This is also the world's first public test ride of Huawei's autonomous driving technology.

Two days later, on April 17, ARCFOX, a high-end brand under BAIC New Energy, launched its second new car, the Alpha S. There are 6 versions of the new car, priced from 251,900 yuan to 429,900 yuan. Among them, the Alpha S Huawei HI version, which cooperates with Huawei, was also unveiled as scheduled, with two versions: the basic version and the high-end version, with pre-sale prices of 388,900 yuan and 429,900 yuan respectively.

On the eve of the Shanghai International Auto Show, on April 18, at the Huawei HI new product launch conference, Wang Jun (hereinafter referred to as \"Wang Jun\"), president of Huawei Smart Car Solutions BU, said that Huawei will release five new products, covering smart cockpit, computing platform, radar, autonomous driving open platform and thermal management system.

On April 20th, three Cyrus Huawei Smart Selection SF5 cars drove into Huawei's world's largest flagship store on Nanjing East Road, Shanghai. Together with Huawei's mobile phones, smart screens, PCs and series of smart selection products, they were waiting for consumers to choose and buy.

The latest news is that Yu Chengdong, who was transferred to Huawei Cloud Business as CEO in April this year, was appointed as CEO of Smart Car Solution BU (hereinafter referred to as \"Car BU\") on May 18. In addition, Yu Chengdong still serves as CEO of Consumer BG.

From the release of test ride videos, to the launch of cooperative models and the release of new products, then to the sales in offline stores, and finally to the personnel changes of car BU. Huawei's set of combination boxing is exquisite.

And behind this combination punch, where has Huawei's autonomous driving technology developed, which has officially ended? What impact will Huawei's entry have on the entire smart car industry?

Huawei finally took the first step to \"engage in\" cars
Huawei's fate has dealt a \"heavy blow\" to the turbulent car manufacturing market.

The model Alpha S jointly launched by Huawei and BAIC has attracted widespread attention and discussion. The big reason is that this is the first time that Huawei has joined the \"car-making movement\" as an industry participant. Judging from the statements of Huawei'S senior management, Huawei'S layout in smart cars is far more than that.

Wang Jun said that the new model of Huawei's cooperation with Changan will also be launched soon, and the L4 intelligent driving car plan of cooperation with GAC will be launched in 2024. In addition, Huawei Smart Selection will cooperate withXiaokang sharesReached a formal cooperation to sell Cyrus, a new energy brand owned by Xiaokang Co., Ltd., through its channels.

Behind the ability to reach cooperative relationships with many car companies is Huawei's continuous increase in investment in the automotive business。 Wang Jun once said that in 2021, Huawei's capital investment in automotive business research and development will reach US $1 billion, and the number of R&D team members will exceed 5,000, including more than 2,000 employees in the autonomous driving team.

It is worth noting that at a time when smart hardware manufacturers lacking the automotive industry chain have already launched car manufacturing layouts, it is obviously not too early for Huawei to enter the game. Why did Huawei decide to enter the game until this time? What intentions are hidden behind this? Intelligent relativity believes that this may be related to the following two factors:

First, Huawei has always implemented a \"steady\" development strategy. Throughout Huawei's development history, whether it was the first to produce user switches or later to focus on the smartphone business, Huawei has achieved good results in the businesses it is determined to invest in. But from the perspective of entering the new track, Huawei is often not the \"first company to eat crabs\", and the same is true in the field of car manufacturing.

The formation of this development strategy can be said to be Huawei's active choice or a \"helpless move\".From 1998 to 2002, the domestic communication market entered the explosive period of 2G construction, but at that time the market share was basicallyEricssonMotorola,NokiaWaiting for foreign companies to divide up, and foreign communication giants jointly lower prices to prevent Huawei from obtaining orders.

History repeats itself twenty years later. At present, Huawei's situation is not better than that of 20 years ago, only worse. Determined to attack and strive to be the number one in the car manufacturing industry, Huawei may have lost the opportunity; Then it's the best policy to hold on first and then appear at the right time.

