President Donald Trump announced on July 31 that Indiana State Senate President Rodric Bray will not seek re-election, accusing him of costing the Republican Party two U.S. House seats and leading colleagues to electoral defeat.
"I am pleased to announce that the man who so foolishly led the Indiana State Senate, with almost every Candidate losing their Race, many of them in Office for years, will not be seeking Re-Election as Senate President because he wouldn’t have had a chance to be elected," Trump wrote on X. He added that Bray should resign entirely, but vowed to "meet him at the Indiana Polls."
Trump criticized Bray for what he described as a failure that cost the party two House seats and caused losses for allied legislators. "Isn’t it amazing how Politics works?" Trump said, thanking the state of Indiana for its support in his presidential election and in ousting "wayward Senators" whom he claimed were led by a "FOOL named Rodric Bray."
The President's remarks come amid ongoing intra-party tensions, though Bray has not publicly responded to the criticism.
