AMC shareholders of record as of Aug. 15 will receive the units. However, anyone who purchased shares of AMC stock before today will receive the dividend.CEO Adam Aron tweeted yesterday that APE will begin trading on the NYSE sometime this morning:Remember, with the APE seeing its first trade on the NYSE at some time tomorrow morning, the value of your AMC investment will be the combination of your AMC shares and your new APE units. An AMC share plus a new APE unit added together — compared to just an AMC share previously.— Adam Aron (@CEOAdam) August 21, 2022Adding to the pressure on AMC is that movie theater competitor Cineworld (OTCMKTS:CNNWF) is preparing for possible bankruptcy. Cinemark is currently evaluating its options for additional liquidity and may restructure its balance sheet by deleveraging. The company warned that existing shareholders will likely be diluted in the process, as admissions have been weak this year. With that in mind, let’s get into the details of the new APE dividend.AMC Stock: 10 Things to Know About the APE DividendShares of AMC stock are falling lower today to reflect the value of the APE dividend. As Aron explained, an AMC investment is worth the combination of an AMC share and an APE unit. The units will be tradable on the NYSE under the “APE” ticker.AMC Entertainment will issue roughly 517 million APE units. A unit will be issued for each common share of AMC outstanding. Each unit will represent “an interest in 1/100th of a share” of preferred stock. As a result, each unit will have the same voting rights as one share of AMC common stock.AMC noted that the special dividend’s effect on AMC stock will “be similar to a 2/1 stock split.”B. Riley analyst Eric Wold believes APE and AMC will trade at “relatively equal prices” because the two classes of equity have “equal economic value and voting rights.”Another 4.5 billion APE units could be sold after the initial issuance, if the board approves. The APE units can technically be converted into AMC stock, pending a board proposition and shareholder approval. However, the company does not expect its board to propose a convertibility feature “any time soon.”The number of AMC common shares will not change, remaining at 516.82 million.CEO Adam Aron characterized today’s APE dividend news as “perhaps the single biggest action [the company] will take in all of 2022 to fundamentally strengthen AMC for the long term.”","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AMC":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3000,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9996604696,"gmtCreate":1661155157917,"gmtModify":1676536463406,"author":{"id":"3582000511223755","authorId":"3582000511223755","name":"Patrula","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e998c6729f24d01c9ba732e80da3632c","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582000511223755","idStr":"3582000511223755"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9996604696","repostId":"2260237966","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2260237966","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1661153718,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2260237966?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-08-22 15:35","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Here’s Why Warren Buffett Loves Oil Giant Occidental Petroleum","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2260237966","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Berkshire won FERC approval to buy up to 50% of the stockFull takeover of Occidental could be Berksh","content":"
\n
Berkshire won FERC approval to buy up to 50% of the stockFull takeover of Occidental could be Berkshire’s biggest everWarren BuffettPhotographer: Andrew Harrer/BloombergFamed investor Warren Buffett ...
\n\nSource Link\n\n
\n","source":"lsy1584095487587","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; His Berkshire Hathaway Inc. on Friday won approval to buy as much as 50% of the shares. Some investors believe it’s a step toward a full takeover, which may end up costing more than $50 billion. Here’s why Occidental is attractive to Berkshire:OilInflation looks to be the mega-trend for the first half of the 2020s and crude oil is one of the best natural hedges out there. Russia - Ukraine war and a lack of investment in new oilfields over the past five years have hit supplies, leading to stagnant production profiles everywhere from OPEC to US shale. Meanwhile, demand for fossil fuels has been strong coming out of the pandemic even as governments push for a switch to clean energy. With investments across the energy sector from utilities to solar power, Buffett claims to be a realist in the debate around fossil fuels. “People that are on the extremes of both sides are a little nuts,” he said at a Berkshire shareholder meeting in 2021.FamiliarityBuffett first invested in Occidental in 2019 when the oil company was in a bidding war with Chevron Corp. to buy its crosstown Houston rival, Anadarko. Occidental CEO Vicki Hollub flew to Omaha, Nebraska, on the company’s Gulfstream V and convinced Buffett to add $10 billion to her war chest. It was enough to swing the deal and Chevron pulled out soon after. In exchange, Buffett got preferred shares yielding 8% annually plus warrants to buy more common stock at $59.62 apiece. Today, with Occidental at $71.29, those warrants would turn a profit of more than $900 million if exercised.ValueInitially the Anadarko deal was a disaster because it loaded up Occidental’s balance sheet with more than $30 billion of additional debt right before the pandemic. Occidental’s market value went from $50 billion before the 2019 transaction to less than $9 billion toward the end of 2020 as oil prices crashed. But on the flip side, this created a good value play for Buffett. When crude turned around late last year and was supercharged by Ukraine war, Occidental was best-placed to benefit. The stock is the best performer in the S&P 500 this year, up more than 140% compared with the index’s 11% decline.