Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said she explained to President Trump what Japan can and can't do when it comes to securing the safety of the Strait of Hormuz. "Ensuring safety in the Strait of Hormuz is extremely important. But there are certain actions that Japan can or can't take within the legal framework," Takaichi told reporters after meeting Trump in the Oval Office on Thursday.
She didn't offer more details on the actions. Takaichi also said that the U.S. and Japan would jointly work to expand the production of American energy resources, with a view to secure crude oil for Japan and Asia.
