The companies are now authorized to negotiate specific details, including the required quantities, said the individuals, who requested anonymity due to the private nature of the discussions. As a condition for final approval, Beijing intends to encourage these firms to purchase a certain volume of domestic chips, though a precise quota has not yet been established.

These deliberations indicate that Beijing is proceeding with its strategy to authorize imports of the H200—a cutting-edge semiconductor that has become a focal point in delicate US-China trade discussions. This move underscores the government's commitment to supporting the requirements of major Chinese cloud computing giants, from Alibaba to Tencent, which are investing billions to construct the data centers essential for developing and running artificial intelligence services.

Such a development would represent a significant victory for Nvidia, which has been striving to re-engage with the world's biggest semiconductor market. CEO Jensen Huang has projected that the AI chip sector alone could yield $50 billion in revenue in the near future. During Nvidia's absence from the market, domestic competitors like Huawei Technologies Co. and Cambricon Technologies Corp. have expanded their presence and are preparing to ramp up production substantially.

Beijing's directive to its top technology companies contradicts recent media reports suggesting the government was impeding H200 shipments. Just last week, the Financial Times reported that suppliers of components for the chip had temporarily halted production. It soared to $39 last January amid the Reddit-fueled trading frenzy in \"meme stocks,\" but it now trades at about $8. Amazon's stock closed at an all-time high of $3,731.41 last July, but it subsequently tumbled to about $2,200 as investors fretted over its slowing e-commerce growth and rising expenses. Is either beaten-down tech stock worth buying as rising interest rates and other macro challenges challenge the entire sector?IMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.Palantir is losing its momentumPalantir's data mining and analytics tools help government and commercial customers make informed decisions. Its government business, which aims to become the \"default operating system for data across the U.S. government,\" has traditionally grown faster than its commercial business. But over the past three quarters, its commercial business has grown at a faster rate than its government business. That slowdown raises troubling questions about brewing competition from other data mining platforms and internally developed alternatives within the U.S. government.Palantir's revenue rose 47% to $1.09 billion in 2020 and grew 41% to $1.54 billion in 2021.It insists it will generate at least 30% annual revenue growth through 2025, but it's off to a rough start this year: Its revenue rose 31% in the first quarter, but it expects just 25% growth in the second quarter. It believes its growth will improve in the second half of the year as it secures more \"anticipated\" contracts, but analysts expect just 29% growth this year.Palantir's adjusted gross and operating margins also fell both sequentially and year over year in the first quarter of 2022. For the full year, it expects its adjusted operating margin to decline about four percentage points to 27% as it ramps up its investments \"in advance\" of future contracts. It isn't profitable on a generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) basis yet, but analysts expect its non-GAAP EPS to improve 23% this year.Palantir's business is still expanding, but its slowing growth, shrinking margins, and lack of GAAP profits made it an unappealing investment as the macro headwinds drove investors away from riskier growth plays.Amazon faces tough post-pandemic challengesAmazon generates most of its revenue from its e-commerce marketplaces, but most of its profits come from Amazon Web Services (AWS), the largest cloud infrastructure platform in the world. Both of these businesses fired on all cylinders throughout the pandemic, as more people shopped online and companies ramped up their spending on cloud-based services. But as the lockdown measures were relaxed, Amazon's e-commerce growth decelerated while its expenses surged amid rising fuel costs, supply chain challenges, and other inflationary headwinds. It invested in the electric truck maker Rivian to offset those long-term costs, but that poorly timed investment resulted in a pre-tax loss of $7.6 billion (compared to its total net loss of $3.8 billion) last quarter. That staggering loss tarnished the bullish thesis that Amazon could consistently subsidize its lower-margin retail business with AWS' higher-margin revenue. AWS is still the market leader and generating more than 30% revenue growth each quarter, but this core profit engine could struggle to offset the losses of Amazon's other businesses later this year.Amazon's revenue rose 38% to $386 billion in 2020 and grew 22% to $470 billion in 2021. Its EPS increased 82% in 2020, even as it incurred billions of dollars of COVID-19-related expenses, and grew 55% in 2021. But this year, analysts expect its revenue to grow a mere 12% as its EPS tumbles 75%.Just like Palantir, Amazon's toxic mix of slowing growth and rising expenses made it a difficult stock to own.But Amazon has a better shot at a recoveryPalantir's stock trades at 43 times forward earnings and nine times this year's sales. It still isn't cheap relative to similar growth stocks like Twilio, which aims to generate more than 30% organic revenue growth through 2024 but trades at just five times this year's sales.Amazon trades at 42 times forward earnings and two times this year's sales. That's a high price-to-earnings ratio for a traditional retailer but a low price-to-sales ratio for an e-commerce or cloud infrastructure company. Those mixed valuations should limit its downside potential, but Amazon's stock probably won't rally until its e-commerce business stabilizes.I wouldn't rush to buy either of these stocks right now. But if I had to choose one over the other, I'd definitely stick with Amazon because it's larger, better diversified, and more profitable. Palantir's future is still highly speculative, and its recent slowdown suggests that its long-term target of at least 30% revenue growth through 2025 might be too ambitious.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"PLTR":0.9,"AMZN":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2476,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9067432382,"gmtCreate":1652495199146,"gmtModify":1676535111845,"author":{"id":"4106958589832490","authorId":"4106958589832490","name":"whereareyou","avatar":"https://static.itradeup.com/news/1e1404e84b34f5746764c809e3ee03f2","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4106958589832490","idStr":"4106958589832490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Dead cat bounce??? That proved true again this week when Coinbase's shares were hit hard after the prices of many cryptoassets plunged following the collapse of the popular stablecoin project Terra (LUNA -97.25%).Today, the crypto market is experiencing a bit of a rebound. And Coinbase's stock is rallying alongside it.Image source: Getty Images.Coinbase's share price likely also received a boost from the news that widely followed fund manager Cathie Wood was scooping up more of the digital asset exchange operator's stock during its recent swoon. The founder and CEO of Ark Investment Management bought roughly $30 million worth of Coinbase stock for Ark's funds on Wednesday. Now whatAs one of the world's largest digital trading platforms and a leading investor in blockchain-focused start-ups, Coinbase's future is innately tied to the health of the crypto market. Its stock price is thus likely to remain volatile as it's largely influenced by the gyrations in cryptocurrency prices. However, the company's leadership team believes that Coinbase's long-term success will be more closely tied to the rising adoption of blockchain technology. CEO Brian Armstrong sees the growing usage of cryptocurrency beyond simply for trading purposes as a powerful growth driver. And Wood's recent stock purchases suggest she shares Armstrong's perspective on the crypto industry's future.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"COIN":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2876,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9061011910,"gmtCreate":1651541745755,"gmtModify":1676534922862,"author":{"id":"4106958589832490","authorId":"4106958589832490","name":"whereareyou","avatar":"https://static.itradeup.com/news/1e1404e84b34f5746764c809e3ee03f2","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4106958589832490","idStr":"4106958589832490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Up a bit then down further...[Gosh] ","listText":"Up a bit then down further...[Gosh] ","text":"Up a bit then down further...[Gosh]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9061011910","repostId":"1111315114","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1111315114","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1651498030,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1111315114?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-05-02 21:27","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Stocks Rise Slightly to Start May after Nasdaq Posts Worst Month since 2008","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1111315114","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"U.S. stock index futures were little changed on Monday morning after the Nasdaq Composite Index post","content":"

