Trump: Cornyn and Tillis blocking Todd Blanche nomination

Trump's Truth Social latest posts07-30

President Donald Trump on July 30 accused Senators John Cornyn of Texas and Thom Tillis of North Carolina of refusing to vote for his nominee for Attorney General, Todd Blanche, whom Trump described as a "STAR" with potential to be one of the "Greatest Attorney Generals of All Time." Trump threatened to temporarily withdraw Blanche's nomination and resubmit it after Cornyn and Tillis leave office, noting that both senators had voted for Merrick Garland and that he had declined to endorse them, effectively ending their political careers.

"Todd Blanche is a STAR, and everyone knows it! He has the potential to go down as one of the Greatest Attorney Generals of All Time," Trump wrote on X. "However, John Cornyn, of Texas, and Thom Tillis, of North Carolina, both of whom I refused to Endorse, and whose political careers have been ended by my action, are refusing to vote for this Great Nominee."

Trump added that he has "no objection to temporarily withdrawing Todd’s name, if they do not do the right thing, and putting him back after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office." Blanche would remain in an acting capacity in the meantime, according to the post.