Second, from the perspective of the external environment, Huawei's fate at this time may also be at the right point in time。 2017 can be described as the first climax of electric vehicles, but there are endless concerns about industry bubbles; The continuous losses of entering companies in 2019 have pushed the industry to a trough; And with 2020TeslaWith the increase in the delivery volume of new domestic car-making forces, the industry has also ushered in a second wave of climax.

According to the statistics of \"Chinese Entrepreneur\", from November 2020 to March 2021, in five months, nine companies including Didi, pony, momenta, WeRide, Zhijia, TuSimple, Inceptio, Uisee, and Horizon The company received a total of US $3.4 billion in financing. Also rising is the valuation of autonomous driving companies. The latest valuation of Didi's autonomous driving subsidiary is about US $6 billion, and the latest valuation of Pony.ai has reached US $5.3 billion.

In terms of time, the absolute time for Huawei to officially end is not too early, but judging from the development trajectory and history of the industry, Huawei's entry at this time may have been chosen at a relatively favorable development time point.

Among the vigorous \"car-making team\", Huawei's huge size and relatively strong ICT technology capabilities have pushed it to a higher position, and \"being in a high position\" is definitely indispensable to question.

Is Huawei's \"car journey\" smooth?
On April 18, three days after Huawei released the self-driving video, a \"onlooker\" comment was pinned to the top of the public opinion field-\"Tesla has finally met an opponent with equal technical strength and fudge ability.\"

The commenter is Wang Xing, founder of Meituan.

Not only Wang Xing, but also colleagues in the field of car manufacturing have expressed their opinions on Huawei's first model.

XPeng vehiclesFounder He XPeng believes that Huawei is very good in the short term, but in the long run it is optimistic about the integration of software and hardware.

NioCEO Li Bin believes: \"Now the world's mobile phone companies together make no moneyAppleThere are many families, thoughQualcomm, Android,GoogleThey are all great, but in the end, Apple has the best experience, which shows that integrated design is very important. \"

From the perspective of competitors, in the current smoke-filled car-making track, the emergence of a strong enemy is naturally not a good thing. Aside from Huawei's brand filters and the slightly sarcastic remarks of its rivals, what kind of development strategy does Huawei adopt in the autonomous driving track? What are Huawei's technical capabilities as Tier1's first self-driving model?

1. L4 autonomous driving \"Fengyun\"

Alpha S'S autonomous driving technology has reached L4 level. This level of autonomous driving technology is already highly automated, and the performer of driving operations is the system, not the driver. Judging from the video officially released by Huawei on April 15th, although the driver touched the steering wheel, he did not perform specific operations, and relied on the automatic driving system for the entire journey on urban roads.

At present, more than 90% of the electric vehicles equipped with autonomous driving systems on the market belong to the L2-L2.5 level. The autonomous driving level of the Alpha S Huawei HI version has reached the L4 level, and it was announced that it will be mass-produced at the end of this year. However, under the background that the L3 level has not yet been rolled out on a large scale to achieve commercialization, how much credibility does Huawei have to reach the L4 level?

An industry insider told Intelligent Relativity:\"Although Huawei's HI version claims to be L4, it is actually based on the L4 autonomous driving architecture and provides a full-stack solution for L4-L2 + autonomous driving, which can meet the smooth evolution needs of L4-L2 +.\"

It can be seen from this that Huawei's HI version only reaches L4 level in terms of infrastructure, rather than L4 in a complete technical sense. In fact, what can really be achieved may only be L2 level.Interestingly, Tesla once claimed that its autonomous driving system reached L5 level, but after testing by regulatory authorities, it admitted that its FSD was only L2 level. The Huawei HI version equipped with L4 infrastructure also paves the way for later adaptive evolution based on driving data.