“Oxy started this year heavily indebted with massive oil exposure,” said Bill Smead, who manages $4.8 billion at Smead Capital Management Inc. and is a top 20 shareholder in Occidental. Soaring crude prices mean “they’re now paying off that debt and gushing cash. It’s the best of all worlds.”CashToo much cash has been Berkshire’s biggest investing challenge over the past few years. The conglomerate had about $105 billion on hand at the end of June. It is expected to generate about $8 billion in free cash flow each quarter for the next five years, according to Greggory Warren of Morningstar Research Services LLC. Inflation at the highest in 40 years is a great incentive to put that money to work.Occidental would work better as a subsidiary of Berkshire than a stock holding “given the volatility that exists in the energy/commodity markets,” Warren said. “This could end up, though, evolving into a slow-motion takeover where Berkshire buys up to the stakes that FERC allows it to acquire until it can acquire Oxy whole.”ShaleOccidental is not only one of the biggest producers in the Permian Basin, the largest US oilfield, but it also has one of the lowest costs with an oil price of just $40 a barrel needed to sustain its dividend. West Texas Intermediate currently trades at about $90 a barrel. Hollub has reined in the “drill-baby-drill” mentality that characterized shale for the first decade of its lifespan and is now prioritizing profits over production. Free cash flow hit a record $4.2 billion in the second quarter. The Anadarko purchase may have been expensive, but it allowed Occidental to lift its land holdings in the Permian to 2.8 million acres, 14 times the size of New York City’s five boroughs combined. It also added steady, cash-flowing assets in the Gulf of Mexico and Algeria.CEOBuffett has a good personal relationship with Hollub, which began at the 2019 meeting in Omaha, brokered by Bank of America Corp. CEO Brian Moynihan. This year, the veteran investor praised Hollub after reading a transcript of Occidental’s Feb. 25 earnings conference call in which she pledged financial discipline even as oil prices were rising.“I read every word, and said this is exactly what I would be doing,” Buffett told CNBC’s Becky Quick in “Squawk Box” in March. “She’s running the company the right way.”Inflation Reduction ActThe oil industry mostly criticized the Inflation Reduction Act that President Joe Biden signed into law this month. The $437 billion legislation “discourages needed investment in oil and gas” and offers “the wrong policies at the wrong time,” the American Petroleum Institute said. But Hollub was surprisingly upbeat, calling the bill “very positive.” That may have something to do with its expansion of tax credits for carbon capture, of which Occidental is a leading proponent. The company has plans to build the world’s biggest direct air capture plant which will command a tax credit of as much as $180 for each ton of carbon sucked out of the air.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"BRK.A":0.9,"OXY":1,"BRK.B":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3082,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9991164905,"gmtCreate":1660791111409,"gmtModify":1676536400557,"author":{"id":"3582000511223755","authorId":"3582000511223755","name":"Patrula","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e998c6729f24d01c9ba732e80da3632c","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582000511223755","idStr":"3582000511223755"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$SEMBCORP MARINE LTD(S51.SI)$<v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>0Bullish0. 112","listText":"$SEMBCORP MARINE LTD(S51.SI)$<v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>0Bullish0. 112","text":"$SEMBCORP MARINE LTD(S51.SI)$0Bullish0. 112","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9991164905","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3209,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9999640399,"gmtCreate":1660527814113,"gmtModify":1676533486593,"author":{"id":"3582000511223755","authorId":"3582000511223755","name":"Patrula","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e998c6729f24d01c9ba732e80da3632c","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582000511223755","idStr":"3582000511223755"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Tks","listText":"Tks","text":"Tks","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9999640399","repostId":"1120146364","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1120146364","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1660521372,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1120146364?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-08-15 07:56","market":"sg","language":"en","title":"Rebound Likely For Singapore Stock Market","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1120146364","media":"RTTNews","summary":"The Singapore stock market on Friday halted the two-day winning streak in which it had collected mor","content":"

The Singapore stock market on Friday halted the two-day winning streak in which it had collected more than 30 points or 1 percent. One of Buffett's tips for the investing community is to go in big when you see a good opportunity.Buffett is actually not a big fan of diversification, having famously said that it is a \"protection against ignorance\" and \"makes little sense if you know what you're doing.