Apple’s market value is now $698.40 billion larger than Microsoft’s, with that spread again similar to Tesla’s  current valuation.</p><p>While Apple shares rallied 7.6% in Friday trading after the company posted a large revenue beat in its Mac segment and indicated that iPhone demand was strong despite supply challenges, Microsoft shares lost 7.7% Wednesday as the company’s most recent earnings report fueled concerns about cloud growth.</p><p>Combined, Apple’s and Microsoft’s market caps made up 42% of the market cap of all Dow Jones Industrial Average components as of Friday’s close.</p><p>Apple’s price-to-earnings ratio on a next-12-months basis is also higher than Microsoft’s in a somewhat rare occurrence. While the smartphone giant’s forward P/E has been higher than Microsoft’s during several days in September and October, it hadn’t been above Microsoft’s before those instances since January 2021, per Dow Jones Market Data, based on FactSet data.</p><p>Apple had a 24.48 P/E ahead of Monday’s open, while Microsoft’s was 23.25.</p><p>Shares of both names remain down on the year, however, with Microsoft’s stock off 31% over the course of 2022 and Apple’s off 14%. The $719.24 billion spread between those two market caps was the widest record and nearly as much as Tesla Inc.’s entire market cap of $721.61 billion, according to Dow Jones Market Data.The spread has narrowed a bit with Monday morning’s trading action, as Apple shares are off 1.8% and Microsoft shares are down 1.5%. Apple’s market value is now $698.40 billion larger than Microsoft’s, with that spread again similar to Tesla’s  current valuation.While Apple shares rallied 7.6% in Friday trading after the company posted a large revenue beat in its Mac segment and indicated that iPhone demand was strong despite supply challenges, Microsoft shares lost 7.7% Wednesday as the company’s most recent earnings report fueled concerns about cloud growth.Combined, Apple’s and Microsoft’s market caps made up 42% of the market cap of all Dow Jones Industrial Average components as of Friday’s close.Apple’s price-to-earnings ratio on a next-12-months basis is also higher than Microsoft’s in a somewhat rare occurrence. The stock is still trading much lower -a decline of 66% when it was trading at $13.99 on Oct. 15, 2021.AMC shares have also rebounded. They were trading at $6.65 at mid-day on Monday, an increase of 4.44% compared to the past five days. continue to grow its asset base and distribution per unit (DPU) over the long term.</p><p>By doing so, the unitholder will not only enjoy a larger stream of passive income in the future but can also savour capital gains as investors bid up the stock’s unit price.</p><p>Here are two such stocks that recently conducted acquisitions to boost their DPU that you may consider adding to your stocks watchlist.</p><h3><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/A7RU.SI\">Keppel Infrastructure Trust </a></h3><p>Keppel Infrastructure Trust, or KIT, is a diversified business trust with around S$4.7 billion of assets under management (AUM) as of 30 June 2022.</p><p>The trust owns a portfolio of infrastructure businesses and assets that provide essential products and services to clients such as government agencies and multinational corporations.</p><p>Earlier this month, KIT announced that it will partner with Keppel Asia Infrastructure Fund (KAIF) and Keppel Infrastructure Holdings Pte Ltd (KI) to jointly acquire a South Korean waste management company, Eco Management Korea Holdings, or EMK.</p><p>The acquisition will cost around S$666.1 million and KIT will hold a 52% stake in the asset, with KAIF and KI taking up stakes of 30% and 18%, respectively.</p><p>EMK is an integrated waste management services player in South Korea and operates six waste-to-energy plants and five sludge drying facilities.</p><p>It also owns the third-largest incineration plant in the country and is the largest waste oil refiner in South Korea.</p><p>This acquisition is expected to complete by the second half of 2022 (2H2022).</p><p>Post-acquisition, KIT’s AUM is expected to grow to around S$5.3 billion.</p><p>EMK is an attractive investment as proprietary expertise can be drawn from across the Keppel group to grow the business while also supporting KIT’s ESG targets.</p><p>Distribution income per unit (DIPU) for fiscal 2021 (FY2021) is projected to climb by 4.2% from S$0.0385 to S$0.0401, with KIT’s gearing increasing to around 29.5% post-acquisition.</p><p>Elsewhere, KIT has also announced a joint investment with Keppel Corporation Limited (SGX: BN4) to acquire a 25% stake in Borkum Riffgrund 2, an operational 465 megawatt (MW) German offshore wind farm.</p><p>Both KIT and Keppel Corporation will invest around S$445.3 million for a 20.5% and 4.5% stake, respectively, in this renewable energy asset.