The Russell 1000 tracks large-capitalization stocks—and in order to be included in the latest index reconstitution, stocks had to have market caps of at least $7.3 billion on May 7.
\n
As one of the stocks favored by retail traders this year, GameStop (ticker: GME) met that threshold because it had an $11.2 billion market cap by the deadline, while AMC Entertainment(AMC) didn’t. That said, AMC has rocketed higher since May 7, multiplying by more than five times and surpassing GameStop’s market value—hitting a recent $27 billion compared to GameStop’s $15 billion.
\n
It may seem counterintuitive, but the Russell 1000 “promotion” may actually be bad for GameStop’s stock,as Barron’s explained earlier this month.Funds that track the small-capRussell 2000will have to sell GameStop shares on June 28, and funds that track the Russell 1000 will have to buy them. Three times as much money is invested in funds that track the Russell 1000, but GameStop’s overall weight in that index will be much lower than it has been in the Russell 2000. In the Russell 2000, GameStop made up about half a percentage point of the index, while it will be less than 0.1% of the Russell 1000. GameStop will look tiny next to behemoths like Apple(AAPL).
\n
Experts like Jefferies strategist Steven DeSanctis expect that there will be net selling in GameStop of about 5 million shares, or about half of the stock’s recent average daily volume, after the rebalancing.
\n
Meanwhile, AMC will be the largest member of the Russell 2000 by far—more than three times as large as its nearest competitor as of last week. The S&P 500 (SPX) and NASDAQ 100 (NDX) have declined 23.3% and over 31% year-to-date, respectively. While many tech stocks have been clobbered this year, Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) stock has shown some amount of resilience and is down 15% year-to-date. Most Wall Street analysts remain bullish about the tech giant based on its strong track record, continued innovation, and progress into new growth areas like fintech.Apple is Well-Positioned for Long-Term GrowthApple’s Q3 Fiscal 2022 (ended June 30, 2022) revenue increased 1.9% to nearly $83 billion, but earnings per share fell 8% to $1.20. That said, the company managed to top analysts’ expectations for both key metrics. While Apple cautioned investors about near-term pressures, including currency headwinds and supply chain woes, it expects revenue growth to accelerate in the September quarter compared to the June quarter.Meanwhile, Apple is diversifying its manufacturing footprint amid production disruptions in China. Apple recently announced that it would be manufacturing the iPhone 14 in India. The company has been manufacturing old models of iPhones in India but this time it is going ahead with the production of a newly launched device. The move is expected to boost Apple’s prospects in a lucrative market like India.Additionally, Apple continues to deepen customer engagement with its services business, which includes sales from Applecare, advertising, cloud, payment, and other services. Note that the company’s services business is more profitable than its products segment. The company has been advancing in the attractive financial services market through solutions like Apple Pay and Apple Wallet.Back in June, Apple announced that it will launch a buy now, pay later service called Apple Pay Later. The facility will allow customers to split their purchase into four equal payments that can be spread over six weeks. Earlier this year, Apple rolled out its Tap to Pay on iPhone feature that enables contactless payments. Is Apple a Buy or Sell Now?In a recent research note to investors, Wedbush Securities analyst Daniel Ives noted that the iPhone 14 is likely witnessing “brisk sales” as wait times are getting longer. The analyst stated, “Wait times on many iPhone Pro 14 models are now 4-6 weeks for Apple customers and lengthening into November.” Ives stated that the overall demand for Pro is 8% to 10% ahead of his expectations. The analyst also sees strong sales in China, mainly via e-commerce channels. He expects China’s business to be a vital factor in Apple’s growth story and estimates that nearly 30% of iPhone customers in China “are in the window of an upgrade opportunity.”Despite macro pressures, Ives believes that Apple’s growth story “remains a bright spot in the tech landscape with darker clouds abound in many pockets of consumer tech.” Ives reiterated a Buy rating on AAPL stock with a price target of $220.All in all, Apple scores the Street’s Strong Buy consensus rating based on 23 Buys, four Holds, and one Sell rating. The average Apple price target of $183.45 suggests nearly 22% upside potential from current levels.ConclusionDespite macro pressures, Apple seems to be an attractive pick for the long haul based on strengths like continued innovation, solid growth potential for the services business, and strong execution.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AAPL":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":758,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9932631536,"gmtCreate":1662938427125,"gmtModify":1676537164740,"author":{"id":"3586941861951066","authorId":"3586941861951066","name":"EHG","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/28e4734e50f795c3218330cbb6c3e9a0","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3586941861951066","idStr":"3586941861951066"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like ","listText":"Like ","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":26,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9932631536","repostId":"1168017166","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1168017166","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1662861884,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1168017166?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-09-11 10:04","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Disney Boss Rejects Dan Loeb’s Calls to Spin off ESPN","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1168017166","media":"Financial Times","summary":"Bob Chapek, Walt Disney chief executive, has rejected calls by activist investor Dan Loeb to sell or","content":"
