That number is expected to grow at a rapid pace to $269 billion in annual spending by 2025. This means that, over the next three to four years, there will be approximately $91 billion in new annual spending on video games that companies can go after. This huge secular tailwind makes the gaming industry an attractive hunting ground for finding potential new investments.Three top gaming stocks that might make potential new investments in January are Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:EA), Nintendo (OTC:NTDOY), and Take-Two Interactive (NASDAQ:TTWO). Here's why.Image source: Getty Images.1. Electronic ArtsElectronic Arts is the premier publisher of sports video games in the world. It is best known for its FIFA Soccer and Madden NFL franchises, which are the biggest earnings drivers among its sports titles. On top of the sports franchises, EA has many other games, the most important being Apex Legends, the Sims, Battlefield, and some Star Wars games. In 2021, EA made multiple acquisitions, mainly to bolster its mobile and racing game strategy. It acquired Codemasters, the top racing video game developer, for $1.2 billion. The purchase includes the rights to the Formula One video game franchise, which is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world. The company also bought Glu Mobile for $2.4 billion early in 2021, which brought in a bunch of existing mobile games and a large team of mobile game developers. EA management hopes these two acquisitions will help grow its mobile gaming bookings (the revenue equivalent for video games). Last quarter, the company showed good progress in this strategy, with mobile bookings growing 62% year over year to $279 million. For fiscal year 2022, which ends in March, EA expects to generate $7.6 billion in net bookings and $1.95 billion in operating cash flow. With a market cap of $37.4 billion, EA trades at a forward price-to-operating cash-flow (P/OCF) ratio of 19. If you believe the company can continue to grow bookings and cash flow at a steady rate over the next decade, now could be an optimal time to take a position in this long-term compounder.2. NintendoThis second stock is probably the most recognizable video game company in the world: Nintendo. The company has stayed close to or at the top of the video game industry for decades, building huge franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Animal Crossing, just to name a few. It also owns a large chunk of the Pokemon Company, the top entertainment franchise in the world, giving it exclusive rights to publishing the Pokemon video games.Along with game development, Nintendo sells its own hardware devices. Its most recent iteration is the Nintendo Switch, which has sold almost 93 million units since its launch in 2017. There are two big metrics for Nintendo investors to watch, both interrelated. First, the core of the business starts with hardware unit sales. For the full fiscal year ending in March, management expects to ship 24 million Switch units, which is held back some due to semiconductor supply constraints. Over the next few years and beyond, investors should expect Nintendo to continue selling a large number of Switch (or whatever the next console will be called) devices to help keep its business humming.Hardware sales lead to software (i.e., game) sales, the other important metric for investors to follow. For the full fiscal year, Nintendo is expecting to deliver 200 million software units. This leads to operating profit guidance of $4.5 billion for the full fiscal year. With a market cap of only $42 billion when you cancel out the company's huge cash pile, this gives the stock a forward price-to-operating-profit ratio of only 9.3. This is dirt cheap for a company that has dominated the gaming industry for so long, which is why it is one of the best gaming stocks to buy this month.3. Take-Two InteractiveTo round out this gaming basket, we have a stock that is not as cheap as Nintendo or EA but has put up impressive growth numbers over the past decade. This stock is Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and NBA 2K. It has other franchises that it publishes games for, but these three are the most important from an investing perspective.Over the last decade, Take-Two has driven earnings and bookings growth through its live services, which bring in more recurring revenue from customers. The most important of these is GTA Online, the virtual world/gaming playground attached to Grand Theft Auto V. Even though GTA V was released all the way back in 2013, Take-Two is still generating plenty of bookings and cash flow from GTA Online with the 40-plus updates it has released since launch. It has also seen nice contributions from NBA 2K live services and Red Dead Redemption Online. From a financial perspective, Take-Two's recurring customer spending grew at a 37% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from fiscal year 2017 to fiscal year 2021. In absolute terms, recurring bookings grew from $665 million to $2.3 billion over that timespan. This has driven overall net bookings to grow at a 17% CAGR, hitting $3.5 billion in fiscal year 2021.In fiscal year 2021, Take-Two generated $912 million in operating cash flow, which is expected to drop to $380 million in fiscal year 2022 (which ends in March) as Take-Two reinvests for more growth and future game releases. With a market cap of $18.2 billion, that gives Take-Two stock a P/OCF ratio of 47.9. This looks expensive, but investors should expect cash flow to inflect back up closer to or above $1 billion a year over the next few years, as Take-Two gets out of this current development cycle and starts publishing more games, one of which could be GTA VI.If you have confidence in Take-Two's development execution and think it can continue growing its live services bookings at a high rate, then an $18.2 billion market cap is much too cheap for this long-term compounder.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"EA":1,"NTDOY":0.72,"TTWO":1,"CAGR":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1510,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":863258698,"gmtCreate":1632401468714,"gmtModify":1676530772993,"author":{"id":"3574045310314391","authorId":"3574045310314391","name":"Bluetan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f08bbb20e6f394d74fc7020c446c6248","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574045310314391","authorIdStr":"3574045310314391"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"?","listText":"?","text":"?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/863258698","repostId":"2169616196","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1851,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":869940361,"gmtCreate":1632237909653,"gmtModify":1676530732604,"author":{"id":"3574045310314391","authorId":"3574045310314391","name":"Bluetan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f08bbb20e6f394d74fc7020c446c6248","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574045310314391","authorIdStr":"3574045310314391"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$???","listText":"$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$???","text":"$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$???","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/270dfbb0e2543181c5a6d9a23d4366e5","width":"828","height":"1434"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":1,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/869940361","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1936,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":869957725,"gmtCreate":1632237867467,"gmtModify":1676530732595,"author":{"id":"3574045310314391","authorId":"3574045310314391","name":"Bluetan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f08bbb20e6f394d74fc7020c446c6248","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574045310314391","authorIdStr":"3574045310314391"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"????","listText":"????","text":"????","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5d77af1468ac76c19a3f1231b0d60add","width":"750","height":"2271"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/869957725","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1622,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":860179952,"gmtCreate":1632148652776,"gmtModify":1676530711686,"author":{"id":"3574045310314391","authorId":"3574045310314391","name":"Bluetan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f08bbb20e6f394d74fc7020c446c6248","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574045310314391","authorIdStr":"3574045310314391"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Zymergen, Inc.(ZY)$happy mid autumn festival ❤️","listText":"$Zymergen, Inc.(ZY)$happy mid autumn festival ❤️","text":"$Zymergen, Inc.(ZY)$happy mid autumn festival ❤️","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/265672da0c738d63ecef2c3d2c339ae2","width":"828","height":"1434"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/860179952","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1456,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":882031656,"gmtCreate":1631629960775,"gmtModify":1676530595119,"author":{"id":"3574045310314391","authorId":"3574045310314391","name":"Bluetan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f08bbb20e6f394d74fc7020c446c6248","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574045310314391","authorIdStr":"3574045310314391"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"My favorite stock! stocks have dividend yields that are at least three times as high as the yields on 10-year U.S","content":"
\n These stocks have dividend yields that are at least three times as high as the yields on 10-year U.S. Treasury notes.\n
\n
How can you avoid inflation, or at least make up for it?
