CEO Elon Musk said that the firm's Cybertruck would be produced beginning in mid-2023.The Cybertruck's timeline has been reportedly delayed previously.Tesla was facing major supply problems at the end of May, Musk reported.Tesla(NASDAQ:TSLA) stock is on many investorsâ minds today after the automakerâs very well-known CEO, Elon Musk, said that it had chosen a final design for its upcoming Cybertruck. Moreover, according to Musk, the truck will be produced starting in the middle of next year.On a negative note, however, the CEO warned that two of the companyâs major factories were burning billions of dollars due to supply-chain issues.TSLA Stock: The Cybertruckâs Latest TimelineThe electric vehicleâs (EV) timeline has been postponed at least four times since Tesla introduced the concept in 2019. According toElektrek:âA significant part of the delay has been attributed to Tesla updating the design of the Cybertruck on several occasions.â As a result, Muskâs statement about the truckâs design being âlockedâ should be viewed as good news for TSLA stock owners.Importantly, however, the Cybertruck, even if itâs released next year, will face a significant amount of competition. Among the automakers that have already launched electric trucks areFord(NYSE:F), General Motors(NYSE:GM), and Nikola(NASDAQ:NKLA).Teslaâs Factories Are Hemorrhaging MoneyOn the other hand, Musk said, in a segment of an interview conducted in late May but released yesterday, that supply-chain issues, not competition, are the automakerâs major concern. He explained that two of the automakerâs recently launched factories are âlosing billions of dollars.âThe companyâs plant in Texas was only manufacturing a small ânumber of cars⊠partly because some components for its batteries were âstuckâ at a Chinese port,â Musk stated. The German plant was also being hurt by supply-chain bottlenecks. The CEO added that Tesla was having a very difficult time coping with anti-coronavirus measures that were implemented in Shanghai. On the positive side, however, Musk said he expected the problems to be resolved very quickly.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1147,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9041117344,"gmtCreate":1656027292788,"gmtModify":1676535751916,"author":{"id":"4089018853439370","authorId":"4089018853439370","name":"BrOoKe","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a8081ab75c39abcb57e6136431300155","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4089018853439370","idStr":"4089018853439370"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a last cycle.

Palantir saw one of the highest short unwinding amongst its peer group.

Palantir stock seems to be forming a bottom, and it may not have much downside potential from current levels.

Palantir Technologies Inc.âs (NYSE:PLTR) shares are down 70% over the past one year alone, and its long-term investors have been left holding the bag. The question that everyone is asking now is if Palantirâs shares have bottomed out or if its capitulation point is yet to come. Amidst the ongoing selloff and the ensuing confusion, there has been a positive development. Short interest in Palantir dropped by almost 19% in the last cycle. This suggests that the selling pressure is cooling down and that the stock may be in the process of forming a bottom. Letâs take a closer look to gain a better understanding of it all.

Shorting Subsides

For the uninitiated, short interest is basically the total number of short positions that are open and are yet to be covered. A sharp drop in the metric indicates that short-side market participants have actively wound up their positions as, perhaps, they feel the stock has become fairly valued and doesnât have much downside potential left. Conversely, a rapid buildup of short interest suggests that market participants are actively shorting the concerned stock, anticipating that itâll quickly depreciate in value in the foreseeable future. So, the short interest metric is a useful tool to gauge the Streetâs ever-evolving sentiment pertaining to any given stock.

In Palantirâs case, its short interest amounted to about 107 million at the end of the last reporting cycle. This figure may not mean much in isolation but it actually amounts to roughly 6.5% of the companyâs total floating shares. Whatâs even more interesting here is that this figure is down by nearly 19% within one month. This considerable reduction indicates that short-side market participants actively wound up their positions in Palantir during the last cycle.

Next, I wanted to see if this short covering was prevalent in the entire software infrastructure industry or if was elevated specifically in Palantirâs case. So, I pulled up the short interest data for 30 other software infrastructure stocks listed on U.S. bourses, that had at least $1 billion in trailing twelve-month revenue. The results were rather interesting. As it turns out, Palantir saw one of the highest levels of short unwinding in the last cycle. This indicates that market participants were far too active with unwinding their short positions in Palantir, than with the other stocks.

BusinessQuant.com

Another point to note here is that this short unwinding took place while Palantirâs shares were still subdued. If the bears had a credible thesis for the company, they would have held onto the short positions a little longer in a bid to profit from further price declines. But these traders covered their short positions instead, perhaps because they perceive the stock to have bottomed out and/or have little downside potential from current levels.

BusinessQuant.com

This begs the question â why are market participants actively unwinding their short positions in Palantir in the first place?

Reasons for Caution

There are broadly 3 reasons as to why market participants may be scrambling to cover their shorts in Palantir. First, the stock has already dropped by a considerable amount over the last year and itâs now valued more or less at par with some of the other rapidly-growing names belonging to the software infrastructure industry. This suggests that Palantirâs shares may have limited downside potential from current levels, thereby making them moribund for short-side traders.

