Japan and the United States are negotiating construction of a semiconductor fab as part of a $550 billion (about ¥85 trillion) investment package agreed in tariff talks, negotiators said. They said the project is expected to be worth several trillion yen and would shift planned investment into the U.S. from power generation toward high‑tech manufacturing.
