President Donald Trump said on August 3 that Chevron Chairman and CEO Mike Wirth, in an interview with Maria Bartiromo, listed reasons for the company's strong performance but conveniently omitted the role of the Trump Administration.
"Without the genius, foresight, strength, and stability, of the TRUMP Administration, the Oil Industry, and our Country itself, would be DEAD!" Trump wrote on X. He noted that Chevron was thrown out of Venezuela but is now back "far bigger and stronger than ever before, expecting to make a fortune."
Trump added that the same applies to other oil companies and called for lowering consumer oil prices immediately. The president's remarks come as gasoline prices remain a key economic issue ahead of the 2024 election.
