President Trump chided Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook, saying he didn't want the iPhone maker to produce more of its devices for the U.S. market in India.
"I had a little problem with Tim Cook yesterday. I said to him, Tim, you're my friend. I treated you very good. You're coming here with $500 billion but now here you are building all over India," he said, speaking in Qatar.
"We're not interested in you building in India. India can take care of themselves. They're doing very well. We want you to build here," Trump said.
Seeking to allay investor concerns about the effects of tariffs, Apple said recently that a majority of devices it ships into the U.S. in the June quarter will originate in India and Vietnam.