BusinessQuant.com

Secondly, Palantir was lambasted in investing circles for several months after its direct listing about how its commercial business wasnât taking off. While some bears suggested that Palantirâs revenue growth entirely hinged on its government ties and secret deals, others felt that the company didnât have any moat to compete in the commercial space. But those days are in the past, as Palantirâs commercial revenue growth has finally taken off in recent quarters.

BusinessQuant.com

Third, Palantirâs commercial revenue growth momentum is likely to continue in the foreseeable future as well, and the segment is likely to become a major growth driver for the company as a whole. See, Palantir has been adding customers at a rapid rate. Its commercial customer count in Q1 was up 205% year-over-year whereas its commercial revenue was up 56% in the said time frame.

BusinessQuant.com

This leads me to believe that these new customers are starting out with relatively smaller contracts and theyâre likely to gradually ramp up spending on Palantirâs platforms as their personnel get familiarized with the new workflows and the companies drop their legacy reporting tools. This implies that Palantirâs commercial revenue growth momentum will remain at elevated levels and eventually become the predominant growth driver for the entire company.

Besides, Iâve also covered in my prior articles how Palantirâs stock-based compensation is subsiding and is no longer a cause of concern, how its insider selling has dropped substantially, and why the company will be relatively unfazed in an inflationary environment. All these factors, collectively, suggest that Palantirâs shares are bottoming out at current levels, making it a very risky short for the time being at least.

Final Thoughts

Iâd like to clarify that short interest data highlights trades that have already taken place in the past. It does not predict trades that are yet to take place and/or the ensuing price action. So, this data should, at best, be used to confirm the trade direction and to ascertain if the underlying investment thesis lines up with shorting activity.

Having said that, the sharp short interest reduction in Palantir should come as a relief for its long-side shareholders. Letâs take a closer look to gain a better understanding of it all.Shorting SubsidesFor the uninitiated, short interest is basically the total number of short positions that are open and are yet to be covered. This considerable reduction indicates that short-side market participants actively wound up their positions in Palantir during the last cycle.Next, I wanted to see if this short covering was prevalent in the entire software infrastructure industry or if was elevated specifically in Palantirâs case. This indicates that market participants were far too active with unwinding their short positions in Palantir, than with the other stocks.BusinessQuant.comAnother point to note here is that this short unwinding took place while Palantirâs shares were still subdued. If the bears had a credible thesis for the company, they would have held onto the short positions a little longer in a bid to profit from further price declines. But these traders covered their short positions instead, perhaps because they perceive the stock to have bottomed out and/or have little downside potential from current levels.BusinessQuant.comThis begs the question â why are market participants actively unwinding their short positions in Palantir in the first place?Reasons for CautionThere are broadly 3 reasons as to why market participants may be scrambling to cover their shorts in Palantir. First, the stock has already dropped by a considerable amount over the last year and itâs now valued more or less at par with some of the other rapidly-growing names belonging to the software infrastructure industry. This suggests that Palantirâs shares may have limited downside potential from current levels, thereby making them moribund for short-side traders.BusinessQuant.comSecondly, Palantir was lambasted in investing circles for several months after its direct listing about how its commercial business wasnât taking off. While some bears suggested that Palantirâs revenue growth entirely hinged on its government ties and secret deals, others felt that the company didnât have any moat to compete in the commercial space. But those days are in the past, as Palantirâs commercial revenue growth has finally taken off in recent quarters.BusinessQuant.comThird, Palantirâs commercial revenue growth momentum is likely to continue in the foreseeable future as well, and the segment is likely to become a major growth driver for the company as a whole. See, Palantir has been adding customers at a rapid rate. Its commercial customer count in Q1 was up 205% year-over-year whereas its commercial revenue was up 56% in the said time frame.BusinessQuant.comThis leads me to believe that these new customers are starting out with relatively smaller contracts and theyâre likely to gradually ramp up spending on Palantirâs platforms as their personnel get familiarized with the new workflows and the companies drop their legacy reporting tools. This implies that Palantirâs commercial revenue growth momentum will remain at elevated levels and eventually become the predominant growth driver for the entire company.Besides, Iâve also covered in my prior articles how Palantirâs stock-based compensation is subsiding and is no longer a cause of concern, how its insider selling has dropped substantially, and why the company will be relatively unfazed in an inflationary environment. All these factors, collectively, suggest that Palantirâs shares are bottoming out at current levels, making it a very risky short for the time being at least.Final ThoughtsIâd like to clarify that short interest data highlights trades that have already taken place in the past. It does not predict trades that are yet to take place and/or the ensuing price action. So, this data should, at best, be used to confirm the trade direction and to ascertain if the underlying investment thesis lines up with shorting activity.Having said that, the sharp short interest reduction in Palantir should come as a relief for its long-side shareholders. It indicates that the incessant selloff in the stock may now be over and the security may be in the process of forming a bottom. Therefore, I believe this may be a good time to accumulate the stock with a long-term time horizon. last cycle.