U.S. stock index futures were little changed on Monday morning after the Nasdaq Composite Index posted its worst month since 2008, pressured by rising rates, rampant inflation and underwhelming earnings from some of the largest technology companies.

Futures contracts tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 63 points, or 0.2%. Intel used to be the market leader in chips, but that is no longer the case. Increasing competition in the chip space has put Intel under great pressure. In terms of earnings results, Intel outperformed Wall Street consensus projections on both sales and earnings per share in the fourth quarter. Revenues of $19.5 billion were higher than the average projection of $18.32 billion. Meanwhile, adjusted earnings per share of $1.09 came in above analysts’ expectations of $0.90 per share.Q1 ExpectationsAccording to experts, Intel is projected to announce adjusted earnings of $0.79 per share in the first quarter. This represents a year-over-year decrease of 43%.Meanwhile, Intel projects adjusted revenue of $18.3 billion and non-GAAP earnings of $0.80 per share for the first quarter.Wall Street’s TakeChristopher Rolland of Susquehanna expects Intel to report results in line with expectations for the first quarter.According to the analyst, Intel’s continued Alder Lake (Alder Lake is Intel’s codename for the 12th generation of Intel Core CPUs) ramp is believed to have helped the company gain moderate market share in the first quarter. However, the analyst believes that the business may face difficulties in the medium term due to “a weakening PC demand backdrop and potential margin headwinds.”As a result, Rolland maintained a Neutral rating on the stock and a price target of $52 per share. This implies 14% upside potential from current levels. On TipRanks, Intel stock commands a Hold consensus rating based on seven Buys, 13 Holds, and seven Sells. As for price targets, the average INTC price target of $52.77 implies almost 16% upside potential from the current levels.Bottom LineGiven the fierce competition in the chip industry, Intel’s short-term prospects do not appear to be very promising. On the other hand, it is positioning itself for the long haul by aggressively investing in its business. The company is increasing its fabrication capacity and making the foundries available to third parties. During the Q1 conference call, investors will be interested to hear about Intel’s product selection and other expansion plans.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"INTC":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1306,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":522171304890712,"gmtCreate":1768518433519,"gmtModify":1768518436850,"author":{"id":"4106958589832490","authorId":"4106958589832490","name":"whereareyou","avatar":"https://static.itradeup.com/news/1e1404e84b34f5746764c809e3ee03f2","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4106958589832490","idStr":"4106958589832490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Trading Profit and Tiger merchandise - always my favorite. Through Tuesday's close, the stock was off more than 40% for the year so far.Netflix blamed password sharing among its members and increased streaming competition for creating what it called \"revenue growth headwinds.\" Netflix estimated that besides its almost 222 million paying households, the service is being shared with an additional 100 million homes including 30 million in the U.S. and Canada. In its letter to investors, Netflix said it is testing password-sharing subscription models that it believes will allow it to monetize sharing and build revenue. The company said the portion of its members who share accounts hasn't changed much over the years, but as its overall subscriber base continues to expand, account sharing is hampering future growth in many markets. The streaming giant said revenue growth has slowed considerably after years of 20%-plus gains. Revenue in the first quarter rose roughly 10% to $7.87 billion, below analysts' projections of $7.93 billion.Netflix also warned that gains made during the Covid-19 pandemic hid the fault lines that have emerged in its business over the past few years. \"Covid clouded the picture by significantly increasing our growth in 2020, leading us to believe that most of our slowing growth in 2021 was due to the Covid pull forward,\" the company said in its letter. The subscription decline brought Netflix's paid global subscriber base to 221.6 million, down from 221.8 million in the prior quarter. Net profit was $1.6 billion, down from $1.71 billion a year earlier.Besides competition and password sharing, Netflix said slowing growth reflected such factors as the rate of adoption of smart TVs, data costs and world events including increasing inflation, Russia's invasion of Ukraine and continuing disruption from the pandemic.Netflix said shutting down its service in Russia resulted in the loss of 700,000 subscribers. With a rate of growth that has been the envy of the industry for more than a decade, Netflix is seen as a barometer for streaming. As competition grew and programming costs rose, the company moved recently to raise the price for its monthly plans for the first time since 2020.Netflix's approach contrasts with options presented by competitors. Walt Disney Co. announced last month that it would roll out a cheaper, ad-supported Disney+ subscription in the U.S. beginning in late 2022. The move would leave Netflix and Apple Inc. as the only major streaming services that don't offer a lower-cost, ad-supported option. While Netflix has no stated plans to launch an advertiser-supported tier, during a recent investment conference its chief operating officer, Spencer Neumann, said: \"Never say never.\"Netflix's first-quarter operating margin was 25.1%, down from 27.4% a year earlier. The company said it aims to keep its operating margin at 20% in the future.Netflix said its plan to right itself will be heavily focused on improving the quality of its programming and the recommendations that platform provides to its customers to keep them engaged in the content and on the service. Netflix already spends more than any other entertainment provider, with a programming budget that is expected to surpass $20 billion this year.Although Netflix has several hit shows including \"Stranger Things,\" \"Bridgerton\" and \"The Crown,\" the service has also had its fair share of expensive flops recently including shows such as \"Jupiter Ascending\" and \"Space Force.