\n
Bob Chapek, Walt Disney chief executive, has rejected calls by activist investor Dan Loeb to sell or spin off the ESPN sports television network, vowing to restore the business to its onetime status ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"lsy1580170736413","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; He characterised the conversations as “very collaborative, non-antagonistic and collegial”, including around Loeb’s recommendations to change the composition of the Disney board. He defended the board, saying that the average tenure is four years and has a broad “range of skillsets”.But he added: “We’re so consistent with Dan’s thinking that everything he’s talked about are either things we have considered in the past or are considering for the future.”Loeb has also called on Disney to purchase Comcast’s 33 per cent stake in the Hulu streaming service earlier than January 2024, when Disney has the option to purchase the remaining stake. Some analysts on Wall Street are also calling for Disney to settle the Hulu ownership soon.Chapek said he would “love” to settle the matter sooner but that Comcast has seemed reluctant.“We have talked to them numerous times over the past year-plus,” he said. “If that were in the cards we would love to do that, but it takes two to tango.” He noted that market sentiment has changed significantly since the agreement was struck, when investors were more bullish on streaming.Chapek spoke on the sidelines of the annual D23 conference in Anaheim, California, where the company revealed its streaming and theatrical slate to thousands of Disney fans. Disney showed off trailers of two highly anticipated films coming this autumn, the Black Panther sequel Wakanda Forever and Avatar: The Way of Water. It also previewed a run of original series on Disney Plus, including the Star Wars prequel Andor and the Marvel series Secret Invasion.Chapek said the autumn slate represented the end of a Covid-induced production bottleneck. “This is our new steady state (of production),” he said, saying that both the pace of production and the size of its content budget — currently about $30bn — would remain level.Disney has continued to add new customers to its streaming services this year, and by some measures its overall streaming operations have surpassed Netflix in subscribers. But Netflix’s revelation that it has lost more than 1mn subscribers this year has cast a pall over the entire streaming business, with investors growing concerned over high content spending and clamouring for a clear path to profitability.Disney’s theme park business is also recovering strongly despite the closure of parks in China, analysts said. But shares are down 26.5 per cent this year, compared to a decline of 15.2 per cent for the S&P 500.Chapek said Disney has “commercial momentum that is enviable” both in its content and theme parks businesses, but was suffering from investor “malaise” around streaming due to Netflix’s problems.“For a long time we benefited from being just like Netflix because we were a streaming company,” he said. “It’s not unexpected that we would get painted with the same brush [but] we’re not the same company.”","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"DIS":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":385,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9918958299,"gmtCreate":1664319407611,"gmtModify":1676537430081,"author":{"id":"3586941861951066","authorId":"3586941861951066","name":"EHG","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/28e4734e50f795c3218330cbb6c3e9a0","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3586941861951066","idStr":"3586941861951066"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like ","listText":"Like ","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":20,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9918958299","repostId":"2270249615","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2270249615","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1664290462,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2270249615?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-09-27 22:54","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Celsius CEO Steps Down Amid Bankruptcy Proceedings","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2270249615","media":"Reuters","summary":"(Reuters) - Celsius Network said on Tuesday Chief Executive Officer Alex Mashinsky has decided to st","content":"

(Reuters) - Celsius Network said on Tuesday Chief Executive Officer Alex Mashinsky has decided to step down and the bankrupt crypto lender appointed finance chief Chris Ferraro as its interim CEO.

