An Iranian cluster missile struck a kindergarten in central Israel, Israel's military said. No children were present at the time, the military said. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had fired missiles at locations in Rishon LeZion, the city where the kindergarten is located, according to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB. The IRIB report didn't mention the school.
The war has had a heavy toll on civilians. About 1,400 civilians have been killed in Iran so far, according to figures compiled by Human Rights Activists News Agency. Deaths have also been reported in countries including Israel, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates.
U.S. military investigators are probing a strike on a girls' elementary school in Iran early in the war. A U.S. official told The Wall Street Journal that American forces were likely responsible for the strike.