\"World-wide, Netflix said its business in Central and Eastern Europe showed the effects of Russia's attack on Ukraine. Also down was Latin America, which lost 400,000 subscribers. In the U.S. and Canada, the company lost 600,000 subscribers, which it attributed to its recent price increase. The company said it had grown in Japan, India, the Philippines, Thailand and Taiwan.\"Over the longer term, much of our growth will come from outside the U.S.,\" Netflix said.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"QNETCN":0.6,"NFLX":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1020,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3569809505691000","authorId":"3569809505691000","name":"breAkdaWn","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/4c3676c14de9bfcd6f45bcf7ba4ddb6c","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"authorIdStr":"3569809505691000","idStr":"3569809505691000"},"content":"true. they have exhausted the usual excuses the war. the virus. the logistics.. if there is no password sharing and have adds. this Netflix will be NomoreFlix","text":"true. they have exhausted the usual excuses the war. the virus. the logistics.. if there is no password sharing and have adds. this Netflix will be NomoreFlix","html":"true. they have exhausted the usual excuses the war. the virus. the logistics.. if there is no password sharing and have adds. this Netflix will be NomoreFlix"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9081399232,"gmtCreate":1650192047954,"gmtModify":1676534666341,"author":{"id":"4106958589832490","authorId":"4106958589832490","name":"whereareyou","avatar":"https://static.itradeup.com/news/1e1404e84b34f5746764c809e3ee03f2","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4106958589832490","idStr":"4106958589832490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Sell sell sell ","listText":"Sell sell sell ","text":"Sell sell sell","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9081399232","repostId":"2227986989","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":477,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9013685003,"gmtCreate":1648720302830,"gmtModify":1676534385679,"author":{"id":"4106958589832490","authorId":"4106958589832490","name":"whereareyou","avatar":"https://static.itradeup.com/news/1e1404e84b34f5746764c809e3ee03f2","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4106958589832490","idStr":"4106958589832490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Release reserves for show. It would be significantly bigger than recent reserves sales by the U.S. and the country may be joined by allies as part of an effort coordinated by the International Energy Agency. Here’s what some top analysts have to say about the impact:Goldman Sachs Group Inc.A potential release of crude from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve would help the market to re-balance this year, but it won’t solve a structural deficit for oil, analysts including Damien Courvalin said in a note. A release would reduce the amount of necessary price-induced demand destruction, but it’s not a persistent source of supply for coming years.OandaThe release would help cap oil prices in the short-term, but it’s unlikely to make up for the losses of Russian oil exports, said Jeffrey Halley, a senior market analyst at Oanda Asia Pacific Pte. In the longer run, it means that the U.S. SPR will be substantially reduced when demand typically climbs over the U.S. summer driving season, a potential upside for oil prices.ClearView Energy Partners LLC“It is hard to overstate the scale of this intervention, if it bears out,” Managing Director Kevin Book said in a research note. It would be the largest drawdown volume announced in the 45-year history of the SPR, and would follow the second biggest, the 50 million barrel combined sale and exchange in November. As global consumption may outstrip supply by 800,000 barrels a day in the second quarter, the release of 1 million barrels a day from the SPR could bring supply and demand roughly into balance absent further disruptions. That, however, would do little to rebuild lean global inventories.RBC Capital MarketsGiven the Biden administration is taking a very muscular stance toward Moscow, the SPR release is being used as a tool to blunt the impact for U.S. consumers, RBC Capital Markets said. Losses of Russian crude are likely to be enduring as the country will likely remain the most sanctioned nation on earth for the foreseeable future. It will be important to see whether this announcement will be an effective shock-and-awe tactic given that Russian energy losses are likely to climb as the campaign intensifies and the humanitarian crisis in Europe grows more dire, it said in a note.S&P GlobalThe move is likely to be insignificant, with the key focus still being Russian exports, said Victor Shum, vice president of consulting at S&P Global. A wide range of outcomes are possible on Russian crude, with up to 7.5 million barrels a day of exports at stake. Any loss of Russian shipments could be replaced through higher output from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and release of government-controlled reserves, at least for several months. Should Russian exports fall 3 million barrels a day from pre-invasion levels from April to December, that would be 825 million barrels, well above the 575 million barrels currently held in the already-shrinking U.S. SPR, he said.DBS BankPrevious release announcements have done little to assuage the market but the size of the latest potential move could have a more lasting impact on prices, said Suvro Sarkar, an energy analyst at DBS Bank Ltd. in Singapore. The actual impact on the market will depend on how the release happens -- whether it’s via direct sales or