Foreign ministers of 12 Arab and Muslim countries said Iran should immediately halt its attacks on neighboring states, following the latest escalation of the conflict that included Iranian attacks on Qatari energy facilities.
The ministers from Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates met Wednesday in Riyadh, the Saudi capital. In a statement released by Saudi Arabia on Thursday, they condemned as "heinous" the Iranian attacks on civilian infrastructure such as oil facilities and airports.
The ministers said their countries had the right to defend themselves. They criticized what they called Israel's "aggression against Lebanon and its expansionist policy in the region" but didn't mention Israel's attacks against Iran.