</p><p>The wind farm has an attractive feed-in tariff and a guaranteed floor price till 2038, providing strong cash flow visibility.</p><p>This transaction will increase KIT’s exposure to renewable assets from 4% to 11% and is expected to close by the fourth quarter of this year.</p><p>KIT’s AUM is projected to grow to S$6.1 billion after both transactions are completed.</p><p>This second acquisition will further boost DIPU by S$0.0016, lifting DIPU to S$0.0417.</p><p>Gearing, on the other hand, will increase by 6.8 percentage points to 35.3%.</p><h3><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/HMN.SI\">Ascott Residence Trust </a></h3><p>Ascott Residence Trust, or ART, is the largest hospitality trust in Asia-Pacific with an AUM of S$7.6 billion as of 30 June 2022.</p><p>Its international portfolio comprises 95 properties with over 17,000 units in 44 cities across 15 countries.</p><p>ART is proposing to acquire nine serviced residences, rental housing and student accommodation properties worth S$318.3 million from its sponsor, The Ascott Limited.</p><p>Seven of these assets are located in Australia, Japan and Vietnam while the remaining two are in France and the US.</p><p>With this acquisition, ART’s portfolio will exceed 100 properties and its total AUM will grow to S$8.3 billion, cementing its status as the largest hospitality trust in the region.</p><p>The transaction is expected to complete by November this year subject to approval by stapled security holders at an extraordinary general meeting to be held in September.</p><p>Post-acquisition, the proportion of ART’s stable income (comprising longer-stay properties and properties on master leases with fixed rent structures) will increase from the current 69% to 71%.</p><p>Distribution per stapled security (DPSS) for FY2021 is projected to rise by 2.8% from S$0.0432 to S$0.0444 after the transaction is The network is the talk of crypto bulls and crypto bears alike in the face of a major price meltdown this week. Those still invested are either buying in while prices are incredibly low, or they’ve lost so much they are just hoping for a miracle. Is LUNA going to come back from this?Do Kwon, the founder of the Terra network, sure seems to think so. Kwon has been trying to assuage investors since the projectbegan to seriously tank. He is doing this through the developers’three-pronged approachto salvaging the product.The first two parts of the plan involve a large TerraUSD(UST-USD) burn, in order to stabilize the token back at $1. Over 371 million UST on the Ethereum(ETH-USD) network will be burned, as will all UST remaining in the Terra community pool. The third prong of this plan involves staking 240 million LUNA to stabilize governance and keep a whale from seizing control over the network.Atop these plans, the developers are also taking on a community proposal to increase the burn rate of UST. Moreover, they temporarilyhalted the blockchain completely, freezing all unsettled transactions. This was to prevent users from taking advantage of the low price of LUNA and buying it all up at once.Will the LUNA Crypto Recover? Analysts Can’t Decide.While the LUNA crypto is now trading at only a fraction of 1 cent, investors might be throwing their hands up in the air. Can this bailout plan save the Terra network?Many have their doubts. It seems that most talk about the network online is quite negative, with lots of investors already considering the project dead. The Motley Fool’sTrevor Jennewine isadvising investors steer clear of LUNAnow, even with its exceptionally low cost. Price predicting websites likeCoinPriceForecastand DigitalCoinPricesee no growth opportunities for the network on the horizon either. The two sites predict an end-of-year price of 6 cents and less than 1 cent, respectively, for LUNA.There are others still with some hope still for the network. Crypto analysis website InvestingCubesaid that a LUNA crypto price recoverycould very well be a possibility. The report suggests that UST returning to $1 could catalyze a LUNA gain, allowing it to regain its footing. Price prediction site WalletInvestoris remaining extremely bullish with its 12-month LUNA prediction. It expects the coin to reach $151 by May 2023. Apple’s market value is now $698.40 billion larger than Microsoft’s, with that spread again similar to Tesla’s  current valuation.</p><p>While Apple shares rallied 7.6% in Friday trading after the company posted a large revenue beat in its Mac segment and indicated that iPhone demand was strong despite supply challenges, Microsoft shares lost 7.7% Wednesday as the company’s most recent earnings report fueled concerns about cloud growth.</p><p>Combined, Apple’s and Microsoft’s market caps made up 42% of the market cap of all Dow Jones Industrial Average components as of Friday’s close.