replacement. The U.S. currently holds about 570 million barrels in the reserves -- the lowest since 2002 -- and a 180 million barrel release without replacement would imply a more than 30% decrease. While the news could lower prices in the short term, it could lead to increased U.S. demand in the longer term to refill the reserves, he said.ING GroepThe release would be the largest ever if it all comes from the U.S., and that would help to ease some of the supply tightness, said Warren Patterson, Singapore-based head of commodities strategy at ING Groep NV. While it would take the volume of the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserves to the lowest levels since the 1980s, the U.S. will likely push for a coordinated release so that the move will have a more meaningful impact on the market, he said.Vanda InsightsA constant stream of incremental supply is what the market really needs to cool down prices, according to Vandana Hari, founder of Vanda Insights in Singapore. It’s also important that the U.S. is a producer that’s capable of taking action as the country has enough surplus SPR and has the infrastructure in place to get the 1 million barrels a day of oil to the refiners in fairly short order, she said.SPI Asset ManagementThe release is a possible game-changer, and it offsets the loss of Russian supply for U.S. refiners, said Stephen Innes, managing partner at SPI Asset Management. It still needs to be seen whether the move will be enough to stem the tide of rising prices, or change the perception that reserves releases are little more than band-aids, he said. This unexpected supply boost may temper bullish views for a little bit until more details emerge, Innes said.ANZ GroupOil prices reacted quickly to the news, but there’s unlikely to be a major short-term impact on physical markets as the volumes are still relatively small compared with the losses due to the war in Europe, said Daniel Hynes, senior commodities strategist at Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd.. The release looks to be sizable compared with previous efforts, but there are issues around the timing, he said. Also, inventories could be squeezed in the medium term when demand picks up, leading to higher prices, Hynes said.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"USO":0.9,"CLmain":0.9,"BZmain":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":813,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3582677971530678","authorId":"3582677971530678","name":"BlueDaisy","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0747094283743978b62fb8b1ee2cf44c","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"authorIdStr":"3582677971530678","idStr":"3582677971530678"},"content":"When inventory running low price will still shoot up.","text":"When inventory running low price will still shoot up.","html":"When inventory running low price will still shoot up."}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9038427399,"gmtCreate":1646895870878,"gmtModify":1676534174670,"author":{"id":"4106958589832490","authorId":"4106958589832490","name":"whereareyou","avatar":"https://static.itradeup.com/news/1e1404e84b34f5746764c809e3ee03f2","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4106958589832490","idStr":"4106958589832490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hope it is not temporary bounce...[Glance] . Over the last 12 months, its shares have risen by 13.7%, topping the market's increase of 10.4%.But how much money would shareholders have made if they invested even further back, and what are the company's chances of replicating its run-up to the present? Let's crunch a few numbers and examine its business model to find out why it's successful.Image source: Getty Images.Pricing means it won't be hard to repeat successWhen it comes to cosmetic medical procedures, people only have a few options. One path is plastic surgery, which is highly effective, but it's invasive and can cost upward of $5,000 per procedure.Another avenue is less-invasive techniques like laser treatments, which can cost around $2,500 per treatment, but aren't always on par with surgery in terms of the results. Plus, many procedures aren't possible with laser treatments, which limits their usefulness. There is one more option. InMode's specialty is less-invasive radiofrequency devices that are inexpensive and deliver surgery-like results for patients. The company makes a variety of machines with services including body remodeling, skin tightening, and even muscle toning. InMode's devices punch above their price point when it comes to convenience and efficacy, which is a competitive advantage. A full course of treatment with its Morpheus skin remodeling device can cost as little as $2,250 and patients don't require any downtime afterward. That's why it's not surprising that its twelve-month trailing revenue has increased by more than 225% since 2019, reaching $357.5 million. And, its quarterly net income has grown by more than 420% in the last three years.Holding this stock has paid off handsomelyBut how much did that hot run of growth end up helping shareholders who started a position in early 2020?At the very start of 2020, shares of InMode were going for near $21. Now, they're close to $40.5, which means investors from early 2020 would be up by around 104%. If you'd bought $5,000 worth of shares, you'd currently have roughly $10,200. That's not half bad, considering that the market's total return in that period was only 35.3%.