Adjusted for stock compensation, among other things, earnings were $1.04 a share. Revenue rose 68% to $6.5 billion.
\n
Analysts had forecast adjusted earnings of $1.01 a share on revenue of $6.3 billion.
\n
Nvidia slightly topped expectations for its data center and videogame businesses. The company reported second-quarter data-center revenue rose 35% to $2.4 billion, from a year ago, as videogame revenue grew 85% to $3.1 billion; analysts had expected revenue of $2.3 billion, and $3 billion respectively. The company’s closely watched quarterly cryptocurrency-mining-chip sales arrived well below the finance chief’s forecast.
\n
Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress said in written remarks that the data-center growth was a result of more companies adopting Ampere-based server chips, which the company began selling last year. Hyperscale customers contributed to sequential growth from the first quarter, Kress said.
\n
Videogame-revenue growth was driven by higher sales of graphics processors, and its chips designed for Nintendo‘s mobile Switch console, Kress said. Though the company is unable to determine whether its graphics chips are used by gamers or cryptocurrency miners, Kress said 80% of the graphics chips shipped had their mining capabilities limited.
\n
Nvidia reported cryptocurrency-chip revenue of $266 million, well below Kress’ $400 million forecast. The company includes crypto-mining chips in its OEM segment, which reported overall revenue of $409 million.
\n
Investors have followed Nvidia’s cryptocurrency sales closely because a drop in prices several years ago led to roughly four quarters of declining revenue for the company. Declining sales may prove a relief to some investors who were concerned the company’s success in recent quarters resulted from soaring cryptocurrency prices.
\n
The chip maker said it expected third-quarter revenue of roughly $6.8 billion, and didn’t issue an adjusted earnings-per-share forecast. burnishing","content":"
LAS VEGAS, Sept 13 (Reuters) - Barrick Gold Corp Chief Executive Mark Bristow spent years burnishing his reputation as an aggressive dealmaker, but he says now he is focused on new mines that he hopes will boost profit and the company's sagging stock price.
\n
The strategy eschews the acquisition appetite that made Barrick what it is today and instead pins the company's growth on exploration projects in Egypt, Nevada, Guyana and elsewhere.
\n
\"The very foundation of our future has to be our geologists and where we are investing,\" Bristow told Reuters on the sidelines of the MINExpo conference in Las Vegas, the quadrennial gathering of industry executives and suppliers. \"Organic growth is always a winner when it comes to value.\"
\n
Barrick's shares have lagged rival Newmont Corp and the S&P 500 this year, putting pressure on Bristow and his management team. Takeda has been working for almost 10 years on the shot, which is now in the \"last stage,\" Weber said.\nThe company has imported some 50 million doses of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine into Japan and has a license to manufacture Novavax Inc's vaccine, which is still undergoing trials.\nJapan's government has agreed to buy another 50 million Moderna shots, to be delivered next year, along with 150 million Novavax doses.\nAbout 1.6 million Moderna doses were recalled in Japan this month after the discovery of small metal contaminants in some vials, a problem traced back to a production line in Spain.\nWeber said such problems sometimes occur in pharma manufacturing, brushing off the suggestion it was caused by companies rushing to bring vaccines to market.\nWith some of its main sellers due to lose patent protection in the coming years, Takeda is betting heavily on a pipeline of more than 10 drugs in late-stage development. One of those, a blood cancer treatment known as Pevonedistat, fell out of the running this month after poor trial results.\n\"We don't rely on one product in our pipeline, or two, when we have 40 in clinical stage,\" Weber said.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"NVAX":0.9,"TAK":0.9,"MRNA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":4709,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":813361564,"gmtCreate":1630133203858,"gmtModify":1676530232941,"author":{"id":"3583840462801736","authorId":"3583840462801736","name":"yayaSG","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3583840462801736","idStr":"3583840462801736"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"$E-home Service(EJH)$slowly going up ","listText":"$E-home Service(EJH)$slowly going up ","text":"$E-home Service(EJH)$slowly going up","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/879ca139238fe6dc5377d9a956ce3acb","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/813361564","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":4110,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":831231219,"gmtCreate":1629329203331,"gmtModify":1676530002149,"author":{"id":"3583840462801736","authorId":"3583840462801736","name":"yayaSG","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3583840462801736","idStr":"3583840462801736"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"Good","listText":"Good","text":"Good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/831231219","repostId":"1121203256","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1121203256","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1629326730,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1121203256?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-08-19 06:45","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Nvidia Stock Is Surging on Strong Earnings.