\" This theme is quite evident in Berkshire's portfolio, which is heavily concentrated among just a handful of names. Even right now with all of the market volatility, nearly 65% of Buffett and Berkshire's portfolio is composed of these four stocks.Apple: 39%For those that follow Buffett, it should come as no surprise to hear that the consumer tech giant Apple is the largest position in Berkshire's portfolio, making up more than a third. Berkshire began buying Apple in 2016 and now owns more than 911 million shares valued at more than $121.7 billion. One reason Buffett loves Apple is because of the company's durable cash-generating business. In the company's most recent quarter, Apple had more than $28 billion of operating cash flow and a profit of more than $25 billion. For the fiscal year 2021, Apple generated more than $104 billion of operating cash flow. This has enabled Apple to buy back a lot of stock, which we know Buffett loves. Apple has now repurchased more than $467 billion of its stock over the past decade.Apple has also created one of the world's most enviable brands with products like the iPhone, and there are more than 1.8 billion active Apple devices. This kind of brand power is particularly helpful in times of inflation because consumers are so loyal that Apple can pass on rising costs to consumers. All of these reasons help explain why Apple stock has appreciated almost 280% over the last five years.Bank of America: 10.4%Buffett knows the banking sector incredibly well and has long been an investor in large bank stocks. Interestingly, as Buffett and Berkshire were selling other large bank stocks like JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Wells Fargo during the early months of the pandemic, it was buying Bank of America. Berkshire plowed more than $2 billion into the stock in 12 consecutive trading days in August 2020. Berkshire now owns just under 12% of shares outstanding and could be allowed to purchase up to nearly 25% of the stock, according to the Federal Reserve.Bank of America is a huge beneficiary of rising interest rates and will see net interest income, the profits banks make on loans, securities, and cash after funding those assets, soar as the Fed continues to hike rates. Bank of America has also greatly improved its deposit base, which is now composed of even more sticky, low-cost retail deposits that will reprice slower as rates go up.The bank has also successfully built out its investment banking and trading operations, which are now among the dominant players in the industry. Although underwriting activity for events like initial public offerings is way down, all of this market volatility will help Bank of America's trading businesses. Bank of America is also planning to keep expenses unchanged this year, which would be a great accomplishment amid rising inflation.Chevron: 8.2%Buffett and Berkshire have had a bit of a mixed relationship with Chevron. Berkshire first bought the stock in 2020, then sold some of it in 2021, and then bought significantly more toward the end of 2021 and in the first quarter of this year. Overall, Berkshire now owns roughly 159.2 million shares of Chevron valued at more than $26.1 billion, making it a top position.Clearly, Buffett got much more interested in U.S. oil stocks as Russia's invasion of Ukraine played out and as the cost of oil exploded to more than $120 per barrel at times. Chevron recently traded at all-time highs but has since sold off a bit. Earlier this year, the company raised its free cash flow projections and share- repurchase plans. There is certainly debate about which direction oil prices could head in the near and long term, but Chevron has said it can cover its capital return aspirations with the price of oil below $50 per barrel. The company has paid a dividend for 35 straight years and currently has an attractive annual dividend yield of roughly 3.4%.American Express: 7%The credit card and payments company American Express is another one of those brands that Buffett absolutely loves and has admired over the years because of the intense customer loyalty it commands. Buffett has owned American Express since the 1960s.Last July, AmEx raised the annual subscription fee for its platinum card from $550 to $695. Since then, the company has still seen strong card growth, adding a record 3 million new card accounts in the first quarter of 2022, 68% of which were new fee-based cards such as the platinum card.Credit card companies can do well with rising interest rates because they can charge higher interest on purchase balances. However, credit card companies can also struggle with high inflation if it slows consumer spending or if inflation tips the economy into a recession and loan losses rise. Still, American Express has one of the best brands in the industry, and Buffett and Berkshire have ridden out many recessions holding the stock.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AXP":0.88,"BAC":0.9,"AAPL":0.9,"CVX":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":4277,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9082432130,"gmtCreate":1650590250289,"gmtModify":1676534759322,"author":{"id":"3582000511223755","authorId":"3582000511223755","name":"Patrula","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e998c6729f24d01c9ba732e80da3632c","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582000511223755","idStr":"3582000511223755"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Tks","listText":"Tks","text":"Tks","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9082432130","repostId":"1101922424","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1101922424","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1650502682,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1101922424?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-04-21 08:58","market":"sg","language":"en","title":"Singapore Stocks to watch: Sabana Reit, Mapletree Commercial Trust, Keppel Reit, Singtel","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1101922424","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"THE following companies saw new developments that may affect trading of their securities on Thursday","content":"

THE following companies saw new developments that may affect trading of their securities on Thursday (Apr 21):

Sabana Reit: The manager of Sabana Industrial Reit (Sabana Reit) and activist investor Quarz Capital Management have been working hard to win over investors ahead of what is likely to be a contentious annual general meeting (AGM) on Apr 26.