^SPX data by YChartsBut if you had sold your shares when InMode's stock was at its height near $95 in early October 2021, you'd have made an even more impressive sum of $20,100.There's a good chance that the company will return to that price level over the next couple of years. In fact, the average of four price estimates made by professional analysts who routinely cover the stock is $82.7. So if the company continues to expand at its present rate, its stock price could shoot to new highs, rewarding investors who held the stock through its recent downturn.More growth is on the wayLooking into the future, InMode is in a position to keep flourishing. Though its shares are down by more than 43.3% this year, it has a few growth drivers that should perk things up quite quickly. The company is expanding into international markets, 17 of which it entered for the first time in 2021. And it'll continue to expand its portfolio of devices so it can steal market share from traditional plastic surgery and laser treatments. Furthermore, InMode will also keep developing and selling new consumables like replacement handpieces for its equipment, as its business uses a razor-and-blade model. In terms of the scope of its research and development (R&D) work on new hardware, investors will be pleased to hear that annual R&D expenditures have increased by 67.2% since January 2020, reaching $9.5 million for 2021. At the same time, R&D costs have decreased as a percentage of annual revenue, which means that new device development can sustainably proceed at the current pace. Management thinks that pace is sufficient to continue launching two new pieces of equipment per year.Financially, there's little standing in the company's way. Its debt of $4.5 million is negligible, and it has $415.9 million in cash to fuel its efforts. So if you don't want to miss out on the next leg of this company's growth, it might be a good idea to consider an investment. There's no guarantee that the stock will repeat its run-up over the last few years, but it's entirely possible that it'll keep outperforming the market given its business fundamentals.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"INMD":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1298,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9031717093,"gmtCreate":1646667007188,"gmtModify":1676534148650,"author":{"id":"4106958589832490","authorId":"4106958589832490","name":"whereareyou","avatar":"https://static.itradeup.com/news/1e1404e84b34f5746764c809e3ee03f2","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4106958589832490","idStr":"4106958589832490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Run away from EV companies. The electrification of consumer vehicles and enterprise fleets, and the desire by most countries to reduce their carbon footprints and halt climate change in its tracks, mean that we're witnessing the beginning of what could be a multidecade vehicle replacement cycle.According to a survey conducted late last year by KPMG, the average forecast of the more than 1,000 global auto leaders KPMG spoke to was for worldwide electric vehicle (EV) sales to reach roughly 50% of all autos sold by 2030. Meanwhile, a November report from Market Research Future calls for the EV industry to hit $957 billion in market value by 2030, which is more than quadruple its value at the end of 2021.Although investing in EV growth looks like a no-brainer opportunity, not all stocks associated with the electrification of autos will be winners. While I believe one name can be bought hand over fist (I'll get to this company in a bit), there are two EV stocks that should be avoided like the plague. Two all-electric Rivian R1Ts. Image source: Rivian Automotive. The first EV stock to avoid: Rivian AutomotiveOn the surface, Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ:RIVN), which was one of 2021's hottest initial public offerings (IPOs), looks like it has the tools to be successful. The company will offer three differentiated vehicles -- the R1T pickup truck, the R1S SUV, and the EDV electric van -- with planned annual capacity ranging from 200,000 vehicles at its Illinois factory to 400,000 at its Georgia plant. The latter is an estimated figure, with Rivian spending a cool $5 billion to build the factory. Production is anticipated to begin by 2024.Rivian also has an order for 100,000 EDVs from Amazon, which it received in 2019. The sheer size of this order has validated Rivian as a player of interest in the EV space for years. But the flipside to Rivian is that it's still very wet behind the ears. The company produced only 1,015 EVs in 2021 and had its IPO with no trailing-12-month sales. It missed an already low production bar for 2021, and will likely deal with the same supply chain constraints affecting the entire industry. In other words, Rivian's trajectory is bound to hit numerous speed bumps and potholes. It's par for the course when building an EV company from the ground up.Making matters worse, Rivian finds itself in hot water with the public after announcing, then walking back (for those who ordered before March 1), a price hike of $12,000 on its quad-motor models. Higher material costs are forcing automakers to boost prices. While Rivian was simply following the pack, a $12,000 price hike on vehicles that already cost $70,000 (or more) didn't sit well with customers. If Rivian isn't careful, it could price customers out of buying its vehicles. While Rivian could eventually grow into an investment-worthy company in the EV space, it has little business being valued at $45 billion. The all-electric Nikola Badger got the ax before it even rolled off the production line. Image source: Nikola. The second EV stock to avoid: NikolaWell before Rivian was the hottest thing in the EV space, Nikola (NASDAQ:NKLA) was making waves. It was one of many companies that went public via a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). On June 9, 2020, Nikola hit an intraday high of nearly $94 a share. Unfortunately, those same shares were trading hands for $7 and change as of March 3, 2022.The initial buzz for Nikola had to do with its introduction of the Badger in February 2020. The Badger was to be a battery EV (BEV) or fuel-cell EV (FCEV) pickup truck with an estimated 600-mile range and a reasonably low $60,000 price tag. When coupled with Nikola's ambitions to also build BEV and FCEV semi trucks, Wall Street was enamored, at least initially, with the company's potential. Then the proverbial wheels fell off.Over the course of the next year and a half, the Badger would be shelved before it even rolled off the production line. This was due, in part, to Nikola being unable to land a manufacturing partner for the truck. Though it looked as if General Motors would step up and be that partner, an eventual