</p><p>Apple’s price-to-earnings ratio on a next-12-months basis is also higher than Microsoft’s in a somewhat rare occurrence. While the smartphone giant’s forward P/E has been higher than Microsoft’s during several days in September and October, it hadn’t been above Microsoft’s before those instances since January 2021, per Dow Jones Market Data, based on FactSet data.</p><p>Apple had a 24.48 P/E ahead of Monday’s open, while Microsoft’s was 23.25.</p><p>Shares of both names remain down on the year, however, with Microsoft’s stock off 31% over the course of 2022 and Apple’s off 14%. Now it&#39;s accelerating the process, as planned, and it&#39;s making some market watchers nervous.</p><p>A lack of historical experience around the process is raising the uncertainty level. Meanwhile, research that increasingly credits quantitative easing, or QE, with giving asset prices a lift logically points to the potential for QT to do the opposite.</p><p>Since 2010, QE has explained about 50% of the movement in market price-to-earnings multiples, said Savita Subramanian, equity and quant strategist at Bank of America, in an Aug. 15 research note (see chart below).</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c7ba2d5fe717396f178495c88a6ba8f6\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"748\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/></p><p>&#34;Based on the strong linear relationship between QE and S&amp;P 500 returns from 2010 to 2019, QT through 2023 would translate into a 7 percentage-point drop in the S&amp;P 500 from here,&#34; she wrote.</p><p>In quantitative easing, a central bank creates credit that&#39;s used to buy securities on the open market. Purchases of long-dated bonds are intended to drive down yields, which is seen enhancing appetite for risky assets as investors look elsewhere for higher returns. QE creates new reserves on bank balance sheets. The added cushion gives banks, which must hold reserves in line with regulations, more room to lend or to finance trading activity by hedge funds and other financial market participants, further enhancing market liquidity.</p><p>The way to think about the relationship between QE and equities is to note that as central banks undertake QE, it raises forward earnings expectations. That, in turn, lowers the equity risk premium, which is the extra return investors demand to hold risky equities over safe Treasurys, noted PGM Global&#39;s Garrib. Investors are willing to venture further out on the risk curve, he said, which explains the surge in earnings-free &#34;dream stocks&#34; and other highly speculative assets amid the QE flood as the economy and stock market recovered from the pandemic in 2021.</p><p>However, with the economy recovering and inflation rising the Fed began shrinking its balance sheet in June, and is doubling the pace in September to its maximum rate of $95 billion per month. This will be accomplished by letting $60 billion of Treasurys and $35 billion of mortgage backed securities roll off the balance sheet without reinvestment. At that pace, the balance sheet could shrink by $1 trillion in a year.</p><p>The unwinding of the Fed&#39;s balance sheet that began in 2017 after the economy had long recovered from the 2008-2009 crisis was supposed to be as exciting as &#34;watching paint dry,&#34; then-Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen said at the time. It was a ho-hum affair until the fall of 2019, when the Fed had to inject cash into malfunctioning money markets. QE then resumed in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.</p><p>More economists and analysts have been ringing alarm bells over the possibility of a repeat of the 2019 liquidity crunch.</p><p>&#34;If the past repeats, the shrinking of the central bank&#39;s balance sheet is not likely to be an entirely benign process and will require careful monitoring of the banking sector&#39;s on-and off-balance sheet demandable liabilities,&#34; warned Raghuram Rajan, former governor of the Reserve Bank of India and former chief economist at the International Monetary Fund, and other researchers in a paper presented at the Kansas City Fed&#39;s annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, last month.</p><p>Hedge-fund giant Bridgewater Associates in June warned that QT was contributing to a &#34;liquidity hole&#34; in the bond market.</p><p>The slow pace of the wind-down so far and the composition of the balance-sheet reduction have muted the effect of QT so far, but that&#39;s set to change, Garrib said.</p><p>He noted that QT is usually described in the context of the asset side of the Fed&#39;s balance sheet, but it&#39;s the liability side that matters to financial markets. And so far, reductions in Fed liabilities have been concentrated in the Treasury General Account, or TGA, which effectively serves as the government&#39;s checking account.