23% top-line CAGR, the analyst expects mounting macro headwinds from rising interest rates and consumer credit deterioration to continue to pressure Pagaya's loan approval rate in 2023, making it unlikely the company will achieve its 3-5 year medium-term network volume ambition of $25B, Kumar tells investors in a research note.Capital One analyst Connor Murphy initiated coverage of Workday(WDAY) with an Overweight rating and $200 price target.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"CS":0.9,"LMT":0.9,"TSLA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":428,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9955265809,"gmtCreate":1675467510801,"gmtModify":1676539004459,"author":{"id":"3570593382729221","authorId":"3570593382729221","name":"Benzz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/05492ca80eadb47ced7a52ab97d09507","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3570593382729221","idStr":"3570593382729221"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":19,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9955265809","repostId":"1139466231","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":864,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9923845302,"gmtCreate":1670835997006,"gmtModify":1676538442962,"author":{"id":"3570593382729221","authorId":"3570593382729221","name":"Benzz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/05492ca80eadb47ced7a52ab97d09507","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3570593382729221","idStr":"3570593382729221"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":18,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9923845302","repostId":"1192326933","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1192326933","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1672011741,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1192326933?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-12-26 07:42","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Reminder: U.S. Market Will be Closed for Christmas Day on Monday, 26 December 2022","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1192326933","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"U.S. ChristmasDay hasarrived. Many of the biggest public companies, especially the technology giants, trade in the hundreds, all the way up to over $1,000 per share or more. At those steep prices, it is difficult to get any decent share count leverage. Many investors, especially more aggressive traders, look at lower-priced stocks as a way not only to make some good money but to get a higher share count. That can really help the decision-making process, especially when you are on to a winner, as you can always sell half and keep half.Skeptics of low-priced shares should remember that at one point Amazon, Apple and Netflix traded in the single digits. One stock we featured over the years, Zynga, was purchased by Take-Two Interactive. Cogent Biosciences, which we featured last March, has tripled since then.We screened our 24/7 Wall St. research database looking for smaller cap companies that could offer patient investors some huge returns for 2023 and beyond. While these five stocks are rated Buy and have a ton of Wall Street coverage, it is important to remember that no single analyst report should be used as a sole basis for any buying or selling decision.PalantirStarted by Silicon Valley legend Peter Thiel, this company may offer the largest upside potential of all the stocks in this group, and it is also a takeover candidate. The outflows total roughly $93 million over that stretch. Much of it is thanks to money being yanked away from Bitcoin products, according to the digital-asset manager.
\n
The cooling appetite stands in contrast to the growing pile of cryptocurrency ETF filings, with at least 18 applications landing with the SEC this year. That tally grew by three in the past two weeks after Gensler signaled that regulators may be more open to a Bitcoin ETF if it was based around futures rather than the cryptocurrency itself. However, even if the SEC finally green-lights the fund structure, it’s not a sure bet that a Bitcoin ETF would be met with huge demand, according to Meltem Demirors of Coinshares.
\n
“There’s so many venues for people to buy and sell Bitcoin, to get exposure to Bitcoin in tax-managed accounts,” said Demirors, chief strategy officer at CoinShares. “We’re not really sure what the demand will look like because is the maturation of crypto in the U.S. is already quite high.”
\n
After setting an all-time high of nearly $65,000 in April, Bitcoin resumed its volatile price swings. The world’s largest cryptocurrency dropped below $30,000 in June as environmental and regulatory concerns hammered sentiment. Bitcoin has since rebounded to more than $46,000, even as the U.S. Senate passed an infrastructure bill that would allow for broad oversight of virtual currencies.
\n
However, fund flows have yet to match the rebound. Bitcoin funds and futures are on track for a third straight month of outflows, the longest streak in data going back to 2014, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. The bulk of that decline is due to decreasing open interest in Bitcoin futures, meaning traders let their contracts roll off without renewing.