agreement between the two companies didn't include the Badger.Worse yet, a handful of allegations of wrongdoing levied by short-side firm Hindenburg Research against Nikola proved to be true. An independent review found that pre-order figures were exaggerated. This resulted in a probe by the Securities and Exchange Commission, leading to former CEO Trevor Milton being indicted on three counts of fraud this past July.Today, Nikola is only just beginning to deliver its first BEV semi trucks. Even though it's received a couple of letter-of-intent orders during the fourth quarter for its semi trucks, it's not clear if the company has the capital necessary to ramp up production and ward off significant quarterly losses. When coupled with its damaged reputation, Nikola becomes an easy pass for investors. The newly introduced Nio ET7 EV sedan. Image source: Nio.The EV stock to buy hand over fist: NioOn the other end of the spectrum is Nio (NYSE:NIO), which checks all the appropriate boxes and can be bought hand over fist following its recent pullback.I'll freely admit that, a little over a year ago, I had Nio in the same camp as Nikola -- i.e., Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! At one point, Nio's valuation topped $90 billion with the company pacing for only around 20,000 EVs in production annually. Its valuation just didn't make any sense. However, management has really impressed with its ability to boost production in a challenging environment. Though the Chinese New Year held back production in February, and supply chain issues curbed output in January, Nio managed to top 10,000 deliveries in both November and December. Management has offered guidance suggesting that the company can hit 50,000 deliveries monthly by the end of the year. This would work out to an annual run-rate of around 600,000 EVs.Fueling this production surge is Nio's existing line of EVs, as well as the introduction of three new vehicles. Until now, the company's premium SUVs (the ES8 and ES6) and crossover EV (the ES6) have received plenty of interest. But the next wave of growth will come from the deliveries of the ET7 and ET5, which are EV sedans that take direct aim at Tesla's Model S and Model 3, respectively. With the top-tier battery option, Nio claims an estimated range of approximately 621 miles for its sedans.Furthermore, the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) program that was unveiled in August 2020 by management is pure genius. For buyers, BaaS lowers the initial purchase price of their vehicle and gives them the option to charge, swap, or upgrade their batteries at a later date. For Nio, it trades lower-margin near-term sales for high-margin fee-based revenue (buyers pay a monthly fee for the BaaS program) that keeps buyers loyal to the brand. And did I mention Nio is based in China, the world's largest auto market? The EV industry is still nascent in China, meaning market share is up for grabs. With Nio expected to turn the corner to recurring profitability next year, and the company valued at just seven times Wall Street's forecast earnings per share in 2024, it looks like a screaming buy.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"BEV":1,"NKLA":1,"RIVN":1,"NIO":1,"EVS.SI":0.6}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":823,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9094106318,"gmtCreate":1645071843247,"gmtModify":1676533994377,"author":{"id":"4106958589832490","authorId":"4106958589832490","name":"whereareyou","avatar":"https://static.itradeup.com/news/1e1404e84b34f5746764c809e3ee03f2","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4106958589832490","idStr":"4106958589832490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Berkshire Hathaway(BRK.A)$ growing for more than 20 years.. $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ maybe = GM or Ford in next decade. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO did not provide more details of the incident. Why It Matters: Munger has criticized cryptocurrency before. He had in February last year said he hates the Bitcoin success.“I don't welcome a currency that's so useful to kidnappers and extortionists and so forth,” he had said at the time.Surprisingly, Buffett-controlled Berkshire had in the fourth quarter of 2021 initiated a position in the BTC-friendly Brazilian bank Nu Holdings Ltd while dumping shares of Visa Inc and Mastercard Incorporated. The company led by the Oracle of Omaha bought $1 billion worth of Nubank shares in the fourth quarter of 2021 and sold $1.8 billion and $1.3 billion worth of Visa and Mastercard stock.Musk had last year disclosed a $1.5 billion investment in Bitcoin and began accepting the cryptocurrency as payment for its vehicles before halting the initiative in May.Price Action: Tesla shares closed 0.1% higher at $923.39 a share on Wednesday.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":0.9,"BRK.A":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1317,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9096655564,"gmtCreate":1644379588358,"gmtModify":1676533919482,"author":{"id":"4106958589832490","authorId":"4106958589832490","name":"whereareyou","avatar":"https://static.itradeup.com/news/1e1404e84b34f5746764c809e3ee03f2","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4106958589832490","idStr":"4106958589832490"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Tech company with real tech. (PLTR), a big data and analytics company, can be best defined by its use cases such as capturing terrorists as well as building mission-critical customized solutions for the public and private sectors, and its stock has been having a rollercoaster ride over the past year. Following its IPO in September 2020 at a price of $10 per share, the stock reached a high of over $39 in February 2021, only to shed most of these gains over the last 12 months. In what was a remarkable year for all major U.S. market indexes, Palantir stock struggled in 2021 and is down more than 28% this year as well. This lackluster market performance prompted us to initiate coverage of Palantir to determine whether Mr. Market is missing something.