</p><p>That&#39;s actually served to improve market liquidity he explained, as it means the government has been spending money to pay for goods and services. It won&#39;t last.</p><p>The Treasury plans to increase debt issuance in coming months, which will boost the size of the TGA. The Fed will actively redeem T-bills when coupon maturities aren&#39;t sufficient to meet their monthly balance sheet reductions as part of QT, Garrib said.</p><p>The Treasury will be effectively taking money out of economy and putting it into the government&#39;s checking account -- a net drag -- as it issues more debt. Investors and policy makers may be underestimating what happens as the tide goes out.\"I don't know if the Fed or anybody else truly understands the impact of QT just yet,\" said Aidan Garrib, head of global macro strategy and research at Montreal-based PGM Global, in a phone interview.The Fed, in fact, began slowly shrinking its balance sheet -- a process known as quantitative tightening, or QT -- earlier this year. Now it's accelerating the process, as planned, and it's making some market watchers nervous.A lack of historical experience around the process is raising the uncertainty level. Meanwhile, research that increasingly credits quantitative easing, or QE, with giving asset prices a lift logically points to the potential for QT to do the opposite.Since 2010, QE has explained about 50% of the movement in market price-to-earnings multiples, said Savita Subramanian, equity and quant strategist at Bank of America, in an Aug. 15 research note (see chart below).\"Based on the strong linear relationship between QE and S&P 500 returns from 2010 to 2019, QT through 2023 would translate into a 7 percentage-point drop in the S&P 500 from here,\" she wrote.In quantitative easing, a central bank creates credit that's used to buy securities on the open market. Purchases of long-dated bonds are intended to drive down yields, which is seen enhancing appetite for risky assets as investors look elsewhere for higher returns. QE creates new reserves on bank balance sheets. The added cushion gives banks, which must hold reserves in line with regulations, more room to lend or to finance trading activity by hedge funds and other financial market participants, further enhancing market liquidity.The way to think about the relationship between QE and equities is to note that as central banks undertake QE, it raises forward earnings expectations. That, in turn, lowers the equity risk premium, which is the extra return investors demand to hold risky equities over safe Treasurys, noted PGM Global's Garrib. Investors are willing to venture further out on the risk curve, he said, which explains the surge in earnings-free \"dream stocks\" and other highly speculative assets amid the QE flood as the economy and stock market recovered from the pandemic in 2021.However, with the economy recovering and inflation rising the Fed began shrinking its balance sheet in June, and is doubling the pace in September to its maximum rate of $95 billion per month. QE then resumed in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.More economists and analysts have been ringing alarm bells over the possibility of a repeat of the 2019 liquidity crunch.\"If the past repeats, the shrinking of the central bank's balance sheet is not likely to be an entirely benign process and will require careful monitoring of the banking sector's on-and off-balance sheet demandable liabilities,\" warned Raghuram Rajan, former governor of the Reserve Bank of India and former chief economist at the International Monetary Fund, and other researchers in a paper presented at the Kansas City Fed's annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, last month.Hedge-fund giant Bridgewater Associates in June warned that QT was contributing to a \"liquidity hole\" in the bond market.The slow pace of the wind-down so far and the composition of the balance-sheet reduction have muted the effect of QT so far, but that's set to change, Garrib said.He noted that QT is usually described in the context of the asset side of the Fed's balance sheet, but it's the liability side that matters to financial markets. Private-sector employment is expected to have increased by 350,000 jobs after a gain of 247,000 in April. The economy is expected to add 317,500 nonfarm jobs, after a gain of 428,000 in April. The unemployment rate is seen edging down from 3.6% to 3.5%, which would match a half-century low. \n\n\n     Cigna hosts its 2022 investor day in New York. The company will update its financial outlook at the meeting. \n\n\n     ISM releases its Services Purchasing Managers' Index for May.