After the release of Huawei's HI version, the immediately released Weimar W6 also claimed that its autonomous driving system reached L4 level-byBaiduApollo provides technically supported AVP unmanned autonomous parking system. This system claims to be the first to realize L4 level unmanned driving. In fixed parking space scenarios such as residences and companies, vehicles only need to learn once to find their own path and park.

WM W6's AVP unmanned autonomous parking system only supports fixed parking space scenarios such as residences and companies, and how to solve the generalization of autonomous driving scenarios is an important factor in realizing the upgrade of autonomous driving system. This generalization is embodied in the driving ability in different scenarios such as tunnels, expressways, and busy urban sections, and its realization relies heavily on high-precision maps.

The Alpha S HI version is positioned as urban autonomous driving, and collecting urban road network data is a quite huge and complicated project. The high-precision map used by XPeng P7 can only cover the high-speed sections of key cities. According to public information, by the end of mass production, the Alfa S HI version will only provide high-precision maps in four cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. It is speculated that large-scale mass production may take time.

On the whole, compared with peers, the performance of Huawei's autonomous driving technology is at a relatively good level in the industry. However, the time for L4 to enter the practical stage depends not only on the hardware performance and local computing of the car, but also on the supporting infrastructure-or commonly known as \"vehicle-road collaboration\". And this is also a common problem that all players on this track need to face.

2. Can the high-end route still go through?

The price of Huawei's first car as a supplier is quite controversial.

The pre-sale prices of Alpha S Huawei HI version, basic version and high-end version are 388,900 yuan and 429,900 yuan respectively. Among them, the basic version with Huawei ADS highway autonomous driving function is priced at 388,900 yuan and is equipped with Huawei ADS complete autonomous driving. The high-end version with driving (including urban areas, highways, valet parking, etc.) functions is priced at 429,900 yuan.

Even in the current mid-to-high-end new energy vehicle market, this price is not low. So, why is the Alpha S Huawei HI version so expensive?

The technology used by Huawei in the autonomous driving perception layer is lidar. The Alfa S Huawei HI version is equipped with three 96-line car-grade lidars. Among the new car-making forces, XPeng has the most radical advancement of automatic assisted driving technology. The latest XPeng P5 also only uses two lidars.

The more lines the lidar has, the higher the recognition accuracy, the larger the amount of data processed, and the higher the cost。 At present, the prices of lidar from mainstream manufacturers around the world are not low. A 64-line mechanical lidar from Velodyne is priced at US $80,000, and the cheaper 16-line lidar is also priced at close to US $10,000.Therefore, it can be said that in the current environment, the use of multi-linear lidar has pushed up the price of the Alpha S Huawei HI version to a certain extent.

Regardless of the impact of 96-line lidar on raising prices, Intelligent Relativity believes that judging from the price of Huawei's first Tier1 electric vehicle, Huawei seems to want to adopt the high price of its mobile phone business in the automotive business. price route. However, in the automotive field, which does not occupy much dominance at present, can Huawei's high price strategy work?

Huawei's P series and Mate series have been able to capture the high-end mobile phone market in recent years. Apart from sentiments and brands, the most important thing is that Huawei has mastered complete ICT technology and self-research capabilities for chips such as Kirin and Kunpeng. From the perspective of intelligent relativity, discussing Huawei's electric vehicles cannot actually be separated from the mobile phone business. Both have something in common in technology and ecology.

Technically, many of the sensors Huawei relies on for autonomous driving are of the same origin as its ICT business. For example, millimeter wave radar uses millimeter waves with wavelengths of 1 to 10mm to use ToF technology for detection, and the 5G baseband chip Balong 5000 launched by Huawei also supports millimeter wave communications in the 26GHz and 28GHz frequency bands;

Another example is that the working principle of lidar is ToF, and Huawei P30 Pro is equipped with an infrared emitter and a ToF lens. It calculates the depth of field of objects by measuring the reflection time difference of infrared light and optimizes the background blur effect of mobile phone shooting.