Before Celsius, Ferraro spent nearly 18 years at JPMorgan Chase & Co .

"I regret that my continued role as CEO has become an increasing distraction, and I am very sorry about the difficult financial circumstances members of our community are facing," Mashinsky said in a statement.

Mashinsky chose to step down at a time the company is seeking protection from creditors.

Celsius, based in Hoboken, New Jersey, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on July 13, one month after freezing withdrawals and transfers for its 1.7 million customers because of "extreme" market conditions and listing a $1.19 billion deficit on its balance sheet.

Crypto lenders boomed during the COVID-19 pandemic, drawing depositors with high interest rates and easy access to loans rarely offered by traditional banks. Investors want to know as prices struggle to regain their footing after the big crash.This is a loaded question depending on the type of crypto investor you are, however.Crypto will not likely return to its 2021 peak, but that doesn't mean the asset class is doomed.This year’s crypto market crash was the worst in the short history of the asset class. That much is true, simply given how many more people were affected in the wake of it as opposed to previous crypto crashes. But is crypto dead as a result? The answer is a bit loaded. What is certain, though, is that a fundamental change will be occurring in the crypto market for years to come.The past two years have been great for crypto’s exposure to the mainstream. At this point, everybody and their mother has at least heard of Bitcoin (BTC-USD). Last fall, countless guides cropped up in response to this, telling people how to navigate crypto questions from family members over the holidays. Celebrities started flocking to non-fungible tokens (NFTs) through Bored Ape Yacht Club as well.Throughout 2021, the market capitalization of crypto ebbed and flowed. However, investors can see exactly the point when crypto hit the mainstream via Dogecoin‘s (DOGE-USD) bull run early that year. At that point, the global crypto market cap shattered through the $1 trillion mark. It then proceeded to climb north of $2 trillion by the end of 2021, aided by BTC’s $67,000 all-time high, the booming success of play-to-earn blockchain games, the foray of NFTs into mainstream art and the speculative wonders of pupcoins like Doge and Shiba Inu (SHIB-USD).Indeed, crypto seemed like an unstoppable force not too long ago. But there’s a major fault line in the industry which was oft overlooked as the asset class continued to make investors rich. Crypto was simply not made to exist like it did during the 2021 gravy train.Crypto: Made for Transactions, Not GainsWhen Satoshi Nakamoto introduced Bitcoin to the world in 2008, the pseudonymous programmer likely didn’t envision anything like we saw at the height of the crypto bull market. BTC priced in at well over $67,000 apiece and the “hodl” philosophy — buy the dip and never sell — took over. Now, Bitcoin whales collectively own nearly 46% of the coin’s total supply.This is just not what Bitcoin was meant to be, however. Sure, the price of BTC was expected to go up some, but that was originally only expected to be through the growth of its practical use cases. At its core, BTC was designed as a mode of transaction for the unbanked. Bitcoin is an alternative to fiat, allowing users to operate outside of the control of central banks.Of course, Bitcoin’s not the only crypto like this. Although made as a joke, Dogecoin operates to the same exact ends. Privacy coins like Monero (XMR-USD) and Zcash (ZEC-USD) do the same thing as well, with the added goal of making these transactions completely anonymous.Ethereum (ETH-USD), the second-largest currency which saw its own price renaissance last year, operates on a different motive. However, ETH is not hell-bent on gains either. Vitalik Buterin and the seven other Ethereum cofounders launched the project with the intention of making a blockchain with a built-in programming language. This created an ecosystem of decentralized apps (dapps) which could be immutable and better-performing in contrast to the World Wide Web we know today.Projects Continue to Innovate After Market CrashContinuing down the list of top cryptos, investors will notice each project was built with a grand vision in mind — ones that never explicitly involve going up in price. Layer-1 projects like Cardano (ADA-USD), Solana (SOL-USD) and Polkadot (DOT-USD) are competitors to Ethereum, sharing the project’s dapp vision. Meanwhile, Tether (USDT-USD), Binance USD (BUSD-USD) and USD Coin (USDC-USD) can’t gain as stablecoins. The list goes on.So, is crypto dead in the wake of this recent crash? No, not from an innovation perspective.These projects aren’t phased by market volatility, because at the end of the day, they focus on grander visions. The trap investors get caught in when moving from stocks to crypto is believing that crypto developers care about coin prices the same way traditional companies concern themselves with shareholders and stock prices. This isn’t the case. In fact, it’s quite common for projects to forbid talking about price speculation on official channels.Developers haven’t