Dow Jones03-19 22:12

By David Uberti

Americans are paying more for gasoline than they have at any point since the inflationary shock of 2022.

Average U.S. costs for the fuel surged to $3.88 a gallon Thursday, according to AAA, up from $2.93 a month ago. Drivers in Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado are seeing the biggest sticker shock.

Diesel prices have risen even faster. GasBuddy analyst Patrick De Haan estimates Americans are now spending a half-billion dollars more on the fuels each day than they were three weeks ago.