Ecologically, Huawei's HarmonyOS system has recently begun to push public beta versions, and the number of adapted models has also begun to increase. Huawei's HarmonyOS system will begin to push the official version of Hongmeng system on a large scale in June. The Alfa S Huawei HI version is also equipped with a HarmonyOS smart cockpit, using the Kirin 990A cockpit chip.

Huawei's years of intensive cultivation in the ICT field have enabled Huawei's existing ICT technology capabilities to be partially migrated to its autonomous driving system. The integration of the Hongmeng ecosystem has also integrated smart cars into a part of Huawei's IoT, becoming an interface with far more traffic than smartphones.

An interesting aspect is that in an interview with reporters, He XPeng, who is optimistic about Huawei in the short term, believes that the urban NGP function that XPeng will launch in the future will not perform worse than Huawei; Li Xiang also said on social platforms that his self-developed autonomous driving system (standard with 508Tops computing power and lidar) can completely compete head-on with Huawei and Tesla next year. Both regard being comparable to Huawei as their follow-up development goals.

The technical level may provide a focus for the high premium of Huawei's automotive business, so will the market and the entire industry pay for it?

Are full-stack solutions the industry's \"antidote\"?
Less than 48 hours after Huawei announced self-driving mass production cars, Baidu also announced smart car solutions and self-driving car mass production plans.

One of the core products of this solution, Apollo Smart Driving, is an autonomous driving mass-produced engine based on L4 autonomous driving technology. The engine includes the driving domain solution ANP based on L4 autonomous driving capabilities and the mass-produced L4 autonomous driving. Parking domain solution AVP.

Baidu's move is quite \"pointing the needle to the wheat awn\". Huawei's recent series of actions in the automotive business have attracted the attention of major car companies. Among them, there are concerns about \"latecomers\" with strong technology, and it is also expected that the entry of new entrants will bring benefits to the entire autonomous driving industry chain. factor. Specifically, what impact will Huawei have on the entire smart car industry and players in the industry?

Before discussing this issue, let's take a look at the business scope and technical solutions of Huawei's car BU.Since the establishment of Car BU, its smart car business has developed five major business portfolios, including smart driving, smart cockpit, smart electric, smart network connection and car cloud services.

From the perspective of technical solutions, it is divided into basic hardware electric drive system, 5G module, autonomous driving sensor, computing platform module (autonomous driving computing platform, MCU, domain control module), basic software system HiCar, HarmonyOS, and CCA architecture.

From the perspective of business portfolio and technical solutions, Huawei has self-developed almost all the core businesses of smart cars, from hardware to software. Tesla has the advantage of massive trip data of users around the world, Baidu's algorithm capabilities are second to none, and Huawei is more like an \"all-round player\" who can connect the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain. This strength is not a new car-making force, or Didi and Xiaomi, which announced to build cars, do not have it.

Huawei, which has full-stack self-research capabilities, is actually in a relatively favorable position in the smart car industry. At present, all links of the smart car industry with an undetermined pattern are in a relatively scattered state, and the advantages of industry participants are only concentrated in a certain link. Huawei's full-stack advantages may be able to integrate the current situation of the scattered industry to a certain extent and win a relatively high voice,But this may depend on time to prove.

Being strong is one aspect, while how to deal with the relationship with other players constitutes another aspect. For other players in the industry, do they believe in Huawei and cooperate with it when the automotive industry chain is undergoing huge changes? It is no longer a matter of trust, but a matter of distribution in the future value chain.

Why do you say that?

In the traditional three-tier automobile industry chain, the whole machine manufacturer is at the outermost layer, directly facing the consumer market; Tier 1 suppliers (Tier1) that provide electronic solutions such as Bosch and Continental are in the middle layer. The automaker directly purchases the solutions or parts provided by Tier1 without knowing its technical structure, which also falls within the scope of intellectual property protection of Tier1.