ceased innovating since the crypto crash. Investors are still seeing some massive rollouts and upgrades. Ethereum is on the verge of its biggest upgrade ever and Cardano is soon to follow with its own hard fork. Ripple (XRP-USD) is also working closely with banks on implementing a new worldwide banking communications standard.Is Crypto Dead? To a Certain Demographic, Yes.The question “Is crypto dead?” comes down to simple framing. Are you an investor looking to 10x your investment on some speculative token with no practical use cases? Are you buying an art NFT and banking on some celebrity to pick up their own from the same collection? If so, the answer to the “dead” question is probably yes.The market crash is sending crypto into capitulation and the chances we see something like 2021 happening again are not very high. Put simply, the industry had caught lightning in a jar. Prices were already on the rise, more investors than ever were participating in the market, the pandemic had created extremely favorable macroeconomic conditions and — most importantly — there were no regulations.Nearly every country is regulating crypto now, especially the United States. The U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission is massively clamping down on projects, particularly in the wake of the crash. Moving forward, investigations and legal challenges could hamper even the most innovative projects in the space. There’s not much room, then, for the more speculative plays to crop up and immediately soar like before.Crypto investing isn’t completely dead. But it is certainly much less favorable to those only interested in speculative investing and the potential for massive gains. The recent crash brought an end to yet another speculative asset bubble; first there was the Dotcom bubble, then the housing bubble and now here we are. Obviously, web stocks didn’t disappear entirely, nor did housing. But they haven’t looked anything like they did at their peak hype. That means a good portion of their net worth should be allocated to low-risk assets like bonds and cash, while a smaller portion should be invested in stocks. That said, buying individual stocks may be too risky or require too much research for some retirees.Fortunately, there is another option. Index funds are a great way to gain exposure to the stock market while minimizing the risk and work involved. In fact, Warren Buffett once told Vanguard founder Jack Bogle that index funds are \"the most sensible equity investment for the great majority of investors.\"With that in mind, these index funds could make retirees richer over the next decade.1. Vanguard S&P 500 ETFThe Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) tracks the S&P 500, an index containing 500 of the largest U.S. companies that covers approximately 80% of the market capitalization of all publicly traded companies in the U.S. To that end, the S&P 500 is often viewed as a benchmark for the entire U.S. stock market.Sector breakdown: The S&P 500 includes companies from all 11 market sectors, though five sectors account for 72% of its total weight: Information technology (27.3%), healthcare (14.1%), consumer discretionary (11.4%), financials (10.9%), and communications services (8.4%). Its three largest holdings are Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon.Past performance: The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF has generated a total return of nearly 220% over the last decade, which is equivalent to an annualized return of 12.3%. At that pace, an initial investment of $10,000 would grow into $31,900 over the next decade.Beyond its broad scope, the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF is a particularly compelling investment for two other reasons. First, the S&P 500 has recovered from every past downturn, and the index generated a positive return 94.1% of the time over all 10-year periods between 1926 and 2017. Second, it bears an expense ratio of just 0.03%, meaning investors would pay $3 per year on a $10,000 portfolio.2. Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETFThe Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF (VIG) is designed to track the S&P U.S. Dividend Growers Index, which includes 289 U.S. companies that have increased their dividend payments each year for at least 10 consecutive years.Sector breakdown: The S&P U.S. Dividend Growers Index includes companies from 10 of the 11 market sectors (real estate is the one exclusion), and the top five sectors account for 80% of its total weight: Information technology (23.4%), healthcare (15.6%), financials (14.7%), consumer staples (13.6%), and industrials (13.3%). Its three largest holdings are UnitedHealth Group, Microsoft, and Johnson & Johnson.Past performance: The Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF has generated a total return of nearly 193% over the last decade, which is equivalent to an annualized return of 11.3%. At that pace, an initial investment of $10,000 would grow into $29,100 over the next decade.Beyond its broad scope, the Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF is a compelling investment for two other reasons. First, companies that consistently generate enough cash to raise their dividend tend to have strong fundamentals, and that often coincides with share price stability during periods of market volatility. In fact, the Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF is down only 5.6% over the past year, while the broader S&P 500 has fallen 10.1%. Second, the ETF bears an expense ratio of 0.06%, meaning investors would pay just $6 per year on a $10,000 portfolio.As a final thought, retirees should keep at least two years' worth of cash on hand to cover living expenses, though some experts recommend a five-year cash cushion. Additionally, any money retirees will need in the next decade should not be invested in the stock market.