Quarz is rallying unitholders of Sabana Reit to withhold their endorsement of former Credit Suisse trader Chan Wai Kheong as an independent director; refuse its manager the mandate to issue new units; and put a stop to its distribution reinvestment plan (DRP).

Mapletree Commercial Trust: Mapletree Commercial Trust (MCT) : N2IU 0% on Wednesday (Apr 20) reported a 3.4 per cent decline in distribution per unit (DPU) to S$0.0514 for the half-year ended Mar 31, down from S$0.0532 a year earlier.

Gross revenue was down 1.8 per cent to S$255.8 million for the half-year period, from S$260.3 million the year prior.

Keppel Reit: Keppel real estate investment trust (Reit) posted a 4.3 per cent increase in its first-quarter distributable income from operations to S$53.8 million, from S$51.6 million a year earlier.

In its Q1 business update on Wednesday (Apr 20), the Reit's manager attributed the increase in distributable income mainly to the acquisition of Keppel Bay Tower in May last year.

Singtel: Mainboard-Listed telco Singtel : Z74 0%said on Wednesday (Apr 20) that it has successfully priced its first digital sustainability-linked bond in partnership with UOB and private markets platform ADDX.

The US$100 million 5-year digital sustainability-linked bond (SLB) will be drawn down under Singtel Group Treasury’s existing S$10 billion Euro Medium Term Note Programme and is guaranteed by Singtel. The industry has been one of the biggest beneficiaries from the world’s efforts to emerge from the pandemic. The trillions of dollars poured into recovery packages have ignited demand for commodities like iron ore and copper, driving prices sharply higher and sending inflation pressures rippling through the global economy.
\n
Wednesday’s results are also the first period under the leadership of new Chief Executive Officer Jakob Stausholm, who was appointed after Jean-Sebastien Jacques left the company because of a backlash over Rio’s destruction of an ancient Aboriginal site last year. The surge in commodity prices means the new boss comes in on a high note for Rio, even as the company grapples with a slew of production setbacks that have dogged its operations in recent years.
\n
Disruptions caused by Covid, and especially the company’s ability to move workers to its sites, added to existing problems in the first half, especially around the development of a copper project in Mongolia and at its key profit-driving iron ore mines in Western Australia. Rio’s copper business has also seen production fall as Covid takes its toll.
\n
“In the first half we experienced too much operation instability. We have to sharpen the consistency of our performance,” the CEO said on a media call. “While today’s results clearly demonstrate the underlying quality of our asset base, our operational performance clearly is not where it has been in the past or where we want it to be.”
\n
Stausholm also sounded a cautious note on the outlook for commodities demand in top consumer China.
\n
“The long-term potential for China is still intact but we probably have seen a non-sustainable high level of industrial development in some of the months in the first half of this year,” he said on a call with reporters.
\n
Rio’s shares slipped 0.6% in London, in line with a wider decline among most of its peers.
\n
The company reported first-half underlying earnings more than doubled to $12.2 billion from the same period last year as prices for iron ore and copper surged. The half-year payout -- which includes a special dividend of $3 billion -- is more than the mining giant returned to shareholders for the whole of 2020 and higher than analysts forecast.
\n
While Rio’s paying out record amounts to shareholders, the company signaled this week it’s also keen to invest in growing production in key commodities -- particularly those that will benefit from the world’s shift toward green energy.