\n
Consumers and investors may be alarmed by rising prices. But a combination of prudent spending and investing can help these overlapping groups of people get through a period of uncertainty brought about by pent-up demand and supply shortages.
\n
Below are two lists of 19 dividend stocks with attractive yields -- companies that are expected to have plenty of cash flow to cover dividend increases or other actions that may be good for shareholders, including stock repurchases and business expansion.
\n
The consumer price index rose by 0.9% in only one month . It's easy to say that you shouldn't buy a car or truck this year. The incredible demand for used vehicles has led to a shortage for many of the most popular new ones, which means dealers will be less likely to haggle.
\n
Of course you might be in a pickle and need to get another car or truck at the worst time, but maybe you can make a modest selection this time. You might also delay a plan to sell your home and move into a bigger one, considering that every other national housing boom you have ever witnessed has eventually cooled. In other words, it is possible some of your big spending plans can be curbed or delayed.
\n
Two dividend stock screens
\n
What do you want from a dividend stock? The most obvious answer is \"income,\" but what may be more important is that the dividend increases over time. That's how you stay ahead of inflation. Even when official inflation figures are low, your personal inflation can be considerable, depending on your circumstances. Or you may need investment income to replace part of your working income when you retire.
\n
Here's a recent list of the 30 stocks in the S&P 500 index whose dividends increased the most over the past five years . Their dividend yields may not have been very high to begin with, but if you had held them for five years, the yields on your five-year-old shares would have grown significantly.
\n
For this new screen, we took a different approach to focus more on higher current dividend yields. Beginning with the S&P Composite 1500 Index (made up of the S&P 500 , the S&P Mid Cap 400 Index $(MID)$ and the S&P Small Cap 600 Index ), we started with stocks with dividend yields of at least 4.26% -- three times the 1.42% yield on 10-year U.S. Treasury notes on July 13.
\n
Then we looked at free cash flow yields. A company's free cash flow is its remaining cash flow after planned capital expenditures. It can be used to increase dividends, buy back stock, pay down debt, business expansion or fund acquisitions. A free cash flow yield that is higher than the dividend yield can provide investors with some comfort that a company is unlikely to cut its dividend and maybe be in a position to increase it.
\n
A trailing free cash flow yield can be calculated by dividing the past four quarters' free cash flow per share by the current share price. If available, consensus estimates for the next 12 months can be used to calculate a forward FCF yield. If the FCF yield is above the current dividend yield, there is free cash flow \"headroom.\" (The screen below only includes companies for which forward FCF estimates were available from FactSet.)
\n
Financial companies were excluded from the screen, as FCF yield analysis isn't appropriate for the group. Companies with fewer than five analysts polled for FactSet's estimates were also excluded. For real estate investment trusts, funds from operations (FFO) is the industry standard for gauging dividend-paying ability. So there is a separate screen for that group below.
\n
Starting with the S&P Composite 1500, here are the eight stocks that made the cut, with dividend yields of at least 4.26%, positive forward and trailing FCF \"headroom\" and no dividend cuts over the past three years, according to data provided by FactSet. The list is sorted by dividend yield:
\n
\n
\n
\n
Company
\n
Dividend yield
\n
Forward FCF yield
\n
Forward \"headroom\"
\n
Trailing FCF yield
\n
Trailing \"headroom\"
\n
\n
\n
Williams Cos. Ordinarily that would appear to be plenty of headroom to support the dividend. But it implies a payout ratio of 62%, which is much higher than the ratio of the current yield to the forward FCF yield.
\n
REITs
\n
For a second screen of real estate investment trusts, we used funds from operations (FFO) instead of free cash flow. FFO adds depreciation on real estate to earnings and nets out gains or losses on the sale of property. Here are the 10 highest-yielding REITs in the S&P Composite 1500 with positive forward and trailing FFO \"headroom\" and no dividend cuts over the past three years, according to data provided by FactSet:
\n
\n
\n
\n
REIT
\n
Dividend yield
\n
Forward FFO yield
\n
Forward \"headroom\"
\n
Trailing FFO yield
\n
Trailing \"headroom\"
\n
\n
\n
Omega Healthcare Investors Inc.