With the development of pure electric vehicles and autonomous driving technology, algorithm-driven \"software-defined cars\" have become a new trend, which is a threat to OEMs。 On the one hand, core technologies such as transmissions and engines of OEMs are useless in pure electric vehicles; On the other hand, due to the inability to control the technology of electronic solutions provided by Tier1, car companies cannot independently find problems and repair them after accidents, nor can they promote the iteration of ADAS algorithms themselves.

Huawei, which has full-stack solution capabilities, has strong bargaining power when cooperating with complete machine factories. In the Alpha S Huawei HI version, Huawei'S logo is in a conspicuous position on the car body. To some extent, Huawei, as a supplier, stands in the position of the whole machine factory, which is different from the common practice that the whole machine factory controls the brand and sales channels in the past.

No one wants to be at the end of the industry chain in a new round of automotive revolution. Leading car companies have set up software teams one after another, focusing on self-developed autonomous driving perception algorithms, and trying to become their own Tier1 by cooperating with Tier2. If small and medium-sized car companies without self-research capabilities choose to cooperate with Tier1 companies like Huawei, how to distribute profits and whether the production capacity needs of small and medium-sized car companies can meet Huawei's mass production needs are all issues that need to be faced in the future.

On April 28, Huawei announced its operating results for the first quarter of 2021. Due to the decline in Honor sales and mobile phone sales, operating income fell by 16.9% year-on-year to 150.057 billion yuan. Huawei's overall revenue in 2021 is expected to face greater pressure.

Technically, many of the sensors Huawei relies on for autonomous driving are of the same origin as its ICT business. For example, millimeter wave radar uses millimeter waves with wavelengths of 1 to 10mm to use ToF technology for detection, and the 5G baseband chip Balong 5000 launched by Huawei also supports millimeter wave communications in the 26GHz and 28GHz frequency bands;

The automotive business may be the focus of Huawei's efforts in the next few years.

Huawei has invested a lot in the smart car business. The key in the later stage is to achieve mass production as soon as possible. How to handle the delicate relationship with partners depends not only on the OEM's judgment on its own development, but also tests Huawei's wisdom.
\n
\n\n\n
source:<a CEO。 ,"news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1832,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":139936551,"gmtCreate":1621583020973,"gmtModify":1704360038642,"author":{"id":"3581813873000037","authorId":"3581813873000037","name":"1568711y","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6ead8aa742348173ff6c553fe96a98cb","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3581813873000037","idStr":"3581813873000037"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Qeryuiijhh","listText":"Qeryuiijhh","text":"Qeryuiijhh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/139936551","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2056,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":197455355,"gmtCreate":1621481342577,"gmtModify":1704358318077,"author":{"id":"3581813873000037","authorId":"3581813873000037","name":"1568711y","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6ead8aa742348173ff6c553fe96a98cb","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3581813873000037","idStr":"3581813873000037"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Savings business has continued to emerge.

On April 15, Huawei released a public test ride of the BAIC New Energy Extreme Fox Alpha S HI version equipped with Huawei's autonomous driving technology in Shanghai.

Technically, many of the sensors Huawei relies on for autonomous driving are of the same origin as its ICT business. For example, millimeter wave radar uses millimeter waves with wavelengths of 1 to 10mm to use ToF technology for detection, and the 5G baseband chip Balong 5000 launched by Huawei also supports millimeter wave communications in the 26GHz and 28GHz frequency bands;

Technically, many of the sensors Huawei relies on for autonomous driving are of the same origin as its ICT business. For example, millimeter wave radar uses millimeter waves with wavelengths of 1 to 10mm to use ToF technology for detection, and the 5G baseband chip Balong 5000 launched by Huawei also supports millimeter wave communications in the 26GHz and 28GHz frequency bands;

\n
\n\n\n
source:<a CEO。 ,"news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1832,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":197455355,"gmtCreate":1621481342577,"gmtModify":1704358318077,"author":{"id":"3581813873000037","authorId":"3581813873000037","name":"1568711y","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6ead8aa742348173ff6c553fe96a98cb","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3581813873000037","idStr":"3581813873000037"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Savings