\n
The company announced Tuesday it plans to spend $2.4 billion building a lithium mine in Serbia. While it’s the first big move by a mining major into lithium, used in rechargeable batteries, the investment reflects an ongoing push by the world’s biggest mining companies into “future facing” commodities like battery metals or fertilizer, at the same time that the industry is moving to get out of fossil fuels.
\n
“Rio appears to be shifting from austerity and capital returns to more of a focus on growth,” Jefferies analyst Christopher LaFemina wrote in a note. “While Rio had some operational issues in the period, the big picture here is that these are stellar financial results.”
","source":"lsy1612507957220","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Rio Tinto Pays $9.1 Billion Dividend as Profit Hits Record
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nRio Tinto Pays $9.1 Billion Dividend as Profit Hits Record\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-29 10:30 GMT+8 Bloomberg\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
(Bloomberg) -- Rio Tinto Group, the world’s biggest iron ore miner, reported its highest-ever interim profit and will pay $9.1 billion in dividends as the company and its global rivals cash in on this...
\n\nSource Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"RIO":"力拓"},"source_url":"https://finance.yahoo.com/news/rio-tinto-pays-9-1-063339102.html","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1142598506","content_text":"(Bloomberg) -- Rio Tinto Group, the world’s biggest iron ore miner, reported its highest-ever interim profit and will pay $9.1 billion in dividends as the company and its global rivals cash in on this year’s commodities rally.\nRio is the first of the majors to post earnings, kicking off a reporting season that’s expected to see record results across the board. Revenue from the credits only totaled $354 million.\n“Tesla impressed with its numbers, as most of its revenue came from vehicle sales,” Jesse Cohen, senior analyst at Investing.com, said.\nCarmaker Stellantis expects to achieve its European carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions targets this year without environmental credits bought from Tesla.\nTesla said it said it has delayed the launch of the Semi truck program to 2022 to focus on starting factories and due to limited availability of battery cells and other parts this year.\nBut the company’s new 4680 batteries are not ready for volume production; executives said it was difficult to predict when technological challenges would be resolved.\nIn an aside, Musk said he “most likely will not be on earnings calls” going forward to discuss financial results with investors and analysts. These calls have been a colorful quarterly ritual Musk has used for discourses on Tesla technology, or to fire back at rivals or critics.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1456,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":809318443,"gmtCreate":1627347856482,"gmtModify":1703488024524,"author":{"id":"3582000511223755","authorId":"3582000511223755","name":"Patrula","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e998c6729f24d01c9ba732e80da3632c","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582000511223755","idStr":"3582000511223755"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"//@Patrula: Thats great. This could mark the start of perhaps a 10% correction in the major averages. The next trend change is anticipated for late October, which could be the start of a year-end rally. We want to pay closer attention to the advance-decline numbers and price action as we approach Aug. 2.
\n
Sentiment
\n
No discussion about the stock market would be complete without some discussion of sentiment. There are plenty of \"signs\" of the stock market being out over its skis.
\n
I see a number of market letters and commentary from fellow technical analysts and they are all bullish. I get emails from Real Money subscribers asking about this stock or that stock and I have two observations:
\n
1. The names they are asking about seem to be more speculative in nature. I cannot remember the last time someone emailed me about a boring utility stock.
\n
2. The second thing that has struck me about the emails is the failure to recognize risk. Everyone wants to know the next highest price target but they never ask about where to move a stop up.
\n
Sentiment is not a precise indicator and much of it is anecdotal in nature and hard to quantify. The anticipated Robinhood IPO could mark a turning point.
\n
Bottom-Line Strategy
\n
The stock market has given us some incredible returns in the past year or two but there are some warning signs developing and traders need to start leaning in the other direction.
\n
Consider adding to commodity plays as they could be the outperformers of the third quarter.
\n
Consider becoming a scale-up profit taker. Continue to raise your stop protection to lock in more gains. Pay closer attention to where in the range prices are closing. Highs are typically made when prices close near the high of the day.Is the On-Balance-Volume line weakening as volume increases on days when the market or your favorite stock declines?
\n
Pay closer attention to the news and watch for stocks and the market to decline on bullish news -- this tells us that the news has been discounted.