Palantir’s complex business structure together with the stock price action as a meme stock attracted the attention of many retail investors in its early days as a public company. While the company has been portraying impressive revenue growth as well as introducing many initiatives to promote future growth, we believe a few negative developments are overshadowing the fundamentals and the potential of the company.

On that note, we believe now is a good time to invest in Palantir stock, and our investment thesis is based on three reasons.

High-value public and private sector opportunities.

The changing shareholder composition.

The attractive price point to initiate an investment in the company.

We will briefly discuss these three reasons below.

The opportunity

The first reason is the opportunity that prevails in the current market for the services provided by the company. Palantir’s software integrates organizations’ data from diverse sources and allows users to run analytics, identify trends, and make informed decisions using Artificial Intelligence. The two main platforms used by Palantir are Foundry and Gotham. Gotham is mostly used for government applications, whereas Foundry is for the private sector that allows businesses to interpret information feeds. The global big data market is expected to grow from $138.9 billion in 2020 to $229.4 billion by 2025, at a compounded annual growth rate of 10.6%. The major growth factors of the big data market include the increasing awareness of the Internet of Things (IoT) devices among organizations, increasing availability of data across organizations to gain deeper insights to remain competitive, and increasing government investments in various regions for enhancing digital technologies. This is a fast-growing market, as evident by these projections, and we believe Palantir is well-positioned to make the most of this favorable macroeconomic outlook.

