President Donald Trump on August 3 endorsed Congressman Byron Donalds for governor of Florida, calling him a "TOTAL WINNER" who will work closely with the White House to advance the America First agenda. In a post on X, Trump praised Donalds as a "Highly Respected" lawmaker who has been "tested at the highest and most difficult levels."
Trump highlighted Donalds' family — his wife Erika and three sons — and outlined the priorities he expects Donalds to pursue as governor: securing the border, stopping migrant crime, strengthening the military, protecting veterans, advancing American energy dominance, cutting taxes and regulations, promoting domestic manufacturing, and defending the Second Amendment. "Byron Donalds will be a truly Great and Powerful Governor for Florida, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement — HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!" Trump wrote.
Donalds, a Republican representing Florida's 19th congressional district, has been a vocal ally of Trump and has frequently appeared at campaign events. The endorsement comes as Florida's current governor, Ron DeSantis, is term-limited and cannot seek reelection in 2026. Trump noted that Florida "WON BIG" in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 presidential elections, signaling his continued political influence in the state.