","source":"lsy1610613172068","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Second-Half 2021: Market Forecasts, Thoughts and Observations
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nSecond-Half 2021: Market Forecasts, Thoughts and Observations\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-04 09:31 GMT+8 The Street\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The stock market has given us some incredible returns in the past year or two but there are some warning signs developing -- and one key date to keep an eye on.\n\nThe stock market, commodity markets ...
\n\nSource Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{".IXIC":"NASDAQ Composite","SPY":"标普500ETF",".DJI":"道琼斯",".SPX":"S&P 500 Index"},"source_url":"https://realmoney.thestreet.com/investing/stocks/second-half-2021-market-forecasts-thoughts-and-observations-15702152?puc=yahoo&cm_ven=YAHOO","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1192425829","content_text":"The stock market has given us some incredible returns in the past year or two but there are some warning signs developing -- and one key date to keep an eye on.\n\nThe stock market, commodity markets and fixed-income markets have been on some wild rides the past 18 months. The trading volume has diminished since March 2020 and the weekly On-Balance-Volume line has been stuck in a sideways trend for the past 12 months. The 12-week price momentum study in the bottom panel shows lower highs being made the past year. This is a significant bearish divergence.\nIndustrials\nIn this daily bar chart of the (XLI) , the Industrial sector ETF, below, we can see a weakening picture. Prices have slipped below the cresting 50-day moving average line. The On-Balance-Volume line has weakened the past two months and the MACD oscillator is below the zero line in sell territory.\nBonds\nIn this daily Point and Figure chart of the (TLT) , the iShares 20+ year Treasury Bond ETF, below, we can see a potential upside price target in the $165 area.\nU.S. Dollar\nIn this daily Japanese candlestick chart of the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) we can see that prices have stopped short of a test of its late March/early April highs. DXY could make a slow drift downward to retest its May lows.\nMark Your Calendars\nA technical service that I have been using since the mid-1990s (www.pfr.com) is anticipating a large-scale \"trend change\" on or about Aug. 2 and this bears watching. This could mark the start of perhaps a 10% correction in the major averages. The next trend change is anticipated for late October, which could be the start of a year-end rally. We want to pay closer attention to the advance-decline numbers and price action as we approach Aug. 2.\nSentiment\nNo discussion about the stock market would be complete without some discussion of sentiment. There are plenty of \"signs\" of the stock market being out over its skis.\nI see a number of market letters and commentary from fellow technical analysts and they are all bullish. I get emails from Real Money subscribers asking about this stock or that stock and I have two observations:\n1. The names they are asking about seem to be more speculative in nature. I cannot remember the last time someone emailed me about a boring utility stock.\n2. The second thing that has struck me about the emails is the failure to recognize risk. Everyone wants to know the next highest price target but they never ask about where to move a stop up.\nSentiment is not a precise indicator and much of it is anecdotal in nature and hard to quantify. The anticipated Robinhood IPO could mark a turning point.\nBottom-Line Strategy\nThe stock market has given us some incredible returns in the past year or two but there are some warning signs developing and traders need to start leaning in the other direction.\nConsider adding to commodity plays as they could be the outperformers of the third quarter.\nConsider becoming a scale-up profit taker. Continue to raise your stop protection to lock in more gains. Pay closer attention to where in the range prices are closing. Highs are typically made when prices close near the high of the day.Is the On-Balance-Volume line weakening as volume increases on days when the market or your favorite stock declines?\nPay closer attention to the news and watch for stocks and the market to decline on bullish news -- this tells us that the news has been discounted.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".DJI":0.9,".SPX":0.9,".IXIC":0.9,"SPY":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1736,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":155045745,"gmtCreate":1625365835287,"gmtModify":1703740805943,"author":{"id":"3582000511223755","authorId":"3582000511223755","name":"Patrula","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e998c6729f24d01c9ba732e80da3632c","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582000511223755","authorIdStr":"3582000511223755"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Thanks ","listText":"Thanks ","text":"Thanks","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":5,"repostSize":1,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/155045745","repostId":"1192425829","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1192425829","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625362308,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1192425829?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-04 09:31","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Second-Half 2021: Market Forecasts, Thoughts and Observations","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1192425829","media":"The Street","summary":"The stock market has given us some incredible returns in the past year or two but there are some war","content":"
\n The stock market has given us some incredible returns in the past year or two but there are some warning signs developing -- and one key date to keep an eye on.\n
\n
The stock market, commodity markets and fixed-income markets have been on some wild rides the past 18 months.