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"VIG":0.9,"VOO":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":622,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9936744843,"gmtCreate":1662850555083,"gmtModify":1676537148495,"author":{"id":"3586941861951066","authorId":"3586941861951066","name":"EHG","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/28e4734e50f795c3218330cbb6c3e9a0","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3586941861951066","idStr":"3586941861951066"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like ","listText":"Like ","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":13,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9936744843","repostId":"2266061608","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":444,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9936635993,"gmtCreate":1662765856012,"gmtModify":1676537134262,"author":{"id":"3586941861951066","authorId":"3586941861951066","name":"EHG","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/28e4734e50f795c3218330cbb6c3e9a0","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3586941861951066","idStr":"3586941861951066"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like ","listText":"Like ","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":9,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9936635993","repostId":"1157414611","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1157414611","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1662736682,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1157414611?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-09-09 23:18","market":"us","language":"en","title":"U.S. Stocks Extended Their Gains in Morning Trading; What follows are four widely held stocks that billionaire money managers dumped during the first quarter.Image source: Getty Images.ShopifyTo begin with, cloud-based e-commerce platform Shopify was given a sizable reduction by Stephen Mandel of Lone Pine Capital. Entering 2022, Mandel's fund held a greater than 1% stake in Shopify's outstanding shares. But following the sale of more than 355,000 shares during the first quarter, Lone Pine's stake is down to about 0.91%.The likeliest reason for Mandel paring down one of Lone Pine's core positions is the expectation that a recession will occur in the United States. With first-quarter U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) retracing 1.4%, there's even a possibility we're already in a recession and just don't (officially) know it.Since Shopify's operating model is primarily geared to help small businesses grow, and small businesses might not be profitable or time-tested, there's some level of concern that a key component of Shopify's growth could struggle for however long a U.S. economic slowdown/recession lasts.The other possible reason for Mandel reducing Lone Pine's stake in Shopify is valuation. The company has consistently traded at a nosebleed premium to its sales and profit potential since the pandemic began. On one hand, this made sense given the e-commerce solutions the company provides. With various lockdowns throughout the U.S. and internationally, consumers turned to online retail solutions en masse in 2020.On the other hand, with inflation soaring and access to capital becoming pricier as lending rates rise, growth prospects for small businesses appear muted. Even with Shopify nearly 80% below its all-time high, set just six months ago, the company still trades at 6 times Wall Street's forecast sales in 2022 and at a triple-digit projected price-to-earnings ratio.While I do believe a premium is warranted for Shopify's impressive growth rate, it could be a bumpy ride until the Fed's monetary tightening cycle is complete.Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Image source: The Motley Fool.Berkshire HathawayAnother widely held stock that was given the partial heave-ho in the first quarter by a billionaire money manager is conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway. Jim Simons of Renaissance Technologies sold 868,800 Class B shares (BRK.B), which amounted to a 92% reduction in his fund's stake, relative to where things stood on Dec. 31, 2021.The most logical reason to nearly exit this position in Berkshire probably has to do with signs of economic weakness in the United States. As noted, U.S. GDP went backward in the first quarter, and a number of recent big-box retailer reports have shown inventory levels are rising and low-income consumers are feeling the pinch of