Having said that, the sharp short interest reduction in Palantir should come as a relief for its long-side shareholders. It indicates that the incessant selloff in the stock may now be over and the security may be in the process of forming a bottom. Therefore, I believe this may be a good time to accumulate the stock with a long-term time horizon. Those challenges can crush high-growth tech companies that aren't profitable and trade at frothy valuations.However, blue-chip tech stocks that have wide moats, pay high dividends, and trade at low valuations will remain more resilient during a market downturn. Here are three stocks that fit that description: HP (NYSE:HPQ), Juniper Networks (NYSE:JNPR), and Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO). Let's find out a bit more about these three high-yield tech stocks.1. HPHP is one of the world's largest producers of PCs and printers. Both businesses grew during the pandemic as work-from-home trends and DIY projects sparked fresh demand for new PCs and printers, respectively.HP's consumer-facing business faced tough post-lockdown comparisons throughout 2021, but the growth of its commercial business offset that slowdown as more businesses reopened and upgraded their aging systems.HP's revenue and adjusted earnings rose 12% and 66%, respectively, in 2021. Analysts expect its revenue and adjusted earnings to grow another 3% and 10%, respectively, in 2022, as its year-over-year comparisons stabilize.HP also returned more than 100% of its free cash flow (FCF) to its investors via buybacks and dividends in 2021. It's reduced its share count by 36% over the past five years, and it's boosted its dividend every year since it spun off Hewlett-Packard Enterprise in late 2015.HP currently pays a forward dividend yield of 2.7% and its stock still looks cheap at less than nine times forward earnings. Its high yield, low valuation, and stable growth rates make it a solid stock to own in a wobbly market.2. Juniper NetworksJuniper sells networking switches, routers, and security software. It's a lot smaller than market leader Cisco, but it continues to grow at a steady rate as it sells more cloud-ready hardware and services to offset the slower growth of its legacy service provider products.Juniper struggled in 2020 as the pandemic and other macro headwinds throttled demand for its products. Its supply chain and logistics expenses also soared and offset the growth of its higher-margin software business. But in the first nine months of 2021, its revenue rose 7% and its adjusted earnings per share stayed flat as those headwinds gradually waned.For the full year, analysts expect Juniper's revenue and earnings to rise 6% and 11%, respectively, as its enterprise campus and data center customers resume their network upgrades. Next year, they expect its revenue and earnings to grow 5% and 14%, respectively.Juniper pays a forward dividend yield of 2.2%. It doesn't consistently raise that payout every single year, but it spent just 44% of its FCF on its dividend over the past 12 months -- so it has plenty of room for future hikes. Its stock also still looks cheap at 18 times forward earnings.3. BroadcomBroadcom produces a wide range of chips for the data center, networking, data storage, and industrial markets. It also owns a smaller infrastructure software business, which it established through a series of big acquisitions.Broadcom experienced a slowdown in 2020 as the pandemic disrupted its networking, automotive, and industrial markets. However, the inorganic growth of its infrastructure software business partly cushioned that blow.In 2021, Broadcom's revenue and adjusted earnings rose 15% and 26%, respectively, as those end markets stabilized. Analysts expect its revenue and earnings to grow another 12% and 18%, respectively, this year.Broadcom's stock still looks reasonably valued at 21 times forward earnings, and it pays a forward dividend yield of 2.5%. It's raised that payout annually ever since Avago bought the original Broadcom and inherited its brand in 2016, and its dividend consumed just 47% of its FCF over the past 12 months.Investors looking for a well-diversified semiconductor play that will benefit from the secular growth of next-gen markets -- like driverless cars and the industrial Internet of Things (IoT) -- should take a closer look at Broadcom.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AVGO":1,"HPQ":1,"JNPR":1,"FCF":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":835,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":812750533,"gmtCreate":1630626660522,"gmtModify":1676530358051,"author":{"id":"4089018853439370","authorId":"4089018853439370","name":"BrOoKe","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a8081ab75c39abcb57e6136431300155","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4089018853439370","idStr":"4089018853439370"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Very scary","listText":"Very scary","text":"Very scary","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/812750533","repostId":"1186835624","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":680,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":807574785,"gmtCreate":1628046893947,"gmtModify":1703500224429,"author":{"id":"4089018853439370","authorId":"4089018853439370","name":"BrOoKe","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a8081ab75c39abcb57e6136431300155","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4089018853439370","idStr":"4089018853439370"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Higher and higer [Miser] [What] [Cool] ","listText":"Higher and higer [Miser] [What] [Cool] ","text":"Higher and higer [Miser] [What] [Cool]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/807574785","repostId":"2156312793","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":404,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
