NVIDIA has now announced the Orin Nano 2 as an entry-level Jetson refresh, positioning it as a robotics computer that brings frontier-class generative AI performance to a wider audience of developers.
Right out of the gate, the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano 2 keeps the same Ampere architecture and an 8-core Arm CPU, paired with 8 GB of LPDDR5x memory offering 120 GB/s bandwidth.
The key upgrade lies in its new 40W TDP, which enables up to 78 TOPS of AI compute—a 2x jump in performance that speeds up both AI and video processing for a broad range of users, all within a cost-effective and power-efficient system.
Inference performance on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano 2 sees a 2x boost thanks to enhanced Tensor Cores and higher memory bandwidth in the same form factor. Notably, at 15W, the Jetson Orin Nano 2 PC matches its predecessor's performance while sipping 40% less power.
NVIDIA's benchmarks show that the Jetson Orin Nano 2 delivers real-time interactivity, enabling frontier-scale models to run on entry-level hardware. This makes the product a significant step forward, as it lowers both cost and power barriers for adoption.
The Jetson Orin Nano 2, like its forerunner, is backed by NVIDIA's Open Software Stack, the NVIDIA Jetson Agent Skills, and various AI toolsets, allowing developers to run the latest models with optimized performance and efficiency. Supported models include NVIDIA Cosmos, NVIDIA Nemotron, Gemma 4, and Qwen 3.
A demo highlighted the Jetson Orin Nano 2 "Developer Kit" in action on the Reachy Mini robot. Each Reachy integrates a language model, a speech model, and real-time vision AI, showcasing just one of the many potential applications for the Orin Nano 2.
In terms of availability, the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano 2 module and developer kit are slated for release in the first half of 2027.