\n
The outflows might even be bigger, if not for the fact that the $30 billion Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (ticker GBTC) -- the largest crypto fund -- doesn’t allow for share redemptions. That’s after shares of the trust ballooned by the hundreds of millions earlier this year amid the crypto craze. As a result, GBTC has traded at a persistent discount to its underlying Bitcoin since March.
\n
But still, in the eyes of Bloomberg Intelligence’s James Seyffart, it’s just a matter of time before investors flood back into crypto funds.
\n
“I think there’s still demand for Bitcoin products that people can access on the traditional financial system rails, if you will,” Seyffart said. “Flows tend to follow performance in areas and products like this, so with the recent weeks of performance for Bitcoin, I wouldn’t be surprised to see those flow numbers potentially turn around.”
","source":"lsy1612507957220","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Bitcoin ETF Filing Flood Collides With Cooling Demand for Funds
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nBitcoin ETF Filing Flood Collides With Cooling Demand for Funds\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-08-11 23:24 GMT+8 finance.yahoo\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
(Bloomberg) -- U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler ignited a fresh wave of optimism among Bitcoin exchange-traded fund advocates this month -- but it’s unclear whether investors...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"COIN":"Coinbase Global, Inc."},"source_url":"https://finance.yahoo.com/news/bitcoin-etf-filing-flood-collides-150226371.html","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1197984437","content_text":"(Bloomberg) -- U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler ignited a fresh wave of optimism among Bitcoin exchange-traded fund advocates this month -- but it’s unclear whether investors share that enthusiasm.\nDigital-asset investment products from Grayscale, Bitwise, 21Shares and others saw outflows for the fifth straight week, the longest such streak since January 2018, according to data compiled by CoinShares. As a result, GBTC has traded at a persistent discount to its underlying Bitcoin since March.\nBut still, in the eyes of Bloomberg Intelligence’s James Seyffart, it’s just a matter of time before investors flood back into crypto funds.\n“I think there’s still demand for Bitcoin products that people can access on the traditional financial system rails, if you will,” Seyffart said. “Flows tend to follow performance in areas and products like this, so with the recent weeks of performance for Bitcoin, I wouldn’t be surprised to see those flow numbers potentially turn around.”","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"COIN":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":668,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":802957451,"gmtCreate":1627710488373,"gmtModify":1703495096502,"author":{"id":"3570593382729221","authorId":"3570593382729221","name":"Benzz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/05492ca80eadb47ced7a52ab97d09507","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3570593382729221","idStr":"3570593382729221"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good good","listText":"Good good","text":"Good good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/802957451","repostId":"2155001152","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":662,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":183076279,"gmtCreate":1623297360591,"gmtModify":1704200343047,"author":{"id":"3570593382729221","authorId":"3570593382729221","name":"Benzz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/05492ca80eadb47ced7a52ab97d09507","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3570593382729221","idStr":"3570593382729221"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good comment","listText":"Good comment","text":"Good comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/183076279","repostId":"1142408805","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1142408805","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623280126,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1142408805?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-10 07:08","market":"us","language":"en","title":"U.S. stocks end lower ahead of inflation report","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1142408805","media":"reuters","summary":"NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wall Street ended a see-saw session lower on Wednesday as market participants a","content":"
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wall Street ended a see-saw session lower on Wednesday as market participants awaited inflation data for clues as to when the U.S. Federal Reserve might tighten its dovish monetary policy.
\n
The retail “meme stock” craze continued unabated.
\n
All three major U.S. stock indexes reversed earlier gains, but remained range-bound in the absence of any clear market catalysts.
\n
“There’s a lull period in terms of news,” said Chuck Carlson, chief executive at Horizon Investment Services in Hammond, Indiana. “We’re through earnings period and people are waiting for inflation numbers tomorrow, so you have a mixed market where the major averages aren’t doing much of anything.”
\n
Heavily shorted meme stocks extended their social media-driven rally, with Aethlon Medical soaring 388.2%.
\n
Reddit chatter also helped to lift shares of prison operator GEO Group and World Wrestling Entertainment 38.4% and 10.9%, respectively.