inflation. Because Berkshire Hathaway's investment portfolio is packed with cyclical businesses, shares of the company are at risk of coming under some short-term pressure.However, it would be foolish (with a small 'f') to overlook Buffett's long-term track record. Since taking over as CEO in 1965, he's led the company's Class A shares (BRK.A) to an average annual return of 20.1%, which works out to 3,641,613%, in aggregate, over 57 years. By acquiring and investing in time-tested businesses, and hanging on to those investments for long periods, Buffett has demonstrated how powerful time and patience can be.What's more, Buffett's company is on pace to collect more than $6 billion in dividend income over the next 12 months. Companies that pay a dividend are almost always profitable and time-tested. They also have a history of vastly outperforming stocks that don't pay a dividend.In other words, Simons' fund may eventually regret selling most of its stake in Berkshire Hathaway.Image source: Getty Images.CrowdStrike HoldingsCybersecurity stock CrowdStrike Holdings is yet another widely held stock that was on one billionaire's sell list in the first quarter. Philippe Laffont of Coatue Management sold nearly 485,000 shares, equating to 44% of Coatue's stake entering 2022.The probable reason for Laffont to reduce his fund's position in CrowdStrike is valuation. Similar to Shopify, CrowdStrike has traded at a nosebleed valuation relative to sales and profits since the pandemic began.As a premier provider of end-user security, it found itself in the right place at the right time when the pandemic hit and people were forced to lean on the internet and cloud more than ever before. But even after a 50% retracement in its shares, CrowdStrike is still valued at 16 times Wall Street's sales estimate for the company in 2022, and north of 100 times analysts' profit projection.Although CrowdStrike is pricey, it does have two catalysts working in its favor. First, cybersecurity has evolved into a basic necessity over the past two decades. No matter how poorly the U.S. economy is performing, businesses of all sizes need protection. Because hackers and robots don't take a day off from trying to steal data, demand for cybersecurity solutions remains elevated.The other buy-side catalyst is the company's cloud-native platform, known as Falcon. This platform oversees about a trillion events daily and leans on artificial intelligence to become more efficient at recognizing and responding to potential threats over time. A gross retention rate of 98% suggests that businesses have come to trust CrowdStrike's solutions.Charging a Tesla Model S. Image source: Tesla.TeslaLastly, at least one billionaire was hitting the brakes on electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Tesla. Israel Englander of Millennium Management sold 551,827 shares of Tesla during the first quarter, which was just shy of half of his fund's stake entering the year.Why sell Tesla? The most obvious reason would be the expectation of production shortfalls and challenges in the coming quarters. Whereas most major automakers have reduced production due to supply shortages, Tesla has maintained a production pace that would allow the company to eclipse the psychologically important 1 million mark this year. However, with strict COVID-19 lockdowns in China, meeting previous production forecasts appears all but impossible now.Valuation has been a persistent concern, as well, for years. While traditional auto stocks are valued at single-digit price-to-earnings multiples, Tesla was valued as high as 15 times sales and more than 100 times forecast earnings earlier this year. Even now, with shares 47% below their all-time high, Tesla is still valued at a lofty 8 times Wall Street's forecast for sales and 54 times projected profits for 2022.On the other side of the coin, we have Tesla's competitive advantages, such as its mass production, as well as the range, power, and capacity provided by its batteries. First-mover advantages certainly count for something in next-big-thing industries, and it's hard to overlook the EV maker's market share lead in the U.S.However, CEO Elon Musk looks to be the real wild card for the company -- and it's never a good thing when the CEO is the focus. All the same, one analyst is confident that the stock will hit top gear and keep rising over the next decade.What Happened: Tesla stock will go from a market capitalization of a little over $1 trillion currently to $10 trillion by 2030, New Street Research analyst Pierre Ferragu said in a tweet. The analyst said the Tesla growth story is slowly taking hold and the company is on track to see unprecedented scale and capture 20% of the auto market.Ferragu, however, cautioned that his estimate is neither a forecast nor an investment recommendation, leaving it open to investors to decide for themselves.The analyst's 2030 look ahead assumes 20 million units of vehicle sales and an average selling price of $35,000, translating to vehicle sales of $700 billion. About $1.5 billion will likely come from insurance, $35 billion-$70 billion from full-self driving software and $250 billion from energy, with real AI providing option value.The total 2030 revenue