Exhibit 1: The global big data market

Source: Markets and Markets

Looking at the recent deals secured by Palantir with Dewpoint Therapeutics and Hyundai Heavy Industries, there seems to be strong commercial potential for Palantir’s technologies. On the government front, off-the-shelf software solutions are given preference over bespoke solutions given the high costs involved in developing bespoke solutions. Gartner, in its worldwide government IT spending report released in February 2021, highlighted that spending will reach $483 billion in 2021, an increase of 5.1% from 2020. The software segment was expected to have the highest growth (9.2%) compared to 2020, which confirms the strong momentum behind government software spending.

Exhibit 2: Government IT spending forecast by segment

Source: Gartner

Second, the changing shareholder composition. The strong revenue growth portrayed by the company in the recent past did not receive due recognition in the market, in our opinion. The third quarter of 2021 is widely seen as a disappointing quarter for Palantir despite the company reporting year-over-year revenue growth of 35.5%, and this is mainly because of the decelerating growth of the government sector revenue. Palantir reported 34% YoY growth in the governmental segment revenue compared to 66% in the previous quarter, and this deceleration of growth did not impress the market. The commercial segment, excluding related party revenue, grew 23% YoY, and we believe this segment holds the key to the expected success of the company. Even though Q3 2021 revenue growth decelerated, Palantir continues to grow its topline every quarter, and given the favorable industry outlook as well as market opportunities, we believe the management guidance for 30%+ annual growth through 2025 is easily attainable. After looking at the recent price action in the market, we conclude that the market has always been pricing in higher revenue growth for Palantir in each of the last few quarters, and the otherwise impressive financial performance was overshadowed by these unrealistic growth expectations. Now that the hype is finally fading, we believe Palantir will attract the attention of investors who are in it for the long run, which in return could lead to reduced volatility in the stock while creating a platform for Palantir stock to drive on improving fundamentals.

Exhibit 3: Palantir institutional ownership

Source: Fintel

Third, the improving margin of safety resulting from the comparatively cheaper valuation. Although the company is making losses, the business is generating positive free cash flow with $320 million in FCF reported for the first three quarters of 2021, a massive year-over-year improvement from a loss of $285 million in the prior-year period. Palantir is currently trading at a P/S multiple of close to 17, which certainly does not make it the most cheaply valued tech company today, but in comparison to Snowflake, Inc. (SNOW) which is valued at a P/S multiple of more than 80, we believe Palantir’s expected growth justifies the current valuation. In any case, the company is more cheaply valued than it used to be just a few months ago – yes, it can get cheaper – and we strongly believe tech companies with competitive advantages will continue to be valued at better-than-average valuation multiples in the long run.

Two risks to monitor

The main red flag we see in Palantir is its excessive stock-based compensation. For a company that has been making losses every quarter and is only reporting profits on an adjusted basis, we feel the company is making life difficult for itself with this compensation structure as it negatively impacts the numbers reported by the company.

Second, we are keeping an eye on Palantir’s concentrated customer base. Already, the intense sensitivity of Palantir’s projects has resulted in investors being unable to forecast and assess the performance of Palantir’s software and its future operational performance. Palantir has only 203 customers in total, of which the top 20 customers account for over 50% of its revenue. This concentrated customer base makes it difficult to project future revenue and also poses a threat to the continued success of the company. Palantir, however, is adding new customers every quarter, and we will monitor these numbers closely to assess whether the company is on the right track to building a diversified pool of customers.

Takeaway

The road to recovery for Palantir is going to be a bumpy ride and investors will have to accept some volatility in the short run. With several government deals in the cards and the commercial segment gaining traction, we believe Palantir is on the cusp of entering a growth phase that would push the company into profitability. Palantir has not been this cheap for quite some time, and as growth investors, we are intrigued by what we are seeing today.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Reasons Why We Believe Palantir Stock Will Rebound
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Reasons Why We Believe Palantir Stock Will Rebound\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-02-09 11:35 GMT+8 Seeking Alpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
SummaryPalantir, since its debut in 2020, has attracted the attention of many investors - both bulls and bears. The market performance of the company, however, has not lived up to expectations due to ...
\n\nSource Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"PLTR":"Palantir Technologies Inc."},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4485111-palantir-pltr-stock-rebound-reasons","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1148039551","content_text":"SummaryPalantir, since its debut in 2020, has attracted the attention of many investors - both bulls and bears. The market performance of the company, however, has not lived up to expectations due to several negative developments. We believe growth investors should consider Palantir at this attractive entry point because of three main reasons.Michael Vi/iStock Editorial via Getty ImagesThis article was written by Nirasha Senanayake, CFA in collaboration with Dilantha De Silva.Palantir Technologies, Inc.