\n
However, other meme stocks such as Clover Health, AMC Entertainment and Bed Bath & Beyond closed lower.
\n
Retail volume has returned to its January peak, according to Vanda Research, as social media forums scramble to identify the next GameStop Corp, the stock that kicked off the phenomenon.
\n
“It feels like alternative stock market,” Carlson added. green up pointing trianglelost about half of their value in the past year, raising the worth of some options tied to those shares. Theirshare declines have been much steeperthan many investors wagered, creating a mountain of deep in-the-money put option contracts—or those that allow investors to sell the shares at a price that is now far above current levels.On Jan. 9 at 12:30 p.m. ET, San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly joins Nick Timiraos, The Wall Street Journal’s chief economics correspondent, to discuss her outlook for the economy, inflation and interest rates in 2023.Nvidia shares, for instance, closed Friday at $148.59. Yet tens of thousands of put option contracts set to expire in the coming weeks could be exercised at $170 or above.Eyeing quick returns, many traders are selling contracts to reinvest the premium in ultrasafe short-term investments such as repurchase agreements that now offer their most attractive yields in more than a decade.The trades helped push the weekly amount spent on new put option purchases and sales above $40 billion four times in the fourth quarter, according to an analysis of Options Clearing Corp. data by derivatives-analytics firm SpotGamma. That compares with a weekly average of less than $10 billion through the first three quarters of 2022.Put options give traders the right, though not the obligation, to sell shares at a stated price by a certain date, while call options grant the right to buy.Brent Kochuba, founder of SpotGamma, describes the trade as an “arbitrage play” among big Wall Street firms. Activity gained steam in the latter half of 2022, during which the Federal Reserve increased its benchmark interest rate to above 4% from below 2%.“Megacap tech names have been beaten down, so there’s tons of put options that are now deep in the money,” he said. “Once interest rates surged, market makers piled in.”Although the amount of money that traders spent on options soared, the number of contracts traded rose by less than one-fifth, a shallow increase that suggests expensive puts, such as those that are deep in the money, were the ones changing hands.The options market as a whole has boomed in recent years, partly driven by individual investors who are lured by small upfront costs and quick potential payoffs. Trading activity set another record last year, with more than 41 million contracts changing hands on an average day.Short-dated options that allow traders toturbocharge wagershave surged in popularity recently. Trading of deep in-the-money contracts more than doubled to nearly 11% of daily average stock-options volume in the fourth quarter from a multiyear average around 5%, according toHenry Schwartz, senior director and head of product intelligence at the exchange Cboe Global Markets.Options trading is inherently risky. Typically, investors buy options to wager on the trajectory of a stock or index for a fraction of what it would cost to buy the security outright. The risk of selling is far greater—a trader could be on the hook to pay several times more than the initial cash they receive.The risk tied to the recent whirlwind of put options activity is different. Traders targeting deep in-the-money puts pay an initial outlay, then hope they aren’t forced to buy shares that eat up their capital when the bank or party on the other side of the trade exercises the options.“Firms will have a number of different objectives, and trade a variety of structures with slightly different exposures, but they are all going after the in-the-money puts,” saidJohn Zhu, U.S. head of trading at market maker Optiver in Chicago. Mr. Zhu noted that some traders might be looking to damp down existing exposures, rather than add new ones.One consequence of the boom in activity is in the ratio of equity put options to call options changing hands on Cboe. The ratio, traditionally seen as a measure of investor angst, recently rose to 2.4, after breaching 1.5 for the first time ever in December, according to Dow Jones Market Data.Despite the appearance of fear, other indicators suggest that options protecting from market turmoil are inlow demand. The Nations TailDex, which measures the cost of put options that would pay out in a major S&P 500 decline, recently hit a near-decade low.“Common thinking is that high readings in the Cboe equity put-call ratio suggest fear is rampant, because traders are purchasing a large number of puts,” Mr. Kochuba of SpotGamma said. “Occasionally, this can be correct. In this case, it is not.”","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"NVDA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":719,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