will likely come in at $1 trillion, the analyst estimates. Applying a multiple of 8-10 times on estimated sales, the company's valuation will gallop to about $10 trillion, he added.Where Will This Leave Tesla Stock: Tesla's outstanding share count is currently at 1.03 billion. If the share count remains unchanged, the per-share value of Tesla would be around $9,710.Tesla detractors and skeptical investors may debate the credibility of Ferragu's model. Nevertheless, the company is poised to see superlative growth over the coming years. Tesla, according to many sell-side analysts, is not able to keep pace with the surging demand for its vehicles.It may now have found a solution with the two more Gigas, in Berlin and Texas, coming online. These three stocks have what it takes.Amazon(AMZN): The e-commerce giant's stock is at its lowest level since the 2008-09 financial crisis.Nvidia (NVDA): Hovering near its 52-week low, this leading chip stock is at fire sale prices right now.CrowdStrike(CRWD):The cybersecurity stock is sure to benefit once the current bear market ends.Source: eamesBot / ShutterstockWhile it can be difficult for investors to feel optimistic and willing to buy stocks during the current market volatility, the reality is that there are many great stocks on sale right now. Prices for growth stocks in particular have been beaten down this year, putting them at extremely attractive prices and valuations.Investors who can stomach the near-term volatility are likely to be rewarded long-term as markets rebound and the share prices of leading growth stocks rebound and ascend to new heights.While the market has pulled down all stocks this year on fears of inflation and a potential economic recession, the declines are not due to any fundamental problems at many leading companies. Here are three growth stocks to buy now before a possible recession hits.Amazon (AMZN)Following its recent 20-for-1 stock split, shares of e-commerce giant Amazon.com, Inc.(NASDAQ:AMZN) are currently trading at $105, their most affordable level since the 2008-09 financial crisis.AMZN stock is down nearly 40% year to date, putting it at fire sale prices. While the Seattle-based company is struggling with some short-term issues, long-term Amazon should continue delivering for shareholders.Problems weighing on AMZN stock include supply chain constraints, employee wage inflation, and a bet on electric vehicle maker Rivian(NASDAQ:RIVN) that led Amazon to take a $7.6 billion loss on the investment. The Rivian gamble resulted in Amazon reporting a net loss of $3.8 billion in its most recent quarter, pushing its share price down in the process. However, investors should keep in mind that over the past five years, Amazon has delivered a 110% return to shareholders. This stock is built to last.Nvidia (NVDA)Microchip and semiconductor company Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) is another great technology stock that is on sale right now. Investors with a long-term horizon can buy NVDA stock at $157, which is only slightly above its 52-week low of $153.28 and 55% below its 12-month high of $346.47.At these levels, Nvidia really is a screaming buy, especially given its increasingly dominant position in the chip and semiconductor space.The fall in the share price of Santa Clara, California-based Nvidia has more to do with negative investor sentiment and the broader decline in the entire stock market than Nvidia’s performance. Despite some temporary headwinds in the form of inflation and supply chains, Nvidia has continued to beat Wall Street expectations this year.In its most recent earnings print, Nvidia beat analyst consensus expectations for its revenue and earnings per share. Its total sales were up 46% year-over-year.However, NVDA stock fell after its earnings when the company provided lower forward guidance, saying video game sales are slowing. But don’t be fooled, Nvidia’s share price will come roaring back when the current bear market ends.CrowdStrike (CRWD)Cybersecurity company CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD) is not only a solid technology stock, it is also the right firm at the right time. This is because cybersecurity is front-and-center on the minds of government and corporate leaders, as well as investors. Major cyber attacks on leading companies such as Nvidia and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), as well as Russia - Ukraine war, have heightened awareness of the importance of cybersecurity. President Joe Biden has publicly urged corporate American to take the issue seriously.This is good news for CrowdStrike and its shareholders. It also helps to explain why CRWD stock is only down 19% year to date versus a 32% decline for the Nasdaq index on which the company’s shares trade. And at $160 per share, CrowdStrike’s stock is 46% below its 52-week high of $298.48.Going forward, the stock is sure to rebound and soar to new heights coming out of the current downturn as corporations and governments continue to invest heavily in cybersecurity.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"CRWD":0.9,"AMZN":0.9,"NVDA